I appreciate the footage after the finish in addition to the race footage. The ladies are totally spent and that's emotional to watch, for me at least. Thank you!
just watching this race on mute for practice and i've realised you cox bare foot? is that a normal thing or something done in different places because at my boat club every cox does it in trainers, wellies or of course crocs no offense meant at all and this is an old video but i'm just wondering
Hi EvenWeave, great question-- As the cox in this vid I can address that for you. Technically, yes, we can be penalized. Practically, no. Coxswains are not realistically listened to that closely, not to mention the fact that I am on the opposite side from shore with several other crews and many sounds between us. I personally don't like swearing in races. It was a specific request from this boat. I find that on occasion, a strategic curse word or two can highlight your intensity and rally your crew. Some coxswains curse up a storm, but I tend to think that cadence, calm assertiveness, and sincere passion can do that just as well.
Commenting on an old video here but just wanted to say I can really hear the passion in your calls. Very motivating.
