Nice. This album came out when I was in first year of high school. Lots of VH fans were not happy with the 'new sound'. I'd loved everything VH had put out but I absolutely loved this 'new' VH. I literally ran that tape out and had to buy another. This whole album is gold. True VH fans know how to appreciate both DLR and Sammy iterations... To this day, OU812 is my second favourite VH album, after Fair Warning. Both very similar in gritty feel.
Some fun lore about this song is when David Lee Roth was the lead singer he had a strict “no love song/no ballads” rule for the band. I think it was an image thing, but regardless, when the band booted him out and replaced him with (already very famous) Sammy Hagar he decided to make a “love song” their first single, as a little thumb to the nose at David. 😂❤
When it first came out it was very hard to to get used being a die hard Vh fan seeing the original line up in concert 2 times but it finally grows on you
The first time I heard this I hated this. Didn't like it at all. It was too different from the Van Halen i already knew with David Lee Roth. It just sounded so different and weird at that time. Fast forward to years later and up till now it sounds so much better than it used to. It's still different from the Roth Van Halen, but it's still great in its own unique way. Hagar is a great vocalist.

This was a great album. This song was a good starter for the album but I reckon Dreams is even better, and I LOVE Love Walks In, GREAT ballad.

5150 is my favorite VH album. Reminds me of my freshman year in HS. 1984 is my number 2.
i always preferred Sammy with them over David, but i like them both. this is one of my fav van halen songs.
Hated it when it came out (being a David Lee Roth guy, but i loved Sammie as well) Eventually grew to like it
