People who hate the Speedoru animation would never last a second in 2009 Ace Attorney Newgrounds parody’s or Phoenix Wrong videos. Having AA characters go off character for parody is not a new thing, but a lot of AA fans are acting like it is.

If we're going to complain about lore, what they should be complaining about is the fact that:
1. There's a jury - which isn't present for the majority of AA games, the judge just hands the verdict down.
2. Wright and Edgeworth do swap careers here, but they actually technically always do that for the 2nd half of a trial. Plus, Edgeworth has acted in Wright's stead as a defense attorney at least once or twice (this may be anime exclusive, but it's still AA so I rest my case, pun not intended)
3. No gumshoe OR butz in general, which is just a crime in and of itself

You know the funniest part about this is? People say AA fans are angry about the animation, but honestly I didn’t even realize this “drama” was happening until I went on Twitter. In actuality, not that many fans on other platforms like Tumblr, Instagram, etc care as much as TWITTER. This includes anti-fans as well. And I think that’s whats funny. Literally no other platform cares as much as that site.

People are pissed over the idea of Edgeworth being gay and Wright being a prosecutor, but no one acknowledged the fact that Speedoru completely missed the running joke of puns being in character's names, so he claimed that Geiru Toneido is just the Japanese pronounciation and that Gale Tornado is the right name. I feel like that's a bit more problematic than Clussy.

The animation just randomly popped into my recommended one day before it blew up. I got a good chuckle out of it, thought it was kinda weird in a funny way that Phoenix and Edgeworth swapped places and then waved it off because it’s parody. I did not expect things to spiral so hard, but then again this was mostly caused by Twitter, so I can’t say I’m too surprised.
It’s always Twitter bruh. I didn’t even realize there was drama surrounding the animations until literally like a week later when someone on Tumblr vague posted about it. Literally the only people who care are on Twitter.
I actually consider the "prosecutor Wright" not bad at all, it might be just my point of view, but in almost every case in AA, Phoenix goes from "i am gonna show why my client is innocent" to "i will show why this witness is guilty".
At this point, i see Phoenix as a bigger prosecutor than Edgeworth, i am 50% convinced that Wright has sent more criminals to prison than Miles, like seriously, i am not sure if even the game knows the difference between a prosecutor and a defense.

To be fair, most of the time he has to prove who the actual guilty person is so that his client isn't just sent to jail anyway. The judge says something like that at one point, I think in the Maggie Byrd case with her bf in the park, but that may be from the anime.

I noticed that practically everything in the animation is the opposite of how AA usually is. Phoenix and Edgeworth swapped professions, the defendant was found guilty and the witness wasn't the true culprit, the judge was actually competent and wasn't having anyone's shit, no actual evidence was presented and it was all conjecture, there is an actual jury, Phoenix STUPID, the list goes on the longer you study the animation.
There's lots of meta humor as well, the whole "clussy" scene is one giant reference to the Edgeworth "you are not a clown, you are the entire circus" reaction image, which is a parody of a parody. Also, Phoenix being gay and Edgeworth being straight was poking fun at the fandom's insistence that Edgeworth is gay.
It's pretty incredible how faithful the animation is in getting things "wrong." That's how you know it was made by a true fan.

I watched the original animation about an hour after it went up, and thought it was pretty par for the course for what speedoru puts out (i.e immature and silly).
I never would have predicted that it would blow up like it did, and certainly not that people would take this shit seriously.
Coincidentally, I had just finished replaying Turnabout Storyteller beforehand and honestly, Geiru is pretty forgettable. Not so much now due to recent memes, but before, I couldn't even place who she was until I got to her appearance in court, whereas I at least had a vague recollection of Uendo Toneido (much more interesting character, btw) and even Bucky.

I watched the Speedoru animation for shits and giggles when it popped up on my feed, since I’d been hearing people talk about it so much. I don’t know anything about Ace Attorney but I thought it was really funny. I just had a laugh and then clicked off and went on with the rest of my day. I never expected that this whole fight would suddenly break out over a short silly video.
I find it hilarious that they forget that in spirit of justice, phoenix acts as a prosecutor for one case.

I am profoundly convinced that this animation was made with the purpose of being as inaccurate as possible to see how much that can fuck with the fans, I'm sure of it, but yeah the animation was a big meh for me, but at least it permitted the creation of better animations (do objection.lol count as animation?) in the process

People nowadays don’t seem to understand what “opinions” or “different senses of humor” mean. Most of the people agree with one single thing and force it to the people who don’t. Personally, I’m totally cool with it and I think it’s very funny. Other people might not be the same and that’s okay. As long as we’re not forcing it on anybody, everything’s fine. I think we should learn how to accept and respect other’s opinions because trying to change it doesn’t help at all. It will just make situations worse and the victim might possibly take their own lives due to the build up of stress from the loads of hatred and anger. Ok but for real, the Speedoru animation is just a parody. Kind of like a what if series in a sense. Basically, it’s Ace Attorney but if everything was the opposite of how it really is.
