What are you doing here!? Hi! 👋
What the hail? Steven watches Daniel too??
@@muffin_the_great they did collabs I think
@@SovietKitten Yeah they just recently did a lil collab
@@AM_I_Able I was least expecting it
Leigh turning Daniel Thrasher into Garbo was the most Australian thing ever XD
It got me dying laughing! 😹
Garbo is a Garbage Man is what we’d be all saying as we slam down our Prima fruit juice boxes on a probably 36C summers day.
I would love to see a flipped version of this where Daniel runs it for Americans. We have so much weird history that even as an American I'd never know most of it
Here's my vote!
as an australian i agree
Petition signed!
Sign me up
My entire history class except me failed when we took it
As an Australian, I can confirm this is 100% accurate.
Also, somehow it's never occurred to me how creepy Healthy Harold sounds.
We were lured into a white van by a complete stranger with a puppet to talk about drugs, nothing odd about that 😂
Oml the memories. Yeah upon reflection it is quite creepy
We have him in Scotland too... Or some other giraffe puppet called Harold
@@laylap174yeah he's also a UK creature. we got bundled into the back of an old library van and taught about the human body by a giraffe. what a rich shared culture we have
As an Aussie I didn't realise sticky beak and boof head weren't things outside Australia.
Lol same.
Really? As an American, it sounds super weird to me 😅
You're lucky you still have slang thrown around. I live across the ditch, and I've lost most of my lexicon because people only speak America over here now 🥲
When I hear boof head all I see is Albo and Emperor Dutton.
Boof head sounds super Australian
As an aussie, I died of laughter when i saw Prime Minister Paul Keating as an option for playing Dame Edna. Also, can confirm we all talk like we're desperately short of syllables.
Australia gets forgotten a lot by many RUclipsrs and this made me happy
Lots of RUclipsrs covered Australia unjustly imprisoning entire families and forcing them to get dangerous jabs, beating old ladies down in the street and dragging them off to jail for refusing. Cutting off peoples methods of survival unless they got it etc etc.....you live in a country willing to go full WW2 baddie mode at the slightest provocation and i think it's disgusting. See...some of us haven't forgot you.
What about nz
@@47ravenlord I’m sorry wtf- What in the Fox News 😂
@@annabelwestwood6192 You don't know anything about your own country, obviously. Go do some research (off of Google) as to how your government handled the plandemic and inform yourself. Your country was nearly as bad as 1940's Germany.
@@47ravenlord that stuff never actually happened, where did you get this info from?
The cat stealing the show was the best part
He literally gets in the camera
When he popped up in the camera I heard ZFrank doing his Creepy Dave thing.
•BIG fan from Australia 🇦🇺 :)
•Pools named after people isnt strange tho for us. Its a warning to scare little kids
•You literally cannot have a good picnic without fairybread. It should be in our constitution
I agree. Fairy bread is the best snack for a picnic.
I remember talking to a friend of mine over in Brisbane about fairy bread because I just did NOT understand sprinkles on butter on bread. Y’all use different ingredients than we do, so it’s much better than what we could do, but I still don’t FULLY understand why
I love how Jackie’s just staring at the tv while being introduced. 💜
As an Australian I cannot tell you why we thought is was a good idea to name a swimming pool after Harrold Holt...
Probably for the same reason we tried to name one of the ferries in Sydney Harbour BoatyMcBoatFace and there’s a massive petition to rename Australian currency to Dollarydoos.
We do it for the bit.
R.I.P. Hambo. Someone should name a lighting rod after him.
6:03
You should've included Oak Milk!!
for those of you interested, Oak milk flavours include...
green apple pie, banana and toffee, PINEAPPLES.
Let that sink in. pineapples.
peppermint, cherries, red skins, splice, lime, ZOOPER DOOPER FLAVOURS, COCA COLA,
And i WISH i was making this up, but we had steak milk too.
oh and spider flavoured milk. that as well.
also notable is smiths chips, which we've had lamington flavoured chips amongst other things
From my fellow Australians we also have:
Smiths Vegemite Chips
Vegemite Cadbury Chocolate (there’s a glass and a half in everyone,,,)
Jaffa flavoured Oak Milk
[and for those who are confused about spider flavoured milk… well. look it up!]
