Thanks, Terry! You are continuing to provide proof that people migrated west along similar lines of latitude; the line expands southwestward to include Texas.
Once again, I enjoyed this very much..The Turners in our community were mostly professional people, my sister married James Turner who was an engineer. Another name that I have ties to is Davidson.. MY 4th GGF married Elizabeth Davidson. P
The one name that stood out for me this time was Turner made me think of a former Canadian primister called John Turner the 17 one. On my ipad I have over 3,000 songs in many genre and Garth Brooks does make the list. Enjoyed the show thanks much
most of these people could not read and write, so the names were written down by outsiders who went names they knew and how they sounded when said by the person speaking. so some of the same families end up with different names based on personal pronunciation. Bryant, Briant, Brant and so on
Thank you for your wonderful cultural channel dr Barry. I looked up for meaning and origin of surnames you mentioned briefly here it’s turner is boys given name and English and old French origin. Deriving from the old French thornier, meaning “ lathe” , it arrived to England from Normandy, France as an occupational surname for a woodworker. It’s currently time 25 th most common in the uk .Davison is a patronymic surname, a contraction of David son , meaning “ son of Davie ( the pet form David ) “ . There are alternate spellings , including those common in the British isles and Scandinavia : Davisson , daveson, davidsen. Stidham is Americanized form , via stedham, of an unidentified Scandinavian or perhaps Dutch surname record in d E in the 17 th century as tiddem. Brooks is a gender - netural name with German and English origin . This name translates to “ water “ or “ small stream “ . Lacey is a gender - neutral name of old French and Latin origin meaning “ cheerful “ . It was originally the surname of French nobleman the de lasi , from Normandy region . This historical name reached the shores of England and Ireland during Norman conquest. I hope you like my research. Good luck to you your family friends.
@BarryVann my mother was Sheila Faye Kendrick Gregory, and her father was William Bill Kendrick and his father was Alonzo Clyde Kendrick, his father was William Alonzo Kendrick. That's as far I got with the Kendrick line. My grandmother's sister on my mother's side married Elmer Lee Johnson Jr. and his father was David M. Johnson.
I have not heard you talk about any surnames in my family tree. Gaskin, Gill, Padgett, and Overstreet. Mom's dad Hutto. My dad's Raymond from Ireland, Smith, Bell,Ward, and Lee. My brother did DNA. I told my niece and sister it would come back as English and Irish. Guess what I was right. But, my niece had hers done and names came up I had never heard of. We are still trying to figure that out.

@@BarryVann I'm on a reduced clotting factor for AFIB and Condestive Heart Failure but no rat poison. Welcome to the club, Neighbor. I thought I was having panic attacks every 20 to 30 minutes because my blood sugar was off. Sugar was spot on so off we went to the V A at Oteen/Asheville. Stayed there one day over a week to get slowed down. My heart is between 20 and 25% doing it's job according to an echocardiogram. That's why I snap beans and mow grass. And stay HOME! Calm is GOOD! Blessings!
@lewiemcneely9143 I hope your reaction to those medicines is good. I have afib, too, and take a similar medicine for it. It's a generic form of Plavix.

Do you have any idea about the Stump last name i read one time in 1640 Stumps came in to VA
James, of the 1700 requests that I have received, no one has asked for Stump. I have added it, but there are a lot of families in front of it. Barry
