Make sure to check the fabric content!! If it’s cotton or any natural fiber it dyes well with the regular rit dye but if it’s any of synthetic it needs to be done with the synthetic dye- I had the same problem and it was why it wouldn’t dye some of my clothes the same/ as well as others! Hope that helps
Black takes SO MUCH dye to achieve. I dye yarn and fabric, and black is tricky. I'm so sorry it didn't work out like you wanted. Dyeing them again should really help though! The packaging of the dye should let you know how much dye to use. I'm excited to see you try again! 💜
Personally I find, hot water from the tap is not sufficient so boil required amount first on stove top then transfer to dye container and add - dye/salt/dishwashing detergent to it .... then the wet garments that are to be dyed. (For amount of water - I have an old large SS pot that I use which I have marked on its outside the water line in amount of cups then transfer it to my kitchen Stainless Steel sink that I use as my dye container.) *I believe it says on the bottle = 3 gallons of water which equals 48 cups (16 cups = 1 gallon) per bottle of dye to acquire desired color as shown. Am sorry it didn't work out for you but as they say 'practice makes perfect' so don't give up.
that purple color you didn't like is what inspired me to go for it- I LOVE that color lol! I'm going to be dunking a whole pile of my clothes soon, thank you for the inspiration!
Rit has an after additive to dip your clothes to preserve color. A super important step, use salt water for coton & vinegar for other fabrics. Watch a how to on their channel! You are missing vital steps!
I need to do this too. Note: yes, more dye is a must, but also… add the dye to the water BEFORE the clothes and mix it well so you get a uniform color. You will get blotches if you add the dye on top of the clothes.
I would suggest using the RIT dying instructions that are on RUclips or using the instructions and ratios on the bottle. Also you may have more luck using a reactive dye, RIT jet black, RIT Synthetic (most of those stretchy garments are filled with polyester and rayon). Also some color theory works pretty well here. Looks like the RIT dye is actually mostly purple. So you may have more luck when dying anything that was green/yellow. Every time I skimp out on the amount of dye I use I always end up regretting it 😂
Maybe add the dye in the water first then add wet clothes for a more consistent color and texture result? Thanks for your bathroom laboratory lesson 😜!
Rit does have a synthetic version. Maybe give it a try Im gonna dye this Nike sport synthetic skirt that’s bright turquoise hopefully it changes to black or a darker grey
The real? Well, the real steps call for adding the dye to hot water first, then mixing the dye in the water. Next, add salt if dying cotton fabric and the correct amount of water per bottle of dye. I didn't see any of those steps followed. so if you call this, "the real" then ok.
Oh my God our names are so similar!!! My name is Skylar Renee!! That's such an amazing coincidence! I found her Channel by the way by watching all of your hula hoop videos
If it’s a porcelain tub, it soaks in the dye temporarily. But you can fill the tub back up with hot water and a little bleach and it goes back to normal! (Learned this from the tie dye community) ❤

Your also supposed to add salt or vinegar depending on the fabric material & add the colorstay RIT fixation dye after

Welp, I’m really grateful for fail videos because now I can anticipate what could go wrong when I try this 😅 Thank you for your service haha
Why am I so invested in watching you dye your clothes!? Lol I want to dye a hoodie and your videos are the ones that hook me in to watch 🎉

i cant tell you how many times ive gotten that dingy purple
Thanks for Showing End results.
Did it dye your tub? I’m scared to use my dye cause idk what to do with the water after
Not me trying to watch dye videos and find a fellow former duty freak 😍 you look amazing girl! Hope you've been so good 🖤
Omg small world!!! I miss those duty free days!! ❤️
My friend that loves purple would have loved this😂😂😂❤
How do you dye clothes in hot water without them shrinking?
Those look so nice
Purple is my fav color I’d be happy with the results haha

Boil the water next time? And more dye. I think 1 bottle is meant for 1 item. And then there’s a sealent by the same brand that keeps the color in it
I think it’s because you didn’t use a color remover first. It’s hard dye over an original color, it just turns different weird colors.
Does it get rid of splashes of bleach???
You can’t get rid of bleach stains
Do you think 1 bottle is enough for just dying underwear?
Probably!
Lol! Thanks for being honest and showing us the real! Lmao

Not going to lie I like that purple
U should be put all the clothes in one bin and put the two bottles of dye in it maybe even 3 . And let it dye longer
The 4 sharing the fails! I always skimp on the dye and get disappointing results... That explains it! 😅
Can you make a video on boiling old jeans and using the water to dye dresses
I am going to dye a pair of light colored denim pants that I love and want to give a second life to. 😊
tie-dye shirt looks so comfortable wtf
So... what will you try differently next year? =)
I’ll definitely be buying more dye 😅
Very pretty.
Guess it is a learning experience for us all
Live and learn
I think you forgot to add salt/vinegar to the proper clothes
Try the rit dyemore dye
Oh my God our names are so similar!!!

You forgot the cup of salt!!!
Madam. That caboose is caboosin
😅😅
Yes.
Could I just do it in the bathtub?
You probably could but it might dye the tub

Ohhhhhh noooooo 😂😂
You used 1 bottles for ALL those clothes? 😂
