I’ve been playing Roblox for the past 7 years, and I still remember the days where eggplants were just vegetables, slenders were just really tall people, avatars with cat ears weren’t considered furries, the Roblox oof sound, and tix.
I miss the days when /e dance was like a virus with about 10 other players started dancing as well. I miss when /me existed, I miss when roblox did good events, the most recent example which I will give credit to them is the 2024 egg hunt. I miss when. Flamingo made admin vids and funny vids with his old pals because roblox just had better kinder people on it. I miss the days when after a long day at school I could wind down witha new tycoon, Godzilla simulator and maybe an hobby or two. Its sad, but in the end it has to be this way I suppose. I miss the days when games weren’t practical rip-offs. When they were their own thing rather than some random knockoff. I miss the days ROBLOX had their old red logo. I miss the days when the ID copyright law did not exist and you could go wild with the music that would give games the best kind of feel.
This isnt just about them banning old games - this is about them fostering bad ones. Every old game that dies that had good gameplay is being replaced with a cashgrab simulator variant designed with the express purpose of swindling as much money away from children as possible.

@@Moonlight-sunset Robux costs real money to obtain. Back then, you were able to earn Robux for free via the usage of Tix. Now that said currency is gone, the only way to obtain Robux now is via a microtransaction. You need to take the time to do research before commenting.

This also depends on the community, like the way they dress or the toxicity. Look at those slenders and semi-naked avatars, the developers are somehow trying to promote this and change what used to be a Lego based game, to an online dating platform where there are multiple risks.

As an og player of roblox that started around 2014 I am very disappointed on what this game has turned into. I still play it but it’s not as fun as it used to be. Like seeing these avatars like slenders and copy and pastes. Roblox deleted the old sound and added rthro which are things no one in the community wants. Roblox sometimes even lets inappropriate things like games and items get away. I once got banned for the most random reason that is not even bad which proves moderation has been horrible. I hope in the future this game is fun how it used to be

im not a nostalgia addict, but i agree. there is not much color and there is copy and paste games more than ever. back then, the closest inconveniences you would get were hackers and scammers in my experience. On the front page, you could at least see new interesting games at different times and try them out. But from what i see now, you see the same popular games that probably been there for god knows how long and you actually have to go out of your way to find new interesting ones.
Started around 2008-2009 and created my first account in 2011, back when my brother had a PC, shit was slow as hell, could take minutes to load really basic stuff. I remember playing HL2, L4D and Minecraft Beta. Started to play ROBLOX due to some friends of mine that used say that it was a better version of Minecraft. Kind of like didn't believe them until I tried it. Used my brother PC and played as a Guest. I could last hours from evening to the next morning and it was great! I remember playing the ROBLOX iOS apps that were basically Natural Disaster Survival and Space Knights. It's really cool to see how far ROBLOX has evolved. Not even mad, it's just, impressive. There are stuff that I don't like, but still, it is still incredible to see how ROBLOX changed these days.

As a 2012 Roblox player who played for 10 years I can say that I am disappointed that of all the time I played it's been in a downward spiral since 2016 because Roblox has lost touch with what it was meant to be. An escape from reality not a reminder of it. It's sad for a game called "Roblox" you rarely see games made with of blocks even get promoted anymore.
Roblox has even stopped doing egg hunts. Last event I can remember is metaverse heroes, and then the event tab has just been “OH SPOTIFY MADE A GAME COME PLAY IT PLEASE SPOTIFY PAYED US A LOTTA MONEY TO SHOW THIS HERE”. I still play Roblox. But I’m not going to buy robux, because i don’t support their current decisions. Roblox needs to learn, stopping others from calling your platform a garbage fire doesn’t stop the garbage fire, it’s like putting a blanket over that fire. They need to extinguish that fire with money being put into moderation, events, and overall, just put some money into the better of the players. If they can start actually helping the players, I might start considering buying robux. Also this feels like EVERY company is doing stupid stuff. Discord has the dumb username change, Reddit basically killed 3rd party apps, Twitter made Twitter blue and litteraly removed check marks, and Roblox is beginning to change almost everything that made Roblox, Roblox.

thats not mentioning how bad the old roblox community is today. they seriously can't spend a second without hating on slenders for... im guessing being toxic even though that's a stupid stereotype based on a couple of youtube videos which showed slenders being toxic. that stereotype, in fact, fits more bacons than slenders, i'd go as far to say that bacon is the style that deserves the name "copy and paste" because they are everywhere and all look the same, not to mention that some of them (not all of them, i don't wanna generalize them) can't look at a slender without going absolutely insane.
Vulpe is completely right about the community aspect of this, but now let’s talk about the games. Because if you’re gonna sit here and tell me that Adopt Me and MM2 are better than Jailbreak and NDS then you are terribly mistaken. The old games are always a lot more fun, with a normally simple objective, and almost no pay-to-win stuff from what I know. It was also a lot easier to make friends in these games, especially games that involve teamwork, for obvious reasons. That is exactly how I met a few of my best friends today. And collectively, the community today really isn’t all that better than it was back in old Roblox.

