    I know this video is old but thank you so much for showing the card that has a punch out Nano portion. I watched about 20 videos and was all set to try to cut it to fit until I saw this video. I did notice there was a line around the inner portion of my card but had no idea it would pop out. I tried it and it indeed popped out, it fits perfectly and no need for cutting. Thanks again.

    You don't need a template, just cut the corner in an angle and the rest cut it with scissors real close, use sand paper if you have and slide the sides on it on a flat surface, should work, just did it with 2 cards... HAPPY!

      Some older chips have a bigger contact area. It won't be as easy on those.

    I like how precise this guy is. Some others just wing it and make cards that wobble in the tray, i'm not fond of that.

    Actually, I cut my ovn normal SIM card to nanocard for my Galay S8, and it was too big. So I did cut the chip. Works great.

      Glad to have read this, mine also could in no way fit without cutting the chip. cut into it on the slanted edge and it works, 5 bars 4G LTE.

      That's so helpful man I have a more than 10 yrs. Old sim I cut it to micro sim and it still works,still don't know if it will work on nano size

      Well, the gold parts of the simcard aren't the actual chip, they're just the contacts, the chip is WAYYY smaller

    Yes … had to cut into copper edges.With te DOT as your guide you know where to put the 45^ edge.Went from a Samsung S5 to a Motorola One Hyper on Tmobile, works fine.Used a rough file for fine tuning.

    Great video - now new phone is working just fine. A bit scary to cut 1mm of the metal, but no problems so far :)

    maybe cut the corner first to ensure the correct corner is cut? Good tip to clean after to avoid metal dust in phone!! But what about thickness (of sim), are mini micro nano the same?

    Good advice. The sanding sponge makes it easier to wear down the edges until it fits perfectly. Thanks bud.

    I wanted to make a old micro simcard a Nano simcard. I've used a plastic micro simcard and where you can see like the layout for a nano simcard. So I've used a needle for it to make the lines for it. I've cut it with a regular scissor. But unfortunatly it didn't work due to the simcard it was too old and not compatible for the new phone.
    So I've placed the simcard into the micro simcard plastic layout and then back to my older phone and luckily it worked again. So in summary I had to purchase a new simcard for it :/

    However, the card remains at its G technology as it was released. Should you use it in a newer phone, able to connect in a superior G, that phone will not connect upper then the card's G. Ex: card 3G, phone capable 4G results phone will connect only to 3G

      Man thanks for replying but im really really confused,my old sim has so large gold part if i cut it maybe 1/4 of it will be gone and lines in the gold part will be cut

    • @kennethangelo4924

      That sim was I think from the first genaration of sim cards,had it since I was grade six torn between cutting it or not,btw also I already cut it to micro sim pretty works but then nano was so smaller it would cut almost 1/4 of the sim

    • @grokshop
      @grokshop  6 лет назад +2

      Sounds like you started with a mini-SIM, cut to micro-SIM & now need a nano-sized SIM? I've never tried that before. The actual contacts should still work, so that shouldn't be an issue. Some newer devices run the newer SIMs on 1.8v while the older ones can be 5 or 3.3v. If it requires a higher voltage, but only gets a lower voltage - it just won't work, but that can't kill your device. The biggest concern I would have is getting loose particles inside the phone which you can't easily get out. So if you cut it & the contacts are frayed or something, I would ditch it. Also make sure you can correctly orient it after all that cutting. But other than those caveats, it could still work & if it doesn't you're back where you started - just needing a new SIM card.

    Will this work going from a galaxy amp prime to a galaxy s9?

    • @grokshop
      @grokshop  6 лет назад

      According to www.devicespecifications.com, the GAP has a micro-sim & the s9 takes a nano sim. So, if that is correct, then this procedure would work for you.

    Will this work for an iPhone 5s?

    • @grokshop
      @grokshop  6 лет назад

      Hey Space Cosmo... iPhone 5 series was the first iPhone gen to use the nano-SIM format. Therefore if you have a micro-SIM & need that SIM to operate on an iPhone 5s, this procedure can definitely work for you. :O)
