Great review Christo! However, I still feel like the ship feels too small! In my opinion, it should be AT LEAST 10% bigger in every dimension!
Love the input Oaktown! i feel like thats a common ground here and debate with the set and many other lego star wars sets that have been releasing.

Inflation has made these sets so expensive and because of that lego wants you to be able to afford it and that means they have to cut costs somewhere and size is the best for that because you take out some pretty expensive pieces which makes it cheaper and overall can make it easier to assemble
A few years ago, before inflation, Lego wasn't taking out expensive pieces or cutting down the size, and sets were less expensive than now
The size is absolutely perfect. Forgetting the cost, how many collectors can realistically display the big UCS sets… especially the Star Destroyer and Millennium Falcon which are absolutely massive? I want more sets like this in this scale. Will defo be picking up for my collection.
I can’t help but feel that the 2006 ISD was peek, it was the biggest of the play set models and the interior is easily customizable with plenty of space for mini figs
That was a really solid ISD. For modern day, I still feel this is a solid build
Excellent review! I'm such a fan of this set and came across your review and you nailed all the main points. As someone who owns the 2006 version, yes this one won't live up to the size or nostalgia of that one but I think this version wins in regards to detailing and execution. Overall I'm very satisfied with this set, just wish they included 1 more stormtrooper! Definitely a day 1 purchase for me, can't wait to compare this to the 2006 one. Keep up the great work! 👍🏻
I like the smaller sets in general because they fit better on my bookcase shelves. Plan to buy this down the road once there are some discounts. Had the first minifig star destroyer but ended up selling it, got tired of hitting it since it stuck out on the shelf and knocking parts off.

They are cutting down the size to make it less expensive for them to make it, but when they sell it, they dont cut down the price

To me it is just fine. It is a toy set, not a display set. It is meant to be played with and not just stand on shelf and collect dust. The size acceptable imho. Weight probably so too. Kid can grab it , move around and perhaps even a bit more without as much of a risk to completely destroy it as with the dispaly sets.

This is great I feel, it ticks all the boxes and manages to do it at the minimum size that it requires to be. Minifigs aren't mind-blowing apart from Cal. I like these smaller builds especially when space to display is an issue. Can't wait to buy this one.

Im kind of curious if the interior can be moded for micro scale if you use 3 or 4 studs to represent different charcters and if you could have a decent bridge layout at that scale rather than using the minifigs.

I owned the 2006 star destroyer but honestly so excited about this one. The old was so fragile and fell apart constantly.
Hey! Great review, but I’ve got something to add. There are two flaps on top of the liftable section that give you access to the handle without taking it off! I think the box should tell you 👍🏻
The size is great for my ever decreasing shelf space also it has some good minifigs like the gunner and navy trooper since I don’t have them in my imperial army (not to mention Cal Kestis!)
I see the positives but still think it could have been bigger. In addition, i want Lego ships to start building with a different type of interior in mind. Size may have been limiting, but i want them to start aiming for sleeping quarters on large ships. Or even segmenting into rooms.

They cut down the size, yet its still more expensive than when they weren't cutting down the size
yeah i feel my uncle always complains about this as hes been collecting for decades! Its definitely an issue.

Good review. It feels refreshing to hear a more nuanced take for once.
I tend to judge sets based on what they are, rather than what they aren't. I too would have preferred it to be larger, that doesn't detract from the actual build for me. It looks clean and sturdy, the proportions are on point and really, that's all I can ask for from any set.
I don't know why they used a character from fairly recent video games for an anniversary. Then again I still don't get why the Imperial Dropship battle pack was remade for an anniversary set either. I mean, I don't care about minifigs in the slightest, but well... "Lego be weird, yo."

Love the exterior and especially the interior detail, but the small size is the main drawback.
It's most noticeable in the bridge section. You barely have room for the officers below or for someone on the catwalk. It looks like they're walking the plank 😅😭
Fair point! To my surprise you can fit all 7 minifigures inside this ship with room for more. But I do see, the bridge is a little condensed in relation to length of the ship
I think that it is a little bit expensive.. I hope that Lego release more ships specifically this one, on the size of the new ucs tie interceptor, I prefer those

It will be tough waiting for a ucs version as the ucs version just retired i think 2022.

no, smaller sets are much better (several big set take way too much space), especially with such a great level of detail.
