Interesting fact: pour spouts have a small hole around the rim that allows air to help the liquor flow. If it is covered it prohibits the flow from being consistent. So be sure not to cover it when using your index finger to secure the spout from coming off.
I' ve been learning soooooooo much with you....you cant believe how much...Thanks a lot for your videos... Always anxious for the new ones...Way to go !!
Wow.. you would be great teacher for those who can’t focus and absorb things easily! That would in fact be me, and you literally taught it so good that I feel confident and like I remember everything you said! I rarely get that feeling . Wow you’d make a great teacher . Think about it! Maybe even a teacher on how to bartend at a bartending school! Lol
Lol Hennessy, I taught at a bartending school for 3 years, so I think you're right lol. Thank you so much for watching and Im so glad you find the videos easy to learn from. I often wonder if what im saying makes sense in video form, so im glad that it seems they do. Stay tuned and thanks again!
Thank you Koven! Welcome to the club! I am glad you found this one helpful. Thank you for subscribing. I have so much more to come. Also, I started a website therockstarbargirl.com where I can do even more in-depth instruction. I would love if you checked it out. Thank you!
40 secs in and I already know that you are patient, very helpful, and a beautiful person. If your not already I think you should have a side job to teach other?
Oh wow, thank you so much. That means a lot that you feel I can help you already. I hope you get a chance to watch more videos and that you find them helpful. I taught at a bartending school for three years and now I am launching my own full online bartending class called the RockStar BarGirl Master Class. The first course is available now, so I hope you get a chance to check it out. please visit therockstarbargirl.com. Thank you!!
thank you for this!! 😭😭 my job decided to make everyone make their own drinks during low volume times which helps our pockets BUT we weren’t all trained the basics of bartending. we were only taught the drinks on our menu 🙄 thanks! Lol
You got this Chely! It can be nerve wrecking, but confidence will take you a long way. Believe in urself. When you're done with your shift you should check out my website therockstarbargirl.com, I've got some videos, courses and tools that aren't on my RUclips that might help you. Let me know how it goes!
Thank you so much for making these videos. I was trained on how to pour today and I was not getting it, but after watching this, I feel a lot more confident to try and practice a bit more!
Thank YOU Iyesha. I appreciate you tuning in so much. Confidence is a big part of a proper pour. I definitely recommend grabbing any empty liquor bottle and filling it with water. Even if you don't have pour top. Don't be afraid to make a mess and don't worry about accuracy. Just get the jiggers out. The reason pouring is so scary is because we are usually afraid to spill. So spilling at home when no one's watching is a great way to get over the fear of it happening. Spills happen to the best bartenders, so spill away! Also, don't know if you saw but I am doing a big giveaway this week in celebration of the launch of my online course. One of the prizes is a complete RockStar BarKit that includes speed pours, jiggers and shakers and everything else you need to practice at home. You should enter!! Instructions are on my ig page @rockstar_bargirl. Thanks again for watching!
You would be a wonderful teacher ...in any subject with how you explain things. You explain things very well! I'm taking notes .....interview next week ☺️
Brittany D thank u! I used to teach at a bartending school and im starting to teach classes from home. Im so glad you find my videos helpful! Thanks for watching!
OMG CONGRATULATIONS ROCKSTAR!! yssss. If they promoted you like that that means you already kick ass. You just need to learn some more bar specific information and you'll be set. Definitely watch all of the Basics 101 videos here on my channel. And when you get a chance, check out therockstarbargirl.com where I am going to be offering more in-depth classes and training materials that you might find helpful. Thank you boo and keep it up!
This year?! Let's make it this MONTH!! You can do this! Get started on getting that resume out to every bar or restaurant in your neighborhood and remember to get your foot in the door by applying broadly. Let me know how it goes!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoy my videos. Please check out my latest video, I'm doing a giveaway contest in celebration of the launch of my online course. I'm giving away some awesome stuff. You should enter! Thank you again for watching!
so so helpful you break everything down so well and answer all the basic questions I've always wondered but could never get easy answers for. thank you !!!
Thank you so much Dana! I am really happy to hear that my videos are helping you. I am taking my videos to the next level with an online course complete with videos, quizzes and downloads. So I hope you'll check out my website therockstarbargirl.com when you get a chance. Thanks so much!!
Thank you Savannah! I am so happy that you found it helpful and EMPOWERING. Yes! you can totally do this! If you can, please check out my website therockstarbargirl.com. I want to start offering even more in depth videos and training materials that I can't offer on RUclips. I'm giving away my first class free. Thank you again!
Thanks for watching Mike! I am so glad they help. That's awesome that you are already waiting tables. That experience will definitely help you as you start bartending. More to come, thanks again!
thank you for this. i volunteered to battens for my dads 50th party then realized i did t know what i was doing. this helped me not make a fool of myself
You're and excellent teacher, thorough and engaging. Im new to bartending and I feel much more confident from watching you. Also I love your voice. You're too cute!
Thank you so much Indigo! I am so happy that my videos have made getting into bartending a little bit easier. Stay tuned, there's so much more to come. Thanks for watching!
Counting is difficult for me. I tend to go too fast because the owner of my bar always says it's too much and he doesn't believe in counts because you go by how full it is. But I don't believe that because sometimes your pouring into used 'seasoned' glasses or the ice may not be packed down perfectly each time..
Thanks! I think it's the most common method used for accurate free pouring. As I said, you can use any number or system as long as you have a consistent system and steady pour. Thanks for watching!
Thank you my love. I always look back at my old videos and think I look so crazy lol. I am so glad u like the way it all turned out. stay tuned for more and thanks again!
Hi pretty can you do a mother video on the pour count for most of the measurements , like 1/4 1/8 like how many counts or method made easy to remember please
