      I would say that the situation in Brazil is more starkly contrasted then in the States. What I mean by that is that the two Brazilian candidates have wildly different views for the future of the nation, while the GOP and Democrats in the States agree on almost 90% of subjects, with the exception of maybe one of two differences.

      Republicans and democrats both protect the rich, I think Republicans ONLY want to protect the rich and democrats may want to do other things besides protect the rich if they're sufficiently pressured by their left flank.

    As a Brazilian I can say that during Lula and Dilma's terms in the past, our biggest difficulty was security, I'm not part of the upper middle class population, yet I had my house invaded 3 times, I was robbed on the street 3 times, daily the news was about robberies people, robberies stores and kidnappings. We had no peace. However, during Bolsonaro's term, we had the pandemic, he was unhappy in many of his speeches, crime still exists and needs to be fought, but it has decreased, I could see it in my daily life - when Lula won, the first thing we see is bandits and prisons celebrating, because they know that Lula's government turns a blind eye to many things. You talked about many things, but you didn't talk about security. Most Brazilians I know who immigrated to another country say that their main reason is because they feel more secure, among other things.

    I found it interesting to talk about the number of deaths in Brazil during the pandemic, but they forgot to mention that ex-convict Lula, during his government, preferred to build football stadiums, for the cup instead of building hospitals as the population asked. even Lula said that it would be a step backwards not to hold the cup.
    Another interesting point is that they forgot to talk about the amount of money released in the Bolsonaro government to fight the pandemic.
    On the other hand, the subsidy that Lula proposed to help the poor people did not reach R$100.00 with the aid approved by Bolsonaro, it is at R$600.00.

    It should have been mentioned that Lula's conviction was annulled because the judge who oversaw the process was considered biased - and indeed, following Lula's arrest he became minister in the very administration that he helped elect. An absolutely disgusting show of partial judgement.
    It's also worth mentioning that the 2014-2015 crisis was worldwide, and that we're currently under another commodities boom - but under this administration, a spike in commodities' prices means a higher cost of living for the working class.

    • @stanmarsh820
      @stanmarsh820 Год назад +6

      I hear you but a fair covering of what happened with Lula would make this video two times longer. Moro indeed committed formal nullities in the process, but the material was sent to higher courts and his prison was maintained. Side processes showed that corruption happened, and the companies involved even still paying reparations. Technically, what the supreme court did was sent the case to the correct jurisdiction, nullifying all the acts of the incompetent judge. This means, Lula still can be sent to jail with the same case, but now by the right judge.

    • @Roupi

      @gdf_6c Год назад +10

      @@stanmarsh820 - oh, I wasn't asking for details, just stating the reasoning behind the annulment. That's not trivial.
      Wrong jurisdiction was a previous ruling - in fact, it was an attempt by one of the Supreme Court judges to somewhat save something from the whole process. A later ruling recognized judge Moro had been biased, a more profound procedural flaw which is far from a mere technical mistake.
      Sure, anyone could be sent to jail at any time - so that hardly means anything. However, Lula faced a number of other accusations and was acquitted from all of them, save from the one who was conducted by a biased judge.
      At any rate, this accusation already expired the statute of limitations, having been archived by the prosecutor's office on these grounds.

And now, in 2022, Lula is on again bringing corrupt politicians into power. In 2026 the far-right will come even stronger than now due to the immense corruption we will see in the next 4 years, and the responsibility lies with Lula.

    Some of the aspects of this report were quite shallow and superficial. As much as it is supposed to be a short video, some highly important points weren’t mentioned:
    1. They didn’t say why Lula was sent to jail specifically. He was sent to jail for allegations of illegal acquisitions of properties related to the Petrobras scandal. The reason why he was set free was because these allegations were proven false. Not to mention the corruption at Petrobras didn’t start in his government.
    2. The reason why so many people hate Lula and are afraid of his return is not because of corruption. They fear the return of the social inclusion Lula implemented while he was in office. Notoriously the least advantaged sector of the Brazilian population are African and indigenous descent. They are the ones who came out of poverty and started to travel on planes, go to university etc causing a huge discomfort to the conservative sector of the middle and upper classes due to Lula’s social reforms. Therefore that’s what they fear the most.
    3. Lula’s achievement were superficially stated. Under his government Brazil left the Hunger Map, payed off the debt they had with the IMF and actually became one of their creditors, became the 6th largest economy in the world, records in employment, records in creating infrastructure in the whole country etc.
    4. Together with Russia, India, China and South Africa, the BRICS were formed and this caused a threat to the American Empire, once the BRICS discussed the creation of a bank where a new currency would be used to trade commodities amongst them instead of the American dollar.
    5. Due to the investments in research, Petrobras found a huge amount of oil under the salt layer on the seabed called Pre-Salt. Further down the track, Dilma announced huge investments in Education from the royalties out of this new resource. The Empire supposedly helped the opposition to remove her from office, so that big oil corporations could buy it through the privatisation of Petrobras, which has actually been a process that started since Dilma was impeached and continued during Bolsonaro’s government.
    As for Bolsonaro, several scandals were not mentioned, in particular the supposedly covered up assassination of Rio’s councillor Marielle Franco, who strongly fought against the favela militias, which have direct ties with Bolsonaro’s family.
    And last, but not least (as the list is immense), Bolsonaro has a strong influence in neopentecostal churches. Notorious corrupt “owners/pastors/entrepreneurs” of these churches are beneficiary by him. The increasing number of evangelicals have blindly voted for Bolsonaro, turning their blind eye to the victims of COVID, the destruction of the Amazon, Bolsonaro’s pro-gun law, misogyny, homophobic and racist stance, not to mention other immoral practices and values.

    I go to Brazil every 3 months and do social work in the favelas and just left there Oct. 10th. It's kinda heated there now. Lula supporters wearing red while Bolsonaro supporters wearing the Brazilian jerseys of green & yellow. Apparently (my friends there said) Bolsonaro high jacked the country's flag🇧🇷 which is why many Brazilians no longer wear their jerseys. I could go on & on.
    Everytime I return tho, all I can say is that I'm glad I was born in the 🇺🇲... in THIS era. It's very hard to survive in Brazil right now with their high prices & low salaries.😞

      It's been rated well by international bodies and investigations since their inception have demonstrated a statistically non existent rate of fraud.
      So the president is complaining out something that isn't broken...but is trying to use that as cover to Stoke doubt in a bad outcome....
      It's obvious what he is doing.
      Like comeon you are taking his word for it, which is obviously motivated. These statements don't exist in a vacuum btw.
      He actually said prior to round 1 ,has he not won first round with 60 percent something's wrong.(an assinine statement....Lula never first ballot and he was way more popular as president (pre lava jato of course)than jair is. I think first round happened once (since 85) with Cardoso and getting 60 in the first round is insane as it is.
      That context makes the machine stuff way worse in total.
      Btw he did way better round 1 than anyone anticipated so idk maybe he doesn't actually need the doubt. It's also funny that he shut up less about the machines when his coalition did well in terms of Congress and Senate seats and he was only 5 points back of Lula. Is Pl's majority fraudulent by his logic? Same machines

    Voters from both sides think they're voting for the best candidate, even though both of them don't have a clear plan for the economy, jobs, or income. Brazilian debates are basically about who promises to give more aid to the poor, without explaining how funding. Is more about hope than real plans.
    Brazilians learn football and religion before politics, they think it's all about choosing a side to give unconditional support and another to full blame for everything wrong. People are blind and emotional, leading the future of the country to fascism or bankruptcy through their vote.
