In this video I'm showing you step by step how to repair cracks in a concrete floor. I'm using a repair product called CrackWeld from RadonSeal.
This easy to use, diy concrete crack repair kit will make fixing your cracked concrete very easy.
All you have to do is clean the crack, remove any dirt, debris, and dust by using a vacuum. You don't need to rout it out. Put the repair kit together like I do in the video, purge a little material out into a cup, then start "wetting" out the crack. Add silica sand to the wetted crack and mix it into a paste using a putty knife.
Force the "repair paste" into the crack, moving along down the crack. Leave the repair material a little high, you will be lightly grinding it off to smoothen it and make it flush with the concrete floor.
The step by step instructional video will show you just how we repair cracks in a concrete floor.

Do I need a telescope to see what you're doing 😂
I think I might return the big box store epoxy. I'm glad you are here and you are such a knowledgeable guy!
Good stuff man, thanks for posting!
Thanks for this video and taking the time to explain how to DIY repairs like this, and leveling - it helped us fix our own problems in place where it's hard to get professionals to bid projects. :)
Great content Mike!
Thanks for posting this!
Great job
Mike, I just discovered your channel today. Awesome videos.... many apply to me DIY... especially stamped concrete. The final repair of the cracks in this video look great. I scanned through your videos looking for concrete driveway repair to no avail. Do you have a video for this? I have read many different solutions that do not look professional in matching the concrete; it still obvious of a crack even though you may have sealed the problem. Do you have a preference of products and suggested repair method. Thank you Mike.
Spoke too soon on your other video. Thank you for talking us through the process!
I use same idea but different product. Also adjusted my application, I wet the crack then pre mix my sand and epoxy into a bucket then apply. I'm usually doing larger cracks and doing it alone so this way works more efficiently for me. I never understood mixing the sand in the crack " as is needed for larger cracks " and at times I've had the epoxy not come out at the same rate from each tube and it created areas that wouldn't harden. So I just started emptying both cartridges after getting crack into 2 quarts of sand and mix it up. I've had no hardening issues since. Obviously for hair line cracks i would change my application
Hi Mike, I was wondering where you purchase your sanding discs for cleaning off the top of the cracks once the material is cured? Thanks Rich Thompson
nice job
Great job, thanks for this video. If possible I want to know what material you used? Thanks
Hi Mike, nice video. I have a contractor who has leveled my floor however has left it with a few imperfections. I would like to have an indoor concrete flooring in a grey color. In my inexperience i see 2 ways. One: re-level the floor with a coloring pigment and then use an epoxy coating. or repair the imperfections with a kit and then use a concrete colored coating which might be a cheaper option. What do you think?
Good video what kind of grinder wheel did you day you used
Wouldn’t control joint cut into the floor help avoid those cracks from happening? Just saying.
Hey Mike, Nice video. What grit disc are you using? Get Larry a snickers bar! lmbo!
Hey Mike - thanks for the video. If the homeowner was putting flooring over those cracks would they need filled? Or was it because they were just gonna add a clear layer over it?
Will this product work on a broom textured concrete driveway in Florida?
If i want to apply epoxy, do i have to etching first before repair crack or the other way around?
Nice work will this last long term, and stop radon from coming through?
Good morning. A lot of my basement floor cracked due to water coming up from a broken sewer line. That line has been replaced by the cracks are much bigger than the ones you are repairing here. Would you still recommend this product or would you go for something heavier duty? I've also taken care of any other moisture issues by having a french drain installed on the perimeter of the basement.
Did you chase the cracks first before applying the CrackWeld?
Do you have to apply epoxy in garage and condo hallways?
You recommend the Dewalt Grinder, DEWALT Angle Grinder Dust Shroud, 5-Inch (DWE46153), but it looks like you're using a different grinding machine with two handles. What specifically is the brand with handles in your video?
Is it possible for the concrete floor to crack even after the epoxy? Does the epoxy prevent concrete crack?
The carpet guy asked if I wanted to fix floor crack by caulking or cement. I didn't know, so I thought cement would be best. He made quick cement on the floor and wiped it over the cracks and let it dry. Should a floor guy go back and have it redone with your method then put epoxy flooring on it? Thank you.
Can I just fill the cracks with the epoxy primer?
Are you supposed to only fix bigger cracks? I have very small ones, barely a millimeter wide? Should I open those too and fill them up? There are lots of small ones. Thank you.
Hello.
I have a 5mm crack running the length of my bedroom and ends at the hinge side of the door. Bedroom is at the end of my house. No further cracks.
At places next to the crack it sounds hollow.
Need I be concerned and if concerning then how do I fix it?
Thanks in advance.
What is the grinder you are using?
Great Video Mike, as you stated it is a repair. Some people seem to take issue with your use of a product but I'd sooner know what your using. There is nothing worse than watching a video and knowing what the product is. As for Larry Maloney he seems to be a little upset, but at the same time he seems to offer no better solutions to the issue.
Thanks John!
Mr. Maloney was using an ad hominem attack. This is a logical fallacy whereby one attacks the character of the person rather than the actual issue. In these tense times, it is the mark of the better man to rise above it. Congratulations....and I appreciate the tutorial. I have work to do.
Do these cracks cause water intrusion? And if so is this the only thing needed to fix the problem?
Will the cracks usually come back after repaired
Hey, Mike. We just wanted to come back to your video and say thanks. We did Order the Radon Seal and we used it on the job and it worked amazing, however when we were finished sanding it you can see the sanding marks, is there something to put on it to make the coloring blend in after sanding. We also ordered some tools yesterday off Marshallton and used your coupon that you told us too. Thanks for that.