Hi my love thanks for watching! I am not sure that I will be doing another YT video on pouring as this one is pretty comprehensive and I also cover pouring in my online course now available on my website therockstarbargirl.com. But the good news is, there isn't actually anything to remember or cover. It's just a math thing. If you are using a 4 count to measure an ounce, then 3/4 of an ounce is a 3 count, 1/2 an ounce is a 2 count and a 1/4 ounce is a 1 count. 1/8 ounce is a very small amount and wouldn't be measured by a count system. You would use a dropper for that or a jigger. Hope that helps! And thanks again for watching!
I just took a bartending course after watching you.My question is how do i get a job .i was a cocktail waitress already and most clubs now dont have waitresses just bartenders or bottle service girls.im from cali but live in st louis mo. I don't know how to get the job.they all want experienced bartenders.the trainer has a mobile service and she said she would inform me if she needs assistance but until then .Any suggestions?? It would not be good to me to throw behind a bar by myself im nervous and of course a newbie and i dont want be behind the bar and not remember all the drink recipes.ty you are the best..@rockstarbargirl
Hi doll, thanks for watching! I definitely hope that you have checked out my Job Search videos. Perfecting your resume and attacking the job search process aggressively are definitely key to success. Unfortunately, getting a job in any industry is not able to be reduced to a comment. But I know that if you make getting a job, your new job, you will get there. Good luck!
Holy shit you are a fucking scientist.. I will copy and paste your strategy exactly! I have zero experience but am very tired of Domino's, Uber Eats and DoorDash treating me like total garbage... I am going to lie and say I have 5 years of experience
I gonna have bartender interview after a few day. I'm so nervous.cuz my mother language is not English. I'm so scared can not get this job. Could u give me some advice?i don't have any idea about this interview.
Eva, You are going to do GREAT! Language is no barrier. In fact, being multi-lingual is a huge benefit alot of times. Speaking another language is a great skill. Not to mention, having an accent is exotic and cool lol!! Let your knowledge show and approach the situation in a confident matter. And remember that one interview is just one interview. Keep putting yourself out there! Let me know how it goes. Good luck, but you don't need it because you are already a rockstar
lol, you mean change like coins? Give that shit back. Lol no, JK. I'm not sure there's a trick to that one. Count slow so you don't mess up and have to start over! Thanks for watching!
Hello Jack, thank you for reaching out. You can email me at aly.kravetz@therockstarbargirl.com. You can also learn more about my corporate training course for bars and restaurants on my website therockstarbargirl.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
Hi Kira! Great question. So shot glasses can actually be anywhere from an ounce to 3 ounces. There's really no rule about what size a glass has to be for a glass maker to call is a "shot" glass. There's a difference between a "shot" and a "shot glass". For drink making purposes, you should consider a shot to be one ounce. While the glass you pour that into could be bigger. I would check out my video on glassware for more glassware rules. I hope that helps!! And thank you so much for watching!
Yes Destinee, a couple of things could be going on here. First, make sure that you are fully turning the bottle all the way right-side up. If you hold the bottle only halfway, the liquid will trickle. But if that isn't the issue, then it just means that the pour top doesn't fit in the bottle neck. Every bottle is different unfortunately. So either switch to a bottle with a smaller neck or get a larger speed pourer. Try barproducts.com for different speed pourer sizes. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Haha! No worries. a one ounce pour is just a starting point to learn from. Always use the specs your establishment give you. And yes, I have noticed that places outside of the big cities tend to be heavy on the pours lol. 2 ounces is definitely on the high end. But hey, cheers! Lol! Thanks for watching!
Don't be scurrrred! Lol congrats and remember that it's all a learning experience. Mistakes will happen and it's going to be ok. Stay sober, work hard and be honest. Best!
I suppose this has also to do with US anger at Afruca for many reasons which may include the ICJ case by Namibia vs Germany who is a staunch ally of the US in the Isarelis vs Palestinians war. I think Africans should think twice before considering going to these countries which are so angry with Africans for various reasons. They have said it, Africa will be punished.
Aly, do you get anything for this? (other than love and looking beautiful on camera? ;-)). I'm inspired! i want to create a channel that teaches people holistic healing. You are my inspiration, lady friend!! :-)
Thanks Donovan! You can get paid for ad views if you have enough traffic on your page, but it takes alooot before it's something you could live on. Create the channel for the fun of it!
I'd never hold a bottle like that: too much tension, after hours of pouring my hands and wrists would be screaming, not to mention it makes it harder to spin the bottle while opening and closing the pour. Only use high quality pourers and you'll never worry about them popping out.
Also, you pour diagonally, which is weird, probably because of your hold. You should make sure when pouring the liquid is flowing vertically, so keeping the bottle at around 1:05 (given the pourer is a bit bent to the side): that would help with basic moves such as stopping the flow to go from a glass to the next when preparing multiple cocktails at once and poring with two bottles at once. I like your attitude and clarity, but your technique seems improper.
Thanks for sharing your views Mr Knarf! I hope my viewers find them helpful. Good thing bartending is such a diverse art and not so much of a science. Thanks again for watching!
Yes Victor, out of the trash. The point of this video is to teach you how to pour a shot properly without measuring and that takes practice. The best way to do this is to take an empty bottle and fill it with water. So you can get the bottle anywhere. Including from the trash. Certainly dont use a brand new bottle of real spirit just to practice pouring. What a waste that would be. Hope that clears that up. And thanks for watching!
Definitely a cheap weave and this video is from 5 years ago lol. But thank you! When you get a chance, check out the "Getting Personal with RSBG" playlist on my page where I posted some videos documenting the natural hair care journey I've been on for the last year or so. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
Interesting fact: pour spouts have a small hole around the rim that allows air to help the liquor flow. If it is covered it prohibits the flow from being consistent. So be sure not to cover it when using your index finger to secure the spout from coming off.
Yes you are absolutely right! I forgot to mention that, so thank you so much. And thanks for watching!
All of them don't have that hole

