- Today we are prepping our vintage camper for paint! We also decided to unroll the awning and see what was lying inside..dun dun dunnnnn!

I finally got around to watching this video and some of the comments were so disappointing. I hope you know that the camper is turning out beautifully and it's awesome that you're showing the journey! You're doing what a lot of us dream about and that's so impressive! if the handles and knobs were brass you could boil then in vingear for 3-4 minutes and then lightly scrub with 0000 steal wool. I've done it to my thrift dressers and they look amazing.
My favorite 70s band is Fleetwood Mac! The trailer is coming along nicely. I love seeing all of your updates, they make me so excited to see the finished product!

We have a huge lifted truck it scares me too 🤣 when you said the squiggly line I was like yep 😅👏🏻👏🏻 I had to move it the other day & I has nervous too ! 😆🐝💛
That's so nice that your mother's helping you! My mom wouldn't step into a camper especially if it smelled like the 70's. Allergies and she only went camping 1 time and she said it would be her last time doing so and that was in 1970's . But it looks like fun, great job!
No one naturally knows how to do renovations.. we all learn. Watching and doing it with your dad is how you learn! And one day you'll know how and wish you were still doing it together.

When I was with this one guy, he had a big lifted up truck, the tires were almost as big as me (I’m 5’2). I drove it at least 5x and I barely could see over the steering wheel. One time on a back road that no one drives on, I sat on my leg just so I could see. He would joke with me all the time about possibly getting me a booster seat just so I could drive it 😂

I love your camper videos! My hubby has a salvage yard so ive begged him into letting me keep both a 70s camper and a one of those old vans with curtains and like the back seat turns into a bed... we are remodeling this house we bought a few houses from where we live now so i plan to use a number of your videos as reference... however now i cant wait to get the house move in ready so I can begin on my camper too!! I love yours its adorable

Helpful hint/tip.... Boiling the hardware for around 30 min with white vinegar in the water removes ALL grease and gunk build up. This leads to a lot less elbow grease needed. It works fabulously!

Did you check out Elysia English's channel? Yesterday they took off the cover of their bathroom on the roof and they found moss growing there! Also one of her subscribers told her to boil the knobs in water on the stove. They came out lovely, but she painted them anyway.
I feel like both you and her are working on the same things.

Look into using fabric paint for the awning! Not sure how it would hold up over time but I’ve used it before on an outdoor umbrella and it’s help up pretty well!

Will you paint the inside of cabinets. Where it won’t interfere with sliding in and out. I like to do it to make it more sanitary. I also clean a ton before.

em i took all the old door knob off here in my home/they were older then dirt//lol//i soaked them in two cups of white vinegar and one cup of white table salt 2cups of water//leave over nite and i will tell you its unreal how clean they came out//its on the internet//under//getting copper and brass silver clean//i promise it works//my mom told me they used it when she was a kid in brooklyn.//she is 80 now god bless her//so cheap to do when your trying to save..i wanted to let you know that..

You can also put the awning poles straight up and down out front, you don't have to put it on the camper
Elysia English on RUclips is also renovating her camper and put the door knobs and handles into a pot on the stove on low boil and it removes all the dirt and grime!

Just a heads up you probably wont read this but the primer and paint can be mixed where you purchased it and you should always do that thats why it was thick at the bottom

The awning would go and a new roller style would go in. Lol it's 70s for sure
Another tip use enamel paint that way it wont chip or fade you could use as a top coat
You need to remove the wallpaper on the walls not paint and tile over. When that wallpaper stops sticking all by itself, it will fall off with your tiles.
They use a different type of paper in campers. trust me it’s not coming off! We’ve painted over wallpaper so many times and never had an issue

Have you looked on pinterest for inspo? you could save a lot of space by removing the dinette and just putting a small actual table and chairs to make it look more open.
The dinette is another sleeping area so by removing that we would be losing a spot for guests!
I wonder if you can tint the awning??? Like car leather paint?

I actually drive a bigger truck than my husband 😂. He drives a little ‘97 ford ranger and I drive a lifted Ford Explorer with tires that come up to my hips😂

Our Little Nest it actually took me a while to drive it. I had anxiety and driving was one of my things I couldn’t bring myself to do. But my husband couldn’t take off of work every time I needed to do something and we have two kids so I needed to get over it and drive. So I did. And I’m much happier.

I’m not sure how it would hold up since it’s plastic and gets rolled. But that’s a great idea! I’m going to look into it!
If you put your handles, in boiling water, it gets old greese and grime off.

Most of it is not actual wood, just the cabinet doors!
You said you were going to keep it as original as possible.... not seeing that.
In the last video I said that we had to change plans because there was tons of water damage. Still keeping the original floor but it’s ultimately my camper that I will be traveling and living in. That being said I have to make it look and feel comfortable for me☺️ stay safe!
