I am pretty sure the SSD is in a metal casing and the casing is longer than the pcb / circuit board of the SSD since it is solid state and has no moving parts. He appears to have simply trimmed down the housing to fit in the 2.5 inch bay with the NVMe. The SSD inside of the casing is likely much shorter than the casing and it is why he was about to trim it back like that. It is a good idea really because it does not remove the other parts of the casing that insulate the chips on the SSD and protect it but it kind of ventilates the end of the SSD allowing more heat to escape also. it just happens to be escaping in the direction of the NVMe which may or may not be a bad thing. It might not be a significant enough amount to even matter. I've wondered if I could do this in a Dell Latitude 5500 laptop and have a 12TB SSD and a 12 TB NVMe 2.m 2280 installed with 64 gb of ram. I am thinking this "could" work but I am not sure. I do know each thing SATA and the NVMe slot can handle up to 4TB I believe. I've checked around and people have installed up to 4TB and one guy said he had success with 8 in the NVMe slot. If you had 2x12 you'd have 24 TB of space. That's alot for a little laptop especially if you had the smaller 13.3 inch screen version.
Another nifty idea... the casing is made to dissipate heat and protect the circuitry of the drive from other circuitry and while opening the end of the casing is probably safe right there this may potentially reduce the heat dissipation by removing metal. What if you used aluminum ducting foil that is thicker than normal aluminum foil and placed this over the end which was cut with the dremel and then just wrap around it with electrical tape to insulate and affix it to the casing ? This would maintain the conductivity of heat dissipation on the end and the electrical tape insulates against electrical charges so it should be safe and a cheap way to ensure that nothing gets into the end of the drive and help the laptop maintain its proper temperatures inside.

Hello! I think you can't, because in the BIOS you have up to 2 options only to enable SATA devices. About the adapter, to install the SSD, you have to buy the Caddy and the SATA cable. I think that when it comes to the adapter there should be no problem.

In my country, the cost of the real Dell E5570 SATA cable is almost 2x the cost of the E5470 cable. In my understanding, an mSATA to SATA adapter is much smaller than a 2.5" SSD. With the smaller size, in theory I am able to save some money with buying the E5470 cable instead. Will this work? Thanks in advance.
You could have just gotten a different battery and forgo all the cutting. Aftermarket batteries are $30 and the caddy isn't really necessary. These older laptops most likely have a degraded battery, so a new smaller one will perform similar or better.
1.- The battery works perfectly. 2.- Even if I remove the battery, the 2 disks DO NOT FIT together (SSD and M.2) because the SATA cable does not reach. 3.- The Caddy is necessary otherwise there is no way to hold the SSD, otherwise it would be loose inside the notebook.

La verdad, no estoy seguro si hay una regla para saber... yo entiendo que mientras más capacidad tenga el SSD, más lugar va a usar dentro del case... pero también depende de qué tecnología tenga, si el disco es "viejo" calculo que con 250 (como es el del video) o 500 podés, si es de 1GB no creo... pero la verdad no hay seguridad... si tenés un disco, buscá algún video a ver si hay que desarmen el mismo modelo a ver si es corta o larga la placa, es lo que hice antes de cortar el del video. From what they say in the specifications, it should be exactly the same as the notebook in the video. Please note that the M.2 is SATA, not NVMe. And yes, you're going to need that support. Luck!

That depends on the GPT or MBR. To boot with 2 or more operating systems, you need a bootloader (GRUB, LILO, Windows Boot Manager, etc.), regardless of whether you have 1 or more disks.

No, porque si tenés pueso el M.2 no te entra el SSD... y si tenés puesto el SSD no entra el M.2... es una cuestión de diseño que nunca voy a entender...

Not HDD... only SDD and cutting it as shown in the video...HDD cannot be cut.

Donde se consigue el adaptador para el M.2, ya que en las lap que tengo de ese modelo no tiene donde atornillarlo y por lo tanto queda flojo
Esta notebook vino solo con M.2.... entonces ya tenía para atornillarlo... lo que compré en eBay fue el caddy y el cable SATA para el disco...

I never felt a bad smell. It also doesn't happen when it's hot. It must be in need of maintenance (internal cleaning)
