When i was a kid i always thought my CD was messed up but i loved it.
When I was eight years old, I got a Hybrid Theory CD and when Cure for the Itch came on, my CD actually was broken. Sometimes I waited for like five minutes for the song to continue properly, but eventually I just skipped to Pushing me away. A couple years later I heard the entire song for the first time.

I know Linkin Park are recognized for mixing rock and rap together, but what I don't think gets acknowledged enough is their intergration of electronica.
I think these songs they used to do were pretty instrumental in the development of post-rock.

Oh, but you are wrong about that, they are recognized by electronics being used as well. It's all three. In latter albums after Minutes to Midnight, that's where they became more involved with electronics and became less rocky.

I remember when I discovered this on one of the Matrix soundtracks and was elated; I always thought it fit perfectly with that sort of gritty post-urban theme. Love it.

Haven't been a Linkin Park fan in years but its honestly a shame that Mr. Hahn didn't do some solo material like this. A full electronic album from him would probably have been pretty sweet.
I think I kinda see where you trying to come to which your comment. I think that, due to his creativity potential in electronic music not being fully made use of at LP, Hahn should had tried to produce an album on his own so as to be more free/not restricted to the limits imposed by the Nu metal genre....I guess way back then, he couldnt made use of all that he knew as it wouldnt simply fit with LP core material!
This was mostly Shinoda and he's done a lot of solo stuff
Mike created the majority of this instrumental in the back of the bus in pro tools recording software. It felt unfinished for over a year… until Brad, Phoenix, and Joe put their touches on it in the studio at NRG. Months later, the band and mixer Andy Wallace added a new dynamic to the song with quick panning accents in the turntable solo, most noticeable when wearing headphones.

Sick song to one the best endings in an episode the sopranos. Season 5 Episode 7 in camelot, shows Tony at bada bing, smoking a cigar and watching girls dance, like a boss. The scene and the song blended so well.

Dark and atmospheric, lots of quad memories I used to go out at night with this track in my ears.
In under two minutes and a half the rhythm in this song is transformed, simplified, enriched, raised, lowered, muffled, silenced, distorted, reversed, and finally, disintegrated (last 2 bars). Always keeping the same off beats. Genius!

When i was a teenager and listened to LP, i just enjoyed the music that hit me, but im not even sure why, it just felt close to me.
Now at 30 years old, after a long journey of overcoming depression and childhood trauma, i am LIVING and ENJOYING life, and chasing the dreams i always had (photo and cinematography career). The songs have a whole new meaning to me and i can really imagine what the band and especially chester had been going through to come up with these pieces. It really is music at its finest, it catches your ear with the sound but there's are deep meaning behind the songs, that has the power to transform lives, or at least give people a sense of belonging when they need it the most.
RIP Chester. Never forget the first time I geard this track on The Sopranos..

Fun fact : in Iran, this song was used in the Quoran channel as background music in the description of one of the verses.
I was 9 when I saw it and I found it to be very funny because the Iranian state owned channels were trying to extract an anti-american message from everything whilst using an american song😃.

"This guy" is not Joe. Mike Shinoda did most of the work on this track.
Mike in 2005 regarding each member's role on this track: "I probably got Sessions about 85 percent of the way and something needed to be added. The other guys knew what it was. Brad came in with some guitar, Phoenix with bass and Joe with scratching. It’s very fluid, and the digital elements are very chopped up and harsh. I think it’s cool. That electronic element has always been there in the band - it’s just that sometimes we bring it closer to the front.".
Mike was the Jimmy Page of the band, he was the guy who composed and produced stuff mainly.

Edit: I know Ambient/Secret (the hidden track on "Part of Me") is just a demo of this without scratching, but it's easier to hear the background instruments. This is basically Ambient/Secret combined with Technique. Somebody made a version without all the static/Morse code, I'll post that when I find it.
