My husband was stationed at Ft Rucker after coming back from Vietnam. We lived in Enterprise, AL for eighteen months and headed back to Washington State in September 1971. Went to Panama City many times.

Summer of 1970 I was in the Army going through school at Ft. Rucker Alabama, exactly 2 hours north on Hwy 231 on the other side of Dothan. Myself and four other guys all went through basic together and now air traffic control school. We got off on Friday afternoons and went to PC every weekend for about four months. Just when you get on the main drag there were cottages on the right side called Long Beach. We rented one for $15 a day, only $3 a piece and walked across the street and there a dance party outdoor kind of club. I was only 20, so legally we couldn't drink, but nobody cared. The whole place was maybe 15 or 20 blocks. One Saturday it was pouring rain and I had saw the movie with Burt Lancaster, The Swimmer. Another guy and me started at one end and swan through every pool of the motels until we reached the end, about a dozen motels, that's all there was at time. I moved to Pensacola in the late 70s and went back a few times, couldn't believe how much it had grown about 8 to 10 years.

Born in the 80s but I remember growing up going to PC and many of these old motels still being there..it seems so quaint now and I miss the hell out of that PC instead of the high rise condo dominated abomination it has become. I haven't been in years instead now I go to a beach near my brother's in gulf breeze that hasn't been overrun with tourists...yet.

Great memories at PCB. I likely rode in that exact helicopter during the same year of this video. It’s changed so much there now. Kinda sad.
Used to swap addresses with other kids I’d meet from other states and become “pen pals”

Hello Jim, I used to work with you in Birmingham at Ch 13/WVTM. I was an editor in news. 1979-80. Wendel Harris was our news director. You headed to Nashville to WSM-TV (I think) and I went up there shortly afterwards, but to WNGE/Ch 2. I was only there a short while and moved on out to L.A. and eventually became a staff editor for NBC. Glad to see you're still around.

That film is not of 1972, when they show the lady in the yellow jumpsuit she clearly walks by a white Mustang 2 they only started making in 1974.