It will eventually blend in on color. There's nothing you can do that won't make it stand out more. You could epoxy it to hide everything.
We are repairing our concrete floors. Question, there are many cracks and the floor is uneven in some areas.
Do we repair the cracks and then do a self leveling mixture? Or the the mixture first and then repair the cracks?
Why not just chip it out until it’s good and refill with concrete? Is this stuff stronger?
Can you give any advice on radon testing. Short term vs long term, can we just repair cracks and seal floors and walls if we get positive results, how long are test results valid for, etc..
thanks
That's not my area of expertise, sorry.
Honesty is rare.
What grinder did you use?
I need to do a bunch of cracks but cannot clear the basement of belongings in it. Will I be able to grind off the high spots without getting dust all over everything? I have a Shop Vac that I assume I can attach to the appropriate grinder you recommend.
Also, I will not be able to do the whole basement in one session since I will have to move some stuff around. Do I need to get extra mixers or backflow valves so I can do multiple sessions?
Metabo grinder with dust guard will do everything you need. Your shop vac won’t fit on it but you can tape it and it’ll be just fine
L
How wide of a Crack can you use this on?
Are you able to use this product outside on driveways or sidewalks
Thanks Larry
You can. It cures very hard. As long as the cracks isn't active, it'll work just fine.
I have a 1/2 wide crack in my floor (just pulled up the carpet). It looks fairly deep and one edge is higher than the other. Can I use this product for this?
You can yes. You'll want to fill the crack with some backer rod foam first, leave it down about 1/4 to 3/8 inch, then use silica sand and crackweld like we're doing in the video to fix.
Thank you!
What is name of products you use?
Is that concrete on the top level of a house? I'd never imagine putting something so heavy up on the top level if there's just wood to hold it up. I would basically expect a crack to come. I'm no expert tho.
I have a large half inch crack with big chips chunks missing. Will this work or is there something else i need to use?
That's pretty big, I might use Sakrete Pro Mix red bag for that. It'll repair up to 2" deep to feather edge.
@@MikeDayConcrete ok koolio. i had a "concrete painter" come out and he recommended i get a mason to fill it with quick crete. sounded easy enough.
Forgot to take my binoculars to watch you work
I wonder what kind of grinder he is using?
Would you use this on a driveway outside
You could, but if the driveway moves it'll crack. This company, Radonseal, has a flexible repair also. Radonseal.com
Can this material be used to fix the thin cracks in the basement floor that seem to be letting some water come up on the basement floor surface?
It will fix those cracks. But if there's that much water coming up, it'll find another way. The crack would have to be dry also for you to use this repair material.
@@MikeDayConcrete
The cracks are completely dry at this point. There are some signs of water being coming out of them at some point in the past.
I need to pour a slab that can hold 30 tons I am thinking 12 inches think
What kind of wheel are you using on the grinder
Ah saw it in the description nice vid
4" diamond wheel.
Thanks Anthony!
Will this work on fountains? No undercutting?
Fountains are the son of a bitch of Concrete.
It'll repair cracks with out undercutting.
@@MikeDayConcrete I have all the tools right now to undercut my leaking fountain. I still dont want to do that now. Can you offer up what to do on a leaking fountain?
Fuck my life!
@@MikeDayConcrete I tried many times to not under cut. But would like a solution to the problem. Too many leaks to describe. Still not yet tried to undercut anything with Concrete.
Sashco Slab Concrete Crack Repair Sealant is simpler.
Why were there cracks in the floor in the first place?I was led to understand there should be an expansion joint in a floor that size🤔
Concrete cracks, homeowner did his own floor. Just shrinkage cracks/stress cracks. No problem to fix, we're applying an epoxy coating over this one.
Agreed........But we have to assume for the purpose of the exercise that has been done. Or that would be another vid...........Maybe a good analogy would be "how to replace a fuse"......One would have to assume the cause(appliance) has been checked first.
Wish I would’ve seen this video 2 years ago before I had mine stained 😩 uh oh I don’t have one of those grinders eirher 🤦🏼♀️
If there is a crack it is for a reason. There is an underlying issue that is not being addressed and this is only temporary, it will return. Also second floor cement? Must be a condominium
Mmmm, man I love caulk and crack 😂
Wouldn't something like a thin liquid epoxy do a lot better so it can go down deep into the crack/pores? Then cover it with some cement and it's done?
I gotta crack in my basement I'm looking to fix. Luckily it's not that big, just a hairline. Still, I don't want any raydon or anything coming outta it.
Gotta crack line on the front entrance outside the house. On the porch.
House is only like 10 years old, high quality development in Canada.
I've lived in houses that were 40 years old and didn't have any cracks like this.
Sorry for all the comments.
It helps with the algorithm anyways for more views :p
Not sure if you are apart of Radon with selling the Crackweld. I am a supplier of one of the original concrete repair product know as an ultra-low viscosity Hybrid-polyurethane. I can sell it a lot less than they are offering.
I'm not. This is just what works best for me. Send me one and I'll try it. daysconcretefloors@gmail.com
loctite pl s10?
@@tbarbuto2345 hey if you like it and it works all that matters.
@@TimothyCorum I was asking what product you were referring to.

In a year there will be more cracks .
I see some crack 😆

Wrong hair dye color.lmao
As much as you may want it to be the phrase "wetting it out" is not a thing. It sounds really stupid.
The crack is not "welded." Your goop may fill the top surface of the crack, but like an iceberg, most of the crack is beneath the surface and still cracked. Maybe your hair dye is affecting your thinking?
Great comment Larry, Thank You!
@@MikeDayConcrete, don't waste my time claiming to show how to patch a crack when your click-bait headline is an infomercial for an expensive epoxy. And maybe allow a little gray to remain so you don't look dipped in paint. (You are welcome)
Larry, you are a old sad human being.
Diamond cup wheel is what you use to grind it
