- This is how loggers, wildland firefighters and the Forest Service in the Pacific Northwest lace their boots. I am demonstrating with Hathorn smoke jumper boots.
This is a very quick way to lace up your boots.

Did the wrangler PROHO approve this message 😂
Yes he did lmao
But buckin billy ray didn't lol he uses the real loggers knot 🤣
My mama taught me how to lace my boots like that back in the 70’s cause it’s how she laced her ice skates up in the 60’s.
A lot of professionals use that technique. It doesn’t surprise me that an ice skater would too.
If you wear tall socks and tuck them down over your knot they will never come untied, guaranteed!
Great tip. It can also help keep your socks from falling down.
Both good tips. I figured this out in a hot summer day like 15 years ago been doing it ever since. Can’t get it to work on cowboy boots thou 🤔
@@dustincombs7127😂
@@WilsonForestLandsi had that sock problem but with arch inserts never happens anymore. But I wear readwings not whites.
If you wear roughly the same thickness of socks everyday you tie a permanent not and then don’t have to tie them every time just lace it up
From Florida been lacing my boots like that since middle school, quick and easy
Been lacing my boots this way for 35 years, learned this in high-school. I live in Southern Ohio.
Seriously WOW❗ why have I not been shown this sooner? I love this
Apparently you haven’t been hanging out with the right crowd Karissa.
I worked heavy construction and coal mining and have done that since before I got out of high school.
Sounds like we learned to do it at about the same age.
I like longer laces so I can wrap around the ankle twice with an over under in back to pull tight, box and bow. Embers in the boot don’t feel to good.
I’ve literally never laced my boots like that for fire, I either did 213 or just took my time to make sure they’re tight and then wrapped my laces around at the top and tied a square knot
That's the best way to lace up 16" high climbers.
Yep! I learned that in the 1st grade! Thanks for the refresher!
It is good to clean and condition your boots for longer life.
It is. I started neglecting these ones when they started getting holes in them.
Iit’s the end of their life and not worth the bother now.
@@WilsonForestLands Makes sense. Best regards.
good to know info, thanks
I learned that from Nancy Kerrigan.
I where rubber boots
Learned very quickly they fill with wood chips and dust if youre pants legs are tucked in
Its bad lol
Yep I learned that very quickly too. Or if you have a hole in your pant legs, that can funnel it into your boots too.
Learned this from my grandma because that’s how she laced her skates as a kid in Iowa.
nice! what kind of boots are those? thanks
Timbertown USA baby
Can’t wait until this turns into a ProHo channel
I'm 66 and figured how to do that when I was twelve on a pair of Vibram soled hikers, keeping the laces permanently knotted. Had gotten the boots in Colorado and carried them along as we moved to Virginia, wearing them incessantly. Actually repaired parts of the worn soles with tire rubber, glue and screws until I had a growth surge rendering them, sadly, unwearable. I was a clever kid but outgrew that also.
Wow😮
Now that’s a quick way of doing it… how do you spell coordination ?? Ok I’m out !!😂 excellent tip
Thanks for sharing..
I think you spelll it kewordunashun. OK apparently I don’t have it either, instead just a lot of practice since I was a kid and saw my Dad doing it.
That was pretty fast I've never not tucked him into the inside of the boot I learned as a kid I think my dad wanted me some I don't know Nice looking boots be safe out there Happy cutting
been wearing boots every day my whole life and never knew about this....thanks for taking the time and sharing
Wranglerstar PROHO taught me this a few years back.
Didn't know you knew how to tie your shoes. Good job Michael.
Thanks Dave, I can do it now all by myself.
Thank for sharing that, Sir!
Construction workers, iron workers do that too.
Thats ultra cool for sure !
We'd lace our combat boots that way in basic. Then in the war, tightening them juust right gave more confidence. It made the feet a bit more stable. Sometimes the small stuff matters.
Put the laces through the top grommet, it’s easier on them
👂🥇 thank you for sharing, we have a hack that we want to share with you and the family that watches. Take two pairs of socks one inside out put it on first the next sock on top of that one get comfortable, and do your shoelaces and put your boots on you do not believe how comfortable that is thought the day 🥴👍 we go by you hear 👂 it here first 🥇
And if your feet are cold with 2 pair of socks, remove one pair and you might be surprised. They've got to be a bit lose, it's the air between the threads that's insulating.
I have whites boots put a big top eye on my boots and use a logger knot
That’s how we do it on the west
Been lacing my boots up like that for 50 years, in Upstate NY. It isn't a west coast thing, though ya'll think ya got the patent on everything
In my years, I've found every part of the country feels they're best at things, and every region or state feels their weather changes more abruptly than a different place. We're all correct in ways and incorrect in others.
East vs West: from sports, to hip hop, to lacing up boots, it's a rivalry.
The West is best.
Every morning
How cool is that, thank for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Nope here that double knot just makes it harder to take off after work i never had mine loosen up. I lace it up the same though.
They learned it from Linemen.
Where'd you get that jacket 😮
Not just the Loggers and Wild Land Fire Fighters of the Pacific Northwest....loggers and Smoke Jumpers, Wild Land firefighters we all lace up our boots that way!
