One more point. Mike partied like a rock star in his Screaming Cheetah Wheelies days and I believe he made the decision to sober up and that’s when he went solo and started singing gospel music. His first solo effort, called Salvation in Lights, is chock full of awesome gospel tunes that still show off his classic bluesy voice and his range. One of my personal favorites is “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.”
I've partied with him on their tour bus. I'm proud of him for giving up the opioids and for quitting smoking! His voice is so much better now! Saw SCW in Nashville on 7-15-22. They are still tight! They have 2 shows coming up this year.
Previous to singing gospel blues Mike Farris was the lead singer of a Southern Blues Rock band called Screaming Cheetah Wheelies. He has always had an awesome voice. You should check out not only more of his solo efforts but also the Wheelies for some great rock n roll. I have always been a huge fan.
WOW, WOW, WOW! Just wow! I am so glad I took a chance to listen to someone new to me! He blessed me with his voice! I am going to have to look into Mike Ferris! This was great!
Mike, his songs, his voice spoke to me and kept me out of grave. I am indebted to him in which I could never repay. I liked his voice when I heard him in the early 90s. lost track of him until I was searching for something to touch my soul
I went to school with this guy. He has been there and (like me) has needed and received mercy. He is a grammy winner. He has one of those voices that gives you chills.
Known him for 28 years now. Saw him in Nashville on 7-15-22 with his band the Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies. You really need to hear them! Majestic, Backwoods Traveling, Moses Brown, well, all of their songs are absolutely amazing!!!
Y'all should definitely check out the Screaming Cheetah Wheelies. Their first record is phenomenal. Every song could easily be someone's favorite. "Shakin' the blues", "ride the tide", " let it flow", and majestic" are just a few off that record. The music is fire and Mike's vocals are incredible. Saw them open for the Allman brothers band in '93. Great show
I love Majestic. I used to hang out with SCW after shows on their tour bus. Their roadie was Todd Givens, rip buddy! I helped him fix Steve's amp one night so he took me on the tour bus. Saw SCW in Nashville on 7-15-22. They are still tight! I saw Bobby and said "Mr. Watkins", he said "Mr. Sugg". Cool that he remembered me!
THANK YOU THANK YOU for introducing this to me, I’ve never heard this guy, whoever suggested it THANK YOU THANK YOU, I’ve been on Spotify saving every album he’s got lol
I've known Mike a long time. (Since '93?) Dang I'm getting old! Mike's background is old school soul, R&B and gospel. Mavis Staples is a huge influence on him. The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies brought his soulful vocal style together with rock, blues and southern rock. They also brought together thousands of diehard fans, known as The Wheelie Faithful. Mike is a Grammy winner, but he is so cool and approachable, that you can't help but to love him. The band I sang for was scheduled to open for SCW, but due to some extenuating circumstances, they had to cancel at the last minute. Just before showtime, the management told us they ain't coming and we would have to cover the entire show. Needless to say, The Faithful were all there, and although they were disappointed by the cancelation, we played every SCW song that we knew, mixed with our stuff and all had a great time. Matter of fact, the club owner called Mike up so he could listen to us playing their songs. (I think it was during This Is The Time) I saw him at the back bar, holding up a cordless phone, but didn't know who was on the other end. Yall are right, Mike's voice got much better after he got clean. I'm proud to say that his path and mine have crossed many times.
I was there that night and it was ALWAYS amazing when he sang! That's the McCrary Sisters signing with them and they bring the church everywhere they go! Definitely check out Mike's "Salvation in Lights" album!
I hope this inspires you to listen to Mary Gauthier. She wrote it and it has more verses than this version. I’m disappointed that he left them out but he does have a fine voice and obviously loves Mary.
Look up Mike's Can't No Grave and really everything he has. So much spirit. He used to do the Sunday Night Shout At the Station Inn In Downtown Nashville, which was basically CHURCH.
Yes it was! Small venue, but huge show. I caught one of these shows. My wife and I were literally 5 ft. from center stage. They played like the house was on fire!
PLEASE check out his version of Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind" with Reese Wynans from Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble on organ, and the amazing McCrary Sisters (who are also in THIS video) on backing vocals! ruclips.net/video/l7VuAa5WoV0/видео.html

I would love to see them. Always liked that band!

I was a fan of the Screaming Cheetah Wheelies and have followed his career, his brush with alcohol, drugs and death to his accepting Christ.
WOW, WOW, WOW! Just wow! I am so glad I took a chance to listen to someone new to me! He blessed me with his voice! I am going to have to look into Mike Ferris! This was great!

Mike Farris is the most incredibly underrated male vocalist you've never heard of...He also does an awesome cover of Prince's "Purple Rain".

They should also check out the Magnolia album of SCW, it has the amazing Warren Haynes on guitar for all the studio tracks.
McCrary Sisters are amazing, too, as his back up singers.
THANK YOU THANK YOU for introducing this to me, I’ve never heard this guy, whoever suggested it THANK YOU THANK YOU, I’ve been on Spotify saving every album he’s got lol
Love love love his voice. ❤❤❤

Man, that is why live performances are always so much better, you just don't know. Never heard of him either, but just loved every second of this.
I'm driving 7 hours next week to be with Mike at his Soul of Christmas performance at Country Music Hall of Fame
I was there that night and it was ALWAYS amazing when he sang! That's the McCrary Sisters signing with them and they bring the church everywhere they go! Definitely check out Mike's "Salvation in Lights" album!
Lol, exactly what I was thinking, Take Me To Church, this guy's got some soul. Thanks Asia and BJ.
That is, without a doubt, rainy Sunday morning music. Good for the soul.
Music Fog has Mike Farris singing solo "Oh, Mary Don't You Weep", you gotta listen to that one.
The woman in the background singing at the end of the song differently has the Spirit and the love of God in her😢 loved it!!!!!!
I have known this man and listened too his music since 2006. He is the real deal. His love of the Lord blesses us all
Yeah, shout out to dude, who requested this. I was unfamiliar, good looking out.
I love it! It's new to me, but I'm always open to new things. Beautiful song!

Only one, about the church
my fave. WE see him at least once a year here in Nashville. He plays all over all year. So so good.
Look up Mike's Can't No Grave and really everything he has. So much spirit. He used to do the Sunday Night Shout At the Station Inn In Downtown Nashville, which was basically CHURCH.

Great song, great voice. Reminds me of Arms of a Woman by Amos Lee.