As a person who started roblox in 2015, it’s sad to see that roblox only cares about Rhtro, Sponsors, 17+ games, changing games to “Experiences”, changing the logo to a less colorful and expressive one, changing the oof sound, making animated faces and layered clothing as a normal setting and making the clothes normal roblox players wear by the name of “classic shirts” and “classic pants”, etc. it’s sad to see such a great platform transform into a bad downfall.

I remember playing the ROBLOX iOS apps that were basically Natural Disaster Survival and Space Knights. It's really cool to see how far ROBLOX has evolved. Not even mad, it's just, impressive. There are stuff that I don't like, but still, it is still incredible to see how ROBLOX changed these days.

As a 2012 Roblox player who played for 10 years I can say that I am disappointed that of all the time I played it's been in a downward spiral since 2016 because Roblox has lost touch with what it was meant to be. An escape from reality not a reminder of it. It's sad for a game called "Roblox" you rarely see games made with of blocks even get promoted anymore.

Roblox has even stopped doing egg hunts. Last event I can remember is metaverse heroes, and then the event tab has just been “OH SPOTIFY MADE A GAME COME PLAY IT PLEASE SPOTIFY PAYED US A LOTTA MONEY TO SHOW THIS HERE”. I still play Roblox. But I’m not going to buy robux, because i don’t support their current decisions. Roblox needs to learn, stopping others from calling your platform a garbage fire doesn’t stop the garbage fire, it’s like putting a blanket over that fire. They need to extinguish that fire with money being put into moderation, events, and overall, just put some money into the better of the players. If they can start actually helping the players, I might start considering buying robux. Also this feels like EVERY company is doing stupid stuff. Discord has the dumb username change, Reddit basically killed 3rd party apps, Twitter made Twitter blue and litteraly removed check marks, and Roblox is beginning to change almost everything that made Roblox, Roblox.

the issue is, roblox is a company, a company of people that needs to be paid, so they wont stop what they are doing, they will keep doing things to get money, so the workers can eat, although forgetting the roots is kinda sad, roblox been around for longer than 70% of roblox community, so its really difficult to blame them

old roblox: a glitchy, laggy, poorly optimized, ugly looking mess that was full of stolen assets, had an unfunny community, had good events which didn't feel as good because of the engine, the same avatar over and over again (the classic blocky avatar), boring games (some of which were boring because of the engine such as the brickbattle games which today are my favorite games on the platform but back then absolutely sucked), had guests (i shouldn't have to tell why they're bad, any old roblox player knows how much of a pain they were), had tix (same thing), was absolute hell for programmers and builders, had a miniscule community composed almost exclusively of english speaking people etc.
thats not mentioning how bad the old roblox community is today. they seriously can't spend a second without hating on slenders for... im guessing being toxic even though that's a stupid stereotype based on a couple of youtube videos which showed slenders being toxic. that stereotype, in fact, fits more bacons than slenders, i'd go as far to say that bacon is the style that deserves the name "copy and paste" because they are everywhere and all look the same, not to mention that some of them (not all of them, i don't wanna generalize them) can't look at a slender without going absolutely insane.

Vulpe is completely right about the community aspect of this, but now let’s talk about the games. Because if you’re gonna sit here and tell me that Adopt Me and MM2 are better than Jailbreak and NDS then you are terribly mistaken. The old games are always a lot more fun, with a normally simple objective, and almost no pay-to-win stuff from what I know. It was also a lot easier to make friends in these games, especially games that involve teamwork, for obvious reasons. That is exactly how I met a few of my best friends today. And collectively, the community today really isn’t all that better than it was back in old Roblox.

As a person who started roblox in 2015, it’s sad to see that roblox only cares about Rhtro, Sponsors, 17+ games, changing games to “Experiences”, changing the logo to a less colorful and expressive one, changing the oof sound, making animated faces and layered clothing as a normal setting and making the clothes normal roblox players wear by the name of “classic shirts” and “classic pants”, etc. it’s sad to see such a great platform transform into a bad downfall.
I know Roblox is changing a lot, but they hold the name Ro”blox” so I have faith that they can’t leave behind the classic games that used studs from the baseplate instead of hyper realistic grass