I like the 4 count trick
Thanks! I think it's the most common method used for accurate free pouring. As I said, you can use any number or system as long as you have a consistent system and steady pour. Thanks for watching!
For sure I'm trying to get into this line of work and I really feel like you explain things well thanks for providing excellent content!!!
Thank you..You look great i love the hair..U are great at this

Any advice on how to count all the change customers give yah... 😫
lol, you mean change like coins? Give that shit back. Lol no, JK. I'm not sure there's a trick to that one. Count slow so you don't mess up and have to start over! Thanks for watching!

what is the best way to get in touch with you
Hello Jack, thank you for reaching out. You can email me at aly.kravetz@therockstarbargirl.com. You can also learn more about my corporate training course for bars and restaurants on my website therockstarbargirl.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
I thought shot glasses were 1.25-1.5 ounces. I keep reading that everywhere so I’m confused now.

RockstarBarGirl thank you for answering :-)
I work in a high volume club that uses jiggers😵
But I speed pour with it by never letting the bottle down and having the glasses touching eachother.
Drink the bottle first, and then you have a mt bottle, invite a couple friends to help, only a couple 🤣🤣nice video by the way
Gary, in my humble opinion, this is in fact the BEST way to obtain an empty bottle 😋
Omfg I am from Wisconsin and they had me making drinks one day, they told me it was an 8 count FUCK 🤣🤣🤣
Haha! No worries. a one ounce pour is just a starting point to learn from. Always use the specs your establishment give you. This is a great video but currently a shot is traditionally 1.5 oz! This is coming from a bartender!

"Out of a trash" wtf!!?
Yes Victor, out of the trash. The point of this video is to teach you how to pour a shot properly without measuring and that takes practice. The best way to do this is to take an empty bottle and fill it with water. So you can get the bottle anywhere. Including from the trash. Certainly dont use a brand new bottle of real spirit just to practice pouring. What a waste that would be. Hope that clears that up. And thanks for watching!
RockstarBarGirl “yes victor,” LMAOO I could read that eye roll

Definitely a cheap weave and this video is from 5 years ago lol. But thank you! When you get a chance, check out the "Getting Personal with RSBG" playlist on my page where I posted some videos documenting the natural hair care journey I've been on for the last year or so. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