Smiths just keep coming out with absurd flavours, it seems like theres a new one every month 😭
I live in Victoria and I tried the cinnamon donut milk once. It was… something, that’s for sure. Also do you guys remember VEGEMITE CADBURY CHOCOLATE
Spider milk is such an Australian thing
Best oak milk flavour I had was the jaffa one which they haven't done since. Give me the orange choc goodness
@@emeraldnickel Omg, I do 😭
And this is when Daniel learned he was actually 15% Australian!
I'm not so sure about that.
I honestly thought it would be the pool because it's prime Australian humor lmao
I'm from NZ, but I would absolutely jump over the puddle and come see you if you ever toured there.
(okay I maaayyy have downplayed the Pacific Ocean a tad there)
"Over the puddle" Lol
Nah mate, not even the whole pacific, it’s just the Tasman Sea. Pretty much a glorified creek crossing at best really. Shoulda built a bridge over it yonks ago
Well the ocean between US and UK is often referred to as "the pond" so if anything a puddle is too big for the distance between Aus and NZ
Did you hear about the two fella's who kayaked over from Australia to New Zealand? Sure it's a puddle! A very big, killer puddle!
...Which is basically everything ever in Australia.
Mate I'll come pick you up in a dingy
I like these videos, where you just hang with Your friends and have fun making jokes and whatnot.
As an Australian I forget that these phrases are strange to other people 😅
Half of the phrases were British too

Leigh needs his own special
That cat sparks so much joy both in us and in Daniel
Hes been waiting to call Daniel "Garbo" for a long time
you know when daniel posts it’s gonna be entertaining fr 🤷🏾♀️
Bluey has gotten really big here over in the States recently. My niece and nephew watch it quite a bit and it's actually very good!
bluey is literally the best show and no one can change my mind
I live in the real life city that Bluey is in. It’s awesome.
Did you say "AcTuAlLy" HOW DARE YOU!!! YOU SAID ACTUALLY AS IF YOU THOUGHT IT WOULDNT BE GOOD how vewy wood
As an Aussie I'm laughing my head off xD
I’m Australian and yes we’re absolute maniacs 😂
On ya Garbo, ya made some of us Aussies proud
As an Australian I can say that naming a pool after someone who drowned is pretty normal.
Thanks for all the likes❤ let’s make this more liked than Steven He😂
As an American we name shooting ranges after high school students
Well I mean he obviously loved to swim so it seems fitting
I had swimming lessons there growing up and have always found it hilarious that it is named after someone who drowned. As soon as they said, Harold Holt, I knew exactly what the question would be and started cracking up.
@@ked49 Only an American would get offended at someone else's joke. 🙄
He went to my high school and our campus has a wing named after him, every time I had classes in that wing my friends and I would crack some joke about it
Me who watched the movie he was in the other day on Tubi and thought I was going nuts because he looked like one of the main actors THANK YOU FOR CONFIRMING THIS I WAS STRUGGLING MENTALLY XD
I like how you acted like anyone was still listening after the cat appeared
I'm Australian, and I've never heard the phrase "hammer and tong" used in my life. I guessed when you have to fix the barbie (BBQ) whilst you're cooking food
Yeah I've never heard it either, thought I must be unworthy of my aussie-ness
There's absolutely subsections of Australians that are more... generous with using slang everywhere, ie. the further bush you go the more slang you hear and gets used I feel. I grew up in and live in a rural town, and there's deinately a difference between say my dad having a yarn, and people from the "big smoke" (capital city). There's also the language variations based on state too. > . > [don't mention the potato scallops] uh oh 0.0
@@jaykingplays In Britain we'd say "hammer and tongs", it's definitely never gone away. And we never dropped the barge pole either, I don't know if it's seen a resurgence because of the internet somehow, but it's been a common saying all my life including the pre-widespread-internet years.
@@SarahDawes Do you hear rumbling in the distance? I'm sure it's nothing.. definitely not an angry horde of southerners yelling about cakes 🤷♀
ooh, scallops! yum
As an Australian the rush of nostalgia I had at healthy Harold was potent 5:09
I'm from the UK and had vivid flashbacks of being in a dark van with that giraffe
I am American, and I watched H2O as a kid, and I loved it, still watch it. Season 1 was best season
Alien surf girls too
As an Australian, I knew _most_ of these. _Most_
Same 😅
Too young for the hello possums (but I did see he died recently or something?)
