  • In this video I show how to put a custom firmware on the WYZE Cam v3 wifi camera to access the RTSP stream. I show how to add the camera to Blue Iris, the security camera management software and NVR. The WYZE cam is only around $30 making it one of the cheapest WiFi cameras you can use with Blue Iris or another NVR. The WYZE Camera features 1080p full HD video, motion and sound detection, night vision, two-way audio, and time-lapse recording.

    Blue Iris already has a selection in the vendor list for the Wyze Cam v3 running the RTSP firmware. It simply requires the IP address and login credentials to add the camera.

    Good walk through. I had a lot of issues though, as I couldn't update the firmware. The purple light never came on. I found that you have to use a 32GB micro sd card or less for it to work. I had a 128GB card and that kept failing to enter the firmware update mode.

    Great video. You mentioned putting the cameras on a separate VLAN. I've done this, however, for Wifi IOT devices like my Eufy doorbell, I have to have my cell phone on the same VLAN IOT VLAN which I don't like. I've set PFsense to not allow the cameras on the internet with separate rules. All of that to say, do you have a good way of keeping your cellphone away from the IOT devices? Thanks.

    • @learnblueiris
      @learnblueiris  Год назад +1

      That is a tough one! One suggestion (outside the box here) would be to get an old iPhone or Android phone and have that be your "IoT control device" that doesn't leave the house. Only keep the IoT apps on it but no personal data or apps. iPhone 8's are still supported by the latest Apple OS (iOS 16) and they are very affordable on the used market. Other than that, it's difficult to control the devices on the same network without the device being on the network. Each device will use ports/protocols that would have to be opened up to your trusted network and that would be difficult to manage. As usual, thank you for watching and supporting the channel.
