    I kind of do want to be a bit mean about Earth Runners, but maybe that's just me with my wide feet. They weren't wide enough for me and their thinner models, at 8mm, aren't that thin. The resulting sandal I found very uncomfortable. In the end I took the strap off and put it on a Xero Shoes kit sandal sole, which, from memory, is 4mm. It's certainly nice and thin, grippy and durable. It's also made wide so people unlike me can trim it to fit. My Xero-ER hybrid, untrimmed, is pretty much perfect for me.
    You can buy Earth Runners straps and buckles separately, so there's a little plug to make up for the meanness.

    You can apparently get a vegan pair of any of their models via special ordering for the same price, which is awesome for me!

    First, you answered my leather vs rubber Shamma question. Secondly, you answered my Shamma and/or Earth Runner question.

    Hi, do you have in the Shamma and in the Earth Runners the same size? I have a Shamma and I am wondering if I can just order the Earth Runner in the same size

    Question: is the tread cushiony or rigid? I wear the Xero Prio and the balls of my feet hurt in them (especially if I take out the removable insole) since I run forefoot on paved surfaces. The tread on the bottom of those is made from very rigid rubber.
    The best way to test that is to wear them and jump onto a hard concrete floor. The more it hurts and the more noise it makes, the less cushiony they are.

      Hmm, its hard to describe as cushiony since its so very thin, but its definitely not rigid. More like a thick skin.

      @@EmilyPorter Thanks 😊
      It's really hard to know how something would feel without actually physically having it. I can order and return if I don't like a product, but that's a hassle.

    Your sandals remind of the book "born to run" where Apache strapped tire tread on their feet to go on runs. I saw Unrest, So it makes my Day to see You Happy in Nature.

      I forgot to mention that book was a good read, I'm 1/4 Apache and have loved running my whole life. The book showed me my running technique was wrong all these years. I see You running in Vidz and it seems it bring Joy to You, I'm in Ca , however , I wish I could go for a Run with You.

      Sounds fun:) I'm doing the Maffetone method for training right now to heal my adrenals which means I can't let my heart beat get too high, so I haven't been running as much, but sometimes I have to for a bit to get it up high enough. I have read that book many years ago and his newer book Natural Born Heros. They are excellent! Have you tried thin soles or running barefoot yet?

    • @EmilyPorter
      @EmilyPorter  6 лет назад

      Have you seen the documentary Racing the Rez? That is a good one to check out. Heartwarming.

      Hope the heal'n goes well, I need to research that technique .Over last week, I tapered off my one cup a coffee a day, since last summer. My body/adrenals are letting me know its now time for a break. I will have to check out the newer book. Where I live ,Ventura, the closes thing to being able to run barefoot is the river bottom , its nice and flat, however due to the homeless ,metal, broken bottles are common.
      I haven't bought new running shoes for like tens years, so they are the closes thing to simulate the tire tread. No injuries ever. Funny ,
      when I thought I was running correct and had brand news shoes, i often had shin splints.

      This doc was here on YT , so I watched it last night, I appreciate sharing all the info with me. I enjoyed the movie,brought back good memories, VC was part of the Stanford invitational, being there running was surreal,the two teams that won was , first place Arizona State, and 2nd Arkansaw. Thanks Emily for kindly sharing aspects of Your Life.

    I've had my Earth Runners for five years, same pair, and I love them. Earth Runner foot bed lining is canvas, not leather..

    Do you still have these shoes? Curious how long they last? They're so thin

    • @EmilyPorter
      @EmilyPorter  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah, I have them but they have a weakness like flipflops get where the toe thong attachment point starts to rip out of the bottom. So that happened before they wore through the bottoms. I would say they will last around one year with heavy use.

    • @LoveGuruBlaire
      @LoveGuruBlaire 5 лет назад

      @@EmilyPorter Yeah, I was thinking that. That sucks. I wonder, have you tried unshoes? I'm deciding between the two, but leaning more towards these, although I couldn't really say why. Curious on your thoughts if you have any :)

    • @EmilyPorter
      @EmilyPorter  5 лет назад +1

      Haven't tried them. I'm trying a new pair of Earthrunners. I like the aesthetic better and they have some thinner models now. I just hope they are not too wide, since my old pair were custom.