This is also the way many other crafts including railroad and military lace their boots.
What brand of boot do you use
What model carhartt is that brother?
Don’t forget , lineman too
Yeah a few other commenters reminded me of the lineman. A shout out to all the lineman out there keeping our power flowing.
Don't steal his thunder... Act accordingly.
Big top eye and a loggers knot. I never cared for the arch in whites hawthorns I like the whites 4811 Arch-Ease fit much better.
I am learning about the whites hawthorn hard way. I just bought a new pair a few months ago and the sole is falling off.
You need some gap in laces?
Not one lace over the other? If you do it that way and a lace gets cut the other lace will not hold it in place it will completely come undone.
Let’s go champ!
Nah. Gotta go with the 2 1 3 lacing method. Game changer.
and finnish defenceforces
Works if your ankles and calfs are twigs... rest of us need to tighten them.
Or could we stay at the other way? People who are fat can’t do this, the rest of us can.
I can get em piss tight this way, you just can't have weak little hands
Wesco boots?
You forgot one step. Once you got through lacing and tying you're supposed to take the laces and stick them in the boot so branches don't trip you up
Que marca son????
Loggers aren't the only ones that lace their boots like that.
What boots do you recommend for logging??
I am still trying to find a boot that I really like. I used to use Carolina, they were inexpensive comfortable and lasted a decent amount of time. I quit wearing those after the quality seemed to deteriorate. Then I went to Hathorn (smoke jumpers I think). They were decent. So far I like the lower end Whites boots I just bought. I have typically bought the cheaper boots because they are lighter weight and not as hot as the more expensive better built boots. The cheaper boots are starting to wear out too fast now. If these whites don’t last a decent amount of time, I may have to try the more expensive JK or Nicks.
Wow! Just like everyone else who wears boots.
Minus a lot of people who don’t know about doing it that way. As indicated by the majority of the comments.
When I stare at PNW logging boots it makes my beard hairs grow
😂
Where is that Jacket from?
If you search for Carhartt J284 you should be able to find it.
Talk about bunyonssss
I thought it was from the soldiers in military. Quick on .
Yeah but i only care how the u.s forest service does it. Hi from a wanglerstar fan.
You are in luck, a lot of people in the Forest Service do this too. I learned it from my dad who probably learned it from his early days in the Forest Service.
Logger knot
I wear loafers
What brand are those boots?
Hathorn, which are part of Whites. Those in the video were old and wore out. I replaced them with some Whites that are exactly like them.
How long does the average pair last and cost?
I am very hard on boots so I only get about a year out of them if I am lucky. These ones were a little over $300 when I bought them about a year ago. I am sure they are more now. They are Hathorn Smoke Jumpers if I remember the name right.
I believe they are now Hathorn Line Scouts as the Hathorn Smoke Jumpers have limited sizes left. The line scouts are 350-390$ vs the White’s Smokejumpers 670$. Both are made by White’s Boots. If they are not rebuildable but resoleable they are Line Scouts as they are Goodyear Welted.
This is how I don't really give a F
I’ve never seen eyelets and speed hooks so close to touching like that. Boots and uppers are way too wide.
The problem is my leg is too narrow for those boots.
@@WilsonForestLands yeah. lol. I get mine from Nicks or Whites and have to get the uppers custom made more narrow.
Bro you need to rebuild and the uppers are not suppose to be touching like that
His boot doesn't fit, though...
Tell us about that cut on your boot.
The stitching is coming apart. They are very old and it’s time for new boots.
Tuck those laces in soldier
I watched it 8 times in slow motion.
I still cant grasp it. 🙄
Nope cause I wear lowas now
Once i discovered the ease of boots with closed eyelets i never went back to this slow a$$ shid
Not use the loggers knot. Would not be bucking approved 😅
Hell ya
There is more than one way...
Of course there is.
this dude is the better wranglerstar
Why is everything called a hack?
But you don’t untie the knot. Always keep it tied when putting them on or off. Is how a working man ties his boots.
I like to start out the day with a fresh tight knot.
They look too big.
I can still do it way faster with 2 hands, sorry
Welp, you had it right up until the point you tied that archaic knot.
Time for some jk’s
Definitely time for new boots. I replaced them with Whites again but I keep hearing about JK. Thinking about giving them a try
@@WilsonForestLands copy that, the JK's are on a different level of quality.
Those boots are ill fitting they should never be touching like that
Please dont start wearing a goofy red pimp hat
😂
Time is money. That must save 2-3 seconds per boot. Extrapolate that out over a lifetime of working and you save an incredibly small amount of money.
Aren't you special!!
No just doing what the rest of them do.
I feel dirty watching anyone else talk about the us forest service but wranglestar 😂
It’s ok, a lot of people are doing it. I won’t tell anybody. 😂
@@WilsonForestLands 😂😂😂
Getting your dollars worth out of them boots
Yep it’s time to replace them.
No Velcro?
No, I haven’t been able to find Velcro in these kind of boots. That would make it even easier.
Weak
Ain't that special.wgf
They do it everywhere just not in a great Northwest
Monkey see monkey do…wrangler star.