And I had no clue what hammer and tong is, never even heard of it haha
@@awesomehawkins he died like two weeks ago. I reccomend looking up a few of his shows because they're pretty funny
I used to call my really fat cat ‘boof head’ because he was such a silly cat. He used to run into walls lol
The "Crikey! Cuisine!" Cracks me up every. Single. Time. 😂😂😂😂 This is one of my favorite videos in this corner of the Internet. 😂
Unseen footage of a cat being nice to its owner without previous provocation
Did not know that Bananas in Pajamas was Australian
Harold Holt didn't go missing, he actually was almost assassinated by the people on Australian currency and faked his death and fled to New York to fight crime.
(I realize very few people will understand this reference and think I'm off my nut)
I feel a Wikipedia rabbithole calling my name...
I was just ready to believe you
Ayyyy Kath and Kim reference in the Sticky Beak explanation! And in a Q! Congrats on the win, Garbo, and please tell Whitey and Hambo I love them dearly.
"Trashman. Then we'll abbreviate it to Garbageman"
Made me do a spit take!
“Is there a sizashiz for Australia?” -wise words of Daniel thrasher.
The speed at which Daniel turned the nickname against him was incredible
Wow, glad to have a new person take the face of Daniel. Garbo is great.
"So it could be sexual." LMFAO I actually had to pause the video
Australia slays
For those wondering...
A goon bag is cheap cask wine. The 'cask' is a cardboard box containing a silver bag / bladder with a plastic nozzle. Also known as a 'goonsack'.
It contains 4 liters (about a gallon) of wine in the bag for $12.99 (around $8 USD) so it's the cheapest way to drink for struggling uni students.
As a proud Australian I can boast a fabulous score of 2/10 because most of those words I've never heard in my life and since when did Bluey overtake the cinematic masterpiece that is Bananas in Pajamas. I mean, have you seen them in live action??
Also, I fully stand by Harold Holts Swimming Pool. It is so iconically inconsiderate and is therefore automatically Australian.
;-;
I had swimming lessons at Harold Holt growing up and have always found it hilarious that it is named after a Prime Minister who drowned. As soon as they said, Harold Holt, I knew exactly what the question would be and started cracking up.
Been a fan of Leigh for quite some time. God this man is precious!!
garbo and hambo, the perfect crime solving duo.
I remember vaguely, going into said dark van in prep here in ‘Straya, but I don’t remember a word he said. I turned 13 almost 2 weeks ago and Happy Harold only just came flooding right back to my mind, and suddenly I’m a 4 or 5-year-old sitting in a black van looking the giraffe puppet dead in the eyes.
I like how it played Men At Work in the beginning.
Very catchy song.
I don't usually leave comments, but this was a really thoughtful video. Thank you Daniel!
Btw your content is top notch and not a time waste distraction like some of the other trash on RUclips or especially TikTok. I really like the connection your characters have in your videos and the random let's play. Keep at it and make sure to take care of yourself.
Daniel's wigs are getting more and more extravagant, for a moment I almost thought there was really 4 different people in this video.
As an Aussie
This is the content I didn’t know I needed
As an Australian the constant over abbreviating really hit close to home! Great video, can't wait to see more content. (I remember that movie)
4:48 omg that’s so relatable
An ad played right as Leigh screamed since Whitey jumped on the camera, most perfectly cut scream ever
Leigh is an amazing host. Absolutely amazing 😂
I didn't realise that I grew up with so many Australian shows, in Norway! Blinky Bill was one of my fave shows! Same with Banans in Pyjamas! That stuff was like, always on in the weekends!^^ I loved the intro to that.
and the tradition continues in that I adore Bluey!
Name something Australia is famous for: Australians
I loved being a kid and getting ushered into a van to talk about cigarettes with a giraffe
As a kangaroo, I am offended.
