I've been saying this for years - ManUtd are no longer a footballing force. No one was ever going to replace Ferguson and, instead of having a 5-year plan of rebuilding from scratch, they've run around like headless chickens. Maybe it's time for Ferguson to step away from the club, because his shadow still looms large, being a constant reminder of past glories.

Rashford who is Sancho's mate, was fine for coming in late and he was professional enough to not repeat it again. Sancho needs to big up. Re Sancho & what Micah said: maybe Ten Hag has grown tired of dealing with Sancho with an arm round the shoulder as it hasn't produced results over the past year (already given him time off to get things right in Holland, probably tried other stuff too) and this was the final straw for a player, no doubt outrageously talented, who hasn't twigged if the rumours are true about time keeping. It's been said elsewhere, but maybe a public statement, however innocuous he felt it was, was an effort to provoke a spark. Clearly Sancho didn't see it that way.

Imo Ten hag is the last of the worries at United as mentioned it all stems from the top. how fans after 5 games have turned on the manager already is a joke. the club is poisoned with a toxic fanbase when last season United probably over-achieved. The fact that Ten Hag is the one making most decisions on who they sign is worrying, no top club leaves it all down to the manager its what a recruitment team is for and needing a DOF. It seems fans don't see that and just blame the manager. yes manager can take blame for some things of course but there's far bigger issues that aren't being looked at.

Manchester United's issues are way above Ten Hag. The problem at United is that the expectation is to compete for the highest honors but the board do not make it easy for the manager to really challenge at all. For example, Maguire staying and signing Evans is shambolic business. If the board are going to make decisions like that then you might as well lower the standards and expectations of United as a whole. You can't expect to win titles making dumb decisions like that time and time again. Just be honest. Top 4 is all United care about nowadays

Most of Liverpool's title drought was under an incompetent Arthur Moores who inherited the club from his family. Moores never built anything successful on his own. The Glazer brothers are of the same ilk, never built anything significant on their own. Liverpool's ownership group now comprises of self-made men, one of whom literally grew up in soy bean farm and traded the commodity to make his first millions before forraying into sport ownership and Brighton's owner is of the same ilk.

Players aren't playing more minutes with the extra time in matches though because teams can change half their team during matches now. Teams regularly make 5 or more changes.

If you're late at most jobs you get a warning and then disciplinary...if you're then late again you could lose your job. The amount of money that footballers earn 10% of their weekly wage amounts to some peoples yearly salaries. They really take for granted what a blessed life they lead and they can easily live after getting fined, but then complain of unfair treatment. People get sacked for being late in most jobs!!!

Ten Hag is Dutch and he has that culture - very open to point of rudeness compared to an Englishman; understanding and able to compromise, which will get interpreted as indecisiveness; very confident of his capabilities and not afraid to state what his team can do, which sounds detached or arrogant if things don't work out.
Nevertheless he is a top modern manager. That said, the statistics show that a manager is responsible for 5-10% of the result, the players for the vast majority.
