How about that-an award for folk musicians. In our country, the USA we honor country music, pop music, jazz (a little), blues (a little more) and who sells the most records (CD's downloads, etc) but for the amazing folk musicians we have-nada, nil, nothing. Folk musicians are not given the respect they deserve unless they fit into one of the other categories. Martin Carthy is a true treasure and it's wonderful to see him honored for all he has given his audiences in his professional life. Carry on, Martin!
Amazing. Thursday before last, Martin was playing a small gig in the Cardigan Cellar Bar perhaps 60 people - a week later he is deservedly being given a lifetime achievement award in the Albert Hall before thousands.
What a guy. Great musical memories...and then there was the time he autographed a Swansea v Hull football programme and forged the "autographs" of the Hull players foe me. Because he's not just a great and influential musician, he's also a nice, funny man. Thank you Martin!!
Fitst saw mariniin196?at Free hall in Manchester loved him ever since he stayed at my brothers since im 75 now and been able to see him here in the New forest and he's such a lovely man,

you'd think he would check to see if he's still in tune at some point during all that ...
