    The NBA likely will veto free to play. Was an article a few years ago which said that NBA live was pretty much good to go but would only release as f2p which the NBA vetoed

      That's interesting. I didn't mention it here, but that's another reason the app becomes so important. It's already a successful work around, it's just not next gen controls yet.

      Listen I don’t want to waste anybody’s time but If the community wants change they need to start using their power effectively.
      🛑 tweeting 2K about the scamming and start tweeting the NBA and @ a news organization when you do.
      You have to go after the brand and the NBA is the brand. I guarantee you the second that the NBA is forced to address this change will occur.
      Also even If you plan on buying the game do not pre order it for God sakes.

    As a neuropsychologist and avid video gamer, you are absolutely right that psychologists play a big part in the circus of 2K. You painted a funny cartoon in my mind about psychologists sitting with the lizard people. I used to have a fantasy about driving to 2K (I live locally) to help them realize what they need to do to make their game better but stopped having that fantasy after realizing that they would never accept my help because my philosophy would go against 2K’s awful practices

    As always, very solid message. This 2k showed that if you don’t spend a lot of money, get very lucky or spend a lot of time, this game isn’t for you. In Previous 2ks, I could skip agendas or mode rewards and just get players I wanted from the AH if I couldn’t find the time to grind it out. This year, if you don’t get lucky and you don’t have the time, you just can’t fill certain spots on your roster. Often times, I don’t like the suggested players 2k wants me to use. I want to upgrade my team how I want. And because of that, I can’t see myself playing 2k25.

    Great video, man. This is my 4th myteam (started in 2k20, skipped 22), and I have been absolutely stunned at the complete lack of effort put into the mode this year. In my head, I imagine the whole team of devs quit or were let go early in the year and one guy just bumps old cards' ratings 2-5 points for new releases with the occasional improved jump shot/animations (which are all the same now anyway). There's almost nothing to do at all this year--because that would require effort. They treat the mode like it should be all profit with as little resources invested back into it to make it worth playing as possible. Major step backward, and we knew it would be when they pulled the plug on the auction house, but this got worse in so many other ways I hadn't expected.

      And it’s crazy because the business argument for this would be we are reinvesting that money into the game to give you a better product. They don’t even try to put that out there because they know they would get laughed out of the room.

    I made it like 18 minutes into the video, so I don’t know if you eventually touched on this, but the practices of this company is DISGUSTING.. If you don’t really play this game but curious to how it robs people, or if you wanna know the inside REAL truth on how slimey this company operates then read all this…. They charge full price for this game on release, then to have any chance of playing competitively online, expect you to spend up to another $100 right out the gate for your build. That in itself is deplorable, but it gets deeper… You may say, well you don’t have to spend any money you can grind mycareer till your build is upgraded, but the thing is they’ve made it soooo boring and tedious to grind your build that anyone with half a life outside of video games are going to say screw this and fork over the extra money to skip that bs. They made this game this way INTENTIONALLY. It would literally take you over a month to grind your build to a 99 without paying. Mind you the game only lasts a year before the next one releases and everything you PAID for is wiped clean and you start from scratch.. What makes this even more ridiculous is that during the games life cycle they tweak certain mechanics of the game like shooting, dribbling, defense, etc that can make the build you spent your hard earned money on, USELESS. So now you’re back spending more money to create another build. Also, they give you vague information on how badges work and what other badges they work well with, so you can create a build and it be completely garbage because of your badge setup, so now you’re back to spending on another build.. Then once you create your perfect build just like you want it and get it to a 90+ overall it still doesn’t function to its max potential, so now you have to buy Gatorade and attribute boosts. If you’re playing park the amount of vc you earn playing is nowhere near enough to recoup the vc you’ve spent on boosts and Gatorade.. So instead of grinding boring,tedious mycareer, people rather just buy it and be done. Then these 🍑holes added BADGE REGRESSION, which drops the badges you don’t use often, on a build you paid MONEY for, remember the majority of people spend close to $200 on these builds right out the gate. In order to keep a badge from regressing, they added a freakin BATTLE PASS to an already full priced game. In that battle pass are badges called floor setters. They lock whatever badge you don’t want to get regressed into place so it won’t regress. So to unlock different levels of floor setters you have to make it through the battle pass to reach that level. Don’t wanna grind to get your badge floor setters?? PAY UP! You can pay your way through the battle pass and even BUY other battle passes that have better cosmetic items and higher level floor setters… This game and company are milking these kids and financially irresponsible adults dry. It’s basically using people’s addiction to this game against them. I still didn’t even touch on the ridiculous prices of cosmetic items which is INSANE, some even cost more than their real world counterparts parts.. I’ll never support this despicable company again.💯

    great video Books, as always! you are such a unique, creative, person, who is very engaging and i always enjoy hearing your thoughts on any subject. the thing that makes me mad, is we have the power to send a powerful message by not preordering the game! that is probably the best way we could send a message, maybe if that had unusually low pre order numbers, it might make them say, "wow! maybe we F ed up here " and that could possibly promote change, at least in the short term.

    Yeah, but the biggest difference with NBA2K’s micro transactions is you pay and still don’t get what you want! 😏 Like for instance with GTA you pay for cash or a car you get that. With 2k you buy packs and ain’t nothing in it!! People literally pay $100’s of dollars and can’t pull a card from the set! 🤷🏾‍♂️

    Ngl you spitting when you said talked about the bots needing to be different in different game modes.
    And yeah they couldve added a rotating game mode in MyTeam. Like theater has LockDown, AND1, 2k15 1' and 2's, and 4pt dunks as temp modes. The modes are already made just anywhere to be found in MyTeam. Not even temporarily or as a rotating game mode slot

    EA has an advantage with college football and madden where they have a modern engine and a good game. 2k is a bad game. The animations are bad. Proplay made the game more sluggish. Go play college football online and come back and play a game of unlimited or rec. it feels like it’s played underwater.

    I get how you break down the year piece by piece but I think you missed the big picture, 2k's practices have gained national attention and as we know only congress can evoke the change we need. The author goes the route of highlighting gambling in a rated E for everyone game and pushing compulsive gambling on children who haven't developed the ability to resist those urges bc that's what will get the attention of Washington, and tbh that's what we need imo

    • @matthewbless3335
      @matthewbless3335 Месяц назад +1

      This goes back to the first point he made though. It's an article, not an exposè or an op ed piece. It only deals with the who, what, when, where, why. As such, there was no exhortation to congress to get involved, just the arguments made by both sides. Ergo, discussing what Congress should or shouldn't do is outside of the scope of the article and, by extension, this video.

    • @vaypuh
      @vaypuh Месяц назад

      @@matthewbless3335 First off, way too many commas bro. I know you're trying to be articulate but just be yourself. Second, this most definitely was an exposé intended or not and the terminology used will get Washington's attention bc underage gambling always does especially when they know they haven't been getting a cut🤣

    • @matthewbless3335
      @matthewbless3335 Месяц назад

      @vaypuh that *is* myself lol. I write a lot for a living. If I need to use a comma, I will.
      Anyway, this doesn't read in the slightest like a true exposè article. There's simply too much time given to both sides and the author doesn't really resolve the tension by giving their opinion. That's the issue here. It *just* gives the facts and what people say about the facts. Again, it'd be out of the scope of this particular article to make a plea to lawmakers. A follow-up op-ed would be a more appropriate place for that, presumably.

      @@matthewbless3335yea I’ve seen too many articles written that way on this 2k gambling stuff. I used to get excited seeing a mainstream news outlet write on it and then read the article and find the writer simply just summarized the events and didn’t provide some sort of solution or a way for users to protest these predatory tactics
