I think of baubles being Christmas because of the way people hang them from Christmas trees, with the little cap & string threaded through. Bubbles on the other hand are great decoration for any occasion.
Dear Luise, I'm running out of adjectives to express my thoughts and feelings when seeing these gorgeous, star shaped little cards. Gorgeous, beautiful, incredible and again, so creative! Thank you so much for sharing this video and taking us on a wonderful trip towards Christmas ! Love these cuties ❤❤❤
Oh Luise you always make me smile. Your English is better than some native born speakers and that you care so much to learn more is just so special. Here in Australia we use the word “bauble” and decoration (for the Xmas tree or around the house at Xmas time) interchangeably. Bauble can be used in a different context to mean something expensive usually jewellery but as we know you are talking about Xmas baubles we know they are meant as decorations. These smaller cards came out wonderfully even if you were drawn slightly from your original plan lol
Fun video! I’m in the US. A Bauble is usually a showy inexpensive ornament or trinket and NOT necessarily Christmas. I would call those Christmas balls or Christmas ornaments. But there are many types of Christmas ornaments. They could also be called baubles, but remember that baubles could also be used in other ways for trinkets, etc. I hope that helps. 😃❤️
In US here and we call these Christmas balls which are Christmas ornaments. Ornaments might be like stars, ice cycles, and other things that can dangle from a hook or lay on a branch in the tree. I was thinking that some of the items shown in this video might look pretty to hang from a tree.
My dictionary shows that the British consider a Christmas ornament to be a bauble. Personally, here in the US, I think of a bauble as a small something added to most anything for the purpose of jushing or bringing attention to an item Jewelry might be considered a bauble such as a broach or decorative pin. On a journaling card it may be a pearl, a charm, a rhinestone. A child might have a little box or bag with stones or little things: bits and baubles.
@@theresaconway-hayes I am in the US and we don't call them Christmas balls!! I think it is difficult to pin down any descriptive term as being typical of the US because the country is vast and there are so many diverse areas. We speak the same language but in so many different ways.
Love these little cards, Luise! By the way, your new word was not obvious to me at all. LOL I am so impressed with your command of a language that is only recently learned! You seem so comfortable with it aside from the occasional search for the right word to convey your meaning . You are amazing! English is spoken in so many countries with so many regional accents and turns of phrase almost anything goes. You do you! ❤
English( British) , a bauble is a decoration on a Christmas tree as in your kit A bubble is an air ( gas) filled structure made from a soap mixture , bubble gum fizzy pop The plastic globes are so called because they look like soap bubbles The edge of the shape on top of the jar is a scalloped edge x Christmas tree ornaments are little objects like candy canes and toys
The difference between bauble and Christmas ornament depends on where you are speaking. In the US, those are Christmas ornaments. We use bauble for anything shiny and decorative. I've heard British people use bauble for Christmas ornaments and for the fluffy thing on the top if a stocking cap. Not sure exactly how they would define the word. I love how you just take your instincts and run with them. There are advantages to watching the English version. 😂
I have called them Christmas ornaments my whole life, I never heard the term baubles until I started crafting. Maybe in different parts of the United States they call them baubles, but to me they are ornaments.
I just discovered two channels by pop up paper engineers and want to share them with you Luise (and subscribers). Mostly to see what you do with the pop up technology: Duncan Birmingham at ‘The Pop Up Channel’ and Matthew Reinhardt at ‘Pop Up Crafts and More’. My mind it already thinking how to use some of the ideas in my Defemerender adventure.
In my thesaurus, BAUBLE is synonymous with ORNAMENT - Your English is SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS - synonymous with GREAT (see 'Mary Poppins' movie)
I could listen to and watch you create all day long!! I always learn and am inspired to do something differently! My new favorite distress color for edges has permanently changed to “Brayed Furlap”!!! I say it over and over which brings great joy!!! Thank you for sharing yourself with us!!❤

I'm not above buying homemade jam from a local maker and add one of these adorable tags! (The curved edges can be called "scalloped edges".

The circle on top of the jar at the beginning of the video has been given a scalloped edge.
Thank you so much!