Happy Harold sure brought be some _meaty_ nostalgia
I love how half the time, Daniel’s cats were just climbing all over him 💀
I love that Leigh is dressing exactly how Australians dress when they're trying to look more Australian to other Australians
He looks like he's been hired to do a presentation about the acquisition of a local dairy plant or sugar mill by a plastics conglomerate, and show off all the indigenous artwork and bush poetry anthologies the proceeds from the sale are going to buy for the region's schools and council buildings (where they will definitely be kept and treasured, and not thrown out after a year or two, no, certainly not)
As an Australian I found this perfect
4:08 RIP Barry Humphries, one of Australia's greatest legends... :(
LEIGH WAS IN THE LEGEND OF THE FIVE??????????
that movie scarred me it was a time to be alive to see that on tv also I KNEW I RECOGNISED HIM SOMEWHERE

You never cease to find a way to make this channel weirder.
I'm convinced that Australia doesn't exist
You're wrong, New Zealand doesn't. (THAT'S WHY IT'S NOT ON MOST MAPS!?!???!!!)
as an Australian I can confirm that-
* fades away because I don't exist *
I am Australian and while I do use 'you're doing my head in' quite often, I would unironically also use 'No deal, Andrew' if not only for it's cultural significance.
The "Crikey!" Jokes are so much funnier when you know it's short for "Christ kill me".
when neither of them got kath&kim right i didnt know i could feel any more australian
i remember the answer to "Happy Harold" cuz it happened to me. I was shoved into a very dark van with my class and an adult and we learnt about the body and health with a giraffe. The giraffe was behind a wall for immersion but uh, it ruined my childhood when the last time we did it, there was a new person doing it and they just straight up took the puppet out, on their hand, looking obviously like a hand puppet. It was so sad and stuck with me ever since :C Extra: My favourite animal is a giraffe (So it was more painful.) Note: I was very young when this happened.
Oh that Harold guy that took you into a van and told you abkut drugs
@@waerden yus
My explination is: he fuckin' drowned mate, bloke gets what he deserved, havin' a pool named after 'im
I’m Australian and I didn’t even knew half the slangs at the start lmao 💀
As an Australian, I can confirm I've accidentally referred to Daniel Thrasher as Garbo
"is [any cuisine] better than London food?" the answer is ALWAYS yes!
daniel listing off the dumbest australian sounding names he could think of made this video for me
As an Australian, with the Harold Holt pool, my personal reason for the naming of it is cause it's funny. I have no idea the actual reason for it but I presume others would agree with me
lmao i love the part where daniel just turned the tables on lee and got Hambo'd

5:00 OHOHOO you called.
OH FUCK OH SHIT FUCKING ASGYUDILH JKL:
I’m shockingly happy about the stereotypical Australian stuff, and as an Australian can confirm
I remember when my prep class got herded into the Healthy Harold van. I remember only two things about it. They handed out DC ooshies, and I had a nightmare that night where I was slowly disemboweled by an invisible force while Harold watched. Also, I had not realised until now that Harold was an exclusively Australian thing.
This is for Garbo, we Australians love poking fun at people so we named the swimming pool after Hareld mostly for laughs. (If alive he would appreciate the Assie humour)
Good job, Garbo! Ain't that just the way
2:46 Me: *_(Gets reference; laughs)_*
Also me: “Well, I loike what I soi!” 😁
3:59 Paul Keating… 🤣
as an Australian this video is right on. and its quite sad that we Lost Barry Humphrees nit too long ago.
Happy Harold is a classic. He comes to our school every year!
When I was in primary school I saw him every year as well:)
@@LLolly_4 Yup. exactly same for me!

Also, I’ve never heard of “happy” Harold xD I only had healthy Harold (I’m from qld)
From Victoria and same... he's only ever been "healthy" for me lol
2:47 i love the kath and kim reference in there
We need to see Daniel's alternate persona, Garbo in a skit 👏
You missed Mortified as a tv show! Mortified was my childhood and I’m sure it was a lot of other people’s too ❤😂
Me had to take a second at the harold holt question. I had to put my device down, walk out of the room and question my countries choices.
This reminded me of the strangest thing about visiting healthy harold was how they made all of us kids (maybe 8-10 years old) form into a line and kiss the puppet's head, which i need to remind you is the felt-covered hand of a strange old man.
Love it! Awesome work Leigh. Super cool seeing you with a longer part. On point host skills.
