this is when British soul started catching up with the level of us R&B in the public eye..but reality is British always had the Black Soul & funk, being that they had heavy Jamaican & African influence and immigration
A+ Carl McIntosh.... jane.... been playing zagora, Mr bachelor, aned look how long since 1986 to this very day...... man I've studied you Carl as a songwriter..... you helped me win an ascap songwriters award with the help of Terry lewis......
Hank Hill MD U.K. ain't no joke... culture club. George, duran duran. simply red Micheal. sting. estle, Adele. Amy Winehouse. sade' . Paul hardcastle. jamiroquia I mean they have some real heavy hitters in the U.K. 🤔😮😎😉🇬🇧
52nd Street was cool, but they werent close to Loose ends level..mabye soul II soul might be the closest thing to them..Loose Ends was dropping hit after hit after hit for a few yrs straight
Anyone else feel like this was music that classy black people were into back in the day. It seems like when I attended clubs and concerts most of the people into this were classy ladies and cats were smooth well dressed brothers. I miss that so much just being around people like that.
Without question Loose Ends was one of the 80's top groups. They were in constant rotation of radio and video shows. They had a unique sound and Carl McIntosh was the driving force behind the groups grooves. Jane Eugene had a rough soulful voice that was easy on uptempo and slower songs by the group. Nichols on keyboard and harmony's added to the groups sound. There were alot of bands out of England but this group was able to really set the standard in the USA. Their sound still rocks to this day!!
This was one of my all time favorite up-tempo songs written by all of them( Carl McIntosh, Jane Eugene and Steve Nichol). However, unfortunately, it never rose up the US Charts at all in 1986.
Waiting for the Unsung Episode. In a crowded field of talented musicians from the 80s Loose Ends was truly unsung. With whats available today, Loose Ends would rule the chart.
Wow! What an incredible song. Brings back memories when we had family gatherings and enjoying sitting around dancing, Laughing. Man,I miss the 80's music and zero stress. 🙂
Sitting in the lab axing it up musically with my best friend mr Tim Shaw mr Timmy jam and I do mean jamm thanks for you this music and our brotherly strength and our heavenly blessed bond I love ya bro
Thank you Duanna Brown for going to the movies with me when you visited Baltimore during summer '91. I wish you could've Stayed A Little While Child but I know you had to go back home in West Virginia. This song reminds me of that summer because it came on the radio that night after I took you home. Hope all is well sweetness!
lightskin boy dear ! Super post you wrote we are a community with the we were sentimental so in love And we got older ...same sensitivity now we are old but still these mémories bring us backp to these unachieved moments. Still Time to seek for this beloved And Tell her how strong were your féelings .hugs to you guys with love from France
709 people are clueless to what great r&b music sounds like.. This ONE song alone got me through 1986, I remember buying the 45 and wearing it out, it was light years sonically from Hanging On A String..
I love Loose Ends they sooo knock and their African American from England and groove just like we do in the USA. No matter what country we are from the rhythm is grooving its natural. And you can't hear their accent when they sing, I love it💕👍🏾
I drove back and forth between LA and SF a lot back when this album dropped and this song got a lot of play. Classic. Music is just not the same anymore.
I have alway loved the way they engineered the lyric " don't leave da da don't don' t leave" to bounce from left to right speaker . I miss that music from the 80s . I have to listen to rap now every time an R&B artist has hit . Anyway I believe the real hip hop do not get the air time they deserve . Now it seems like it's gotta be some silly as hook with computer generated beats , and sampled real bass lines from back in the day
My brother back in the day was playn this music before people actually grabbed hold...I would say why does he listen to that..may he rest n peace ..thanks brother...OMG!!!! he knew it was great like he was... Big Sis
1980s had some of the best R&B songs/music/jams from artists/singers/performers/producers and songwriters who sang, performed, wrote, arranged and produced songs with soul, harmony and meaning! Respect and Salute to "Loose Ends" forever! Thank you God for the 1980s! Even though there was high crime and poverty growing up in Crown heights/Flatbush/Brooklyn as a kid in the 1980s; this kind of music was the escape and sign of the times!
Lockdown has brought me here. Feb 2021 and still enjoying this great jam 34 years on. Was listening to this when I was a teenager and first discovering music....... 34 years later and I now appreciate good music and how amazing Loose Ends are. Thank you for the music & sheer joy
... especially in these times!... this music will take you back to a better time and place! My son loves this kind of music and jazz because I played it all the time when he was little.... of course he still loves the music of his peers, but he is very well rounded when it comes to music and has introduced many of his friends to old school... some like it, some don't!

my thoughts and prayers are with the 491 lost souls who thumbed down this fantastic work of art....
Don't bother, they are toddlers, who were playing with the computer or phone.
this is when British soul started catching up with the level of us R&B in the public eye..but reality is British always had the Black Soul & funk, being that they had heavy Jamaican & African influence and immigration

Summed up perfectly
First UK Band that climbed on top of Billboards Hot Black Singles Charts (as it was called back then) with" Hangin' on a string"
This was one of my all time favorite up-tempo songs written by all of them( Carl McIntosh, Jane Eugene and Steve Nichol). However, unfortunately, it never rose up the US Charts at all in 1986.
