For those who are confused by the ice purse, this video was posted in mid-May. Only in mid-June did Camila say the purse wasn't that much. Reports said that was the cost not due to the water, but the rose inside that was thought to be 18 carat rose gold and lots of .5 carat diamonds. Also the video just shows two different realities in America. Form your own opinions...
Ahahahaha, people acting like it's the first time they realize there is a precipice between the rich and the poor in this world. Hellooooo!!! This has been going for thousands of years.
100% of that money goes to supporting the Metropolitan museum in New York. The met gala is a fundraising event, so the more money the tickets cost, the better it is. Edit: i have been blocked from commenting either by youtube or the uploader, so i can't reply to anyones terrible and ignorant opinions. Please keep replying to me about how funding educational activities and a museum is bad and that we should only focus on one single issue in the entire country, homeless people. Im sure the people who have that opinion haven't stepped foot in a museum anyway, so its not like they are losing anything. By the way, the museum only costs 0.01$ to enter for people who live in New York. In most cases of homelessness, funny as it sounds, wont be fixed by giving them a home. They need mental health treatment, social programs, rehab, and some need to go to a mental institution for help, as most wont even want to accept these programs and help. Throwing money at the problem will not fix it. Smart, thought out, government programs is a good start. Send a letter to your state representatives if you actually want to help, instead of getting upset at a museums fundraiser.
@@Neliboo10so the money goes to the costume institute specifically cause they’re self-funded (aka the gala *is* the source of funding). They store thousands of costumes from all over the world, and the majority of the money is probably going towards the electricity bill cause with textiles you have to climate control each piece. There’s also the restoration of the newly acquired pieces; it’s nice to see their collection growing. As a museum the MET is also very generous in terms of providing access to the majority of the collection online (very few museums photograph *and publish* their archives).
I'd also be willing to bet most of the celebrities you see there didn't pay for their ticket. Whoever made their outfit probably paid for the ticket as an advertising expense

@xXJunnaXx I agree celebrity worship is weird but I don't think there's anything wrong being a fan of a famous person for their movies or songs etc for their artistic merits
But how are they going to stop people from doing drugs( the zombies shown in some parts) and people from making bad financial deductions ? People put themself in these situations and if you really wanted an easy life it’s not that hard to climb out if you just apply yourself and get the right help.
They try to divide us in anyway into sanctions especially by "Race". Honestly there is only one race the human race. There are many different cultures and ethnicities but over all just wish we could work together to defeat "them" together as one. Unity is key but many are not willing to push hate aside and accept love...
There is a big conspiracy theory about that. Goes in conjunction with the ideology that we will own nothing and be happy for it. The theory is that the Hollywood elites put Easter eggs in their movies to tell us what the plan is for the future. When we worship them like gods and go pay the prices in the movies, we consent to the future agenda. The Hunger games, Divergent, Maze runner even the Simpsons are some honorable mentions of the theory. Idk if there is any truth to it but I find it kinda sus that the subject matter is playing out in front of our eyes.

No it’s more so people don’t get the proper education on money and how to handle it. Also there a overall drug issue ( which you can see from some of the zombies shown in clips) that doesn’t help these people’s cases either, but at the end of the day majority of them do it to themselves . If you really wanted to live comfortably you can apply yourself to get a well paying or at least mediocre paying by job

No ideologies are the biggest problem. Alot of the morals of modern western society are predicated on the information fed to us on a daily basis, and most of that for most of us is entertainment. Cravings for money, sex, drugs, all derive from Hollywood. Its one of the greatest evils in the world
People gotta understand that the hunger games are based off of the construct of society. Suzanne Collins was inspired by watching tv and seeing high profile personalities on one channel and a documentary about poverty on another
@Moss_piglets What can I do? In today's society, if you don't tow the line, you get axed. Guys! This video isn't that celebrities should be helping the poor and they shouldn't be allowed to be rich or anything. There is nothing wrong with celebrities being rich. It's the big DIFFERENCE between the rich and poor. It just shows us that our world is becoming really divided ... and it's sad because world leaders are at the real fault, not caring or doing anything. Edit: STOP FIGHTING IN THE COMMENTS! I bet all of you are grown adults! I'm 14!!! Stop! I'm just stating what the video is meant for! To clear up confusion! Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee stop!
Let's go down this rabbit hole since you think celebrities aren't as much to blame as "world leaders." In America, what is the most effective way of passing or changing laws and policies? Lobbying, which costs capital, gives a law, bill, or policy a 70% chance of passing. Now, who preaches the loudest about change? Celebrities use every platform they have to let the masses know things need to change. Now, how many of those celebrities are using their wealth to lobby for the change they claim we need. They point at the leaders and say, "They're to blame" then they point to use and say "its up to the people to do more" but they never use thier most powerful tool to enact the changes they demand of others. They are free to be rich. They have every right to be, but make no mistake they do not care about the masses and will never sacrifice the way they demand of others.
I am conflicted one side I feel well they are struggling but a lot of time they don't do anything to help themselves most of those that are on the street are addicts, often refuse to get job or get help due to their addiction
The ice purse was more like 1k and was purchased from Etsy for 35$. The designer who did it was open about that to the people that asked. The reason it was even 1k is because they paid the lady whose idea it was that money for her idea and time. They spray painted it gold. The rest idk about but I agree the amount of wealth in that room is pure evil.
I dont understand why people keep blaiming celebrities in everything bad what happens around the world They have nothing to do with poorness and wars. Rather u should blaim politicians cause they're responsible
Yeah, but don't even blame politicians. Blame politicians for the problems in your own country. Quite honest, it's completely asinine to think because the mayor of no nowhere Ohio tells Israel there want a ceasefire that all of a sudden Israel's going to not fire and Hamas is going to stop being a terrorist organization. Also, if you don't like the way the country's going get out and vote. Less than 60% of Americans who are of voting age showed up to vote in the last election. And that was the highest one since Obama won and before Obama there was some elections for presidents and senators that were down past 40%. If all the people who went out and voted who said went out and voted well, things would change. The reason why democracy works better in other countries is because people vote.

I don’t care about drug addicts because you can clearly see with your two eyes that those people are under some type of drug. Being homeless is a choice.

@@magu9841Being homeless is not always a choice, or they are forced onto the streets because they have nowhere else to go. It would prevent so much of this if the system would be designed better to help these people struggling. My sympathies go out to them, not everyone is fortune enough to have a solid support system.
I was homeless for nearly a decade and recently got off the streets about 6 months ago. It really bothers that people have the audacity to make a mockery of a part of our society that is extremely sick and then sit on their high horse to point the blame at anyone but ourselves. WE obsessively seek the entertainment industry for the next hit movie, album, fashion shit show and it’s us as a society that pays them to parade around as narcissistic gods. We point the blame at government for their lack of action but it’s US as citizens who chose what we want and what we will put up with. Those people who are folded in half are in fact plagued by the fentanyl epidemic. But those people also knew what they were getting into when they decided to start using, and so many of them use because of severe trauma that has affected their mental health and emotional health so self inflicted harm is their way of coping. I believe ending the drug war will promote harm reduction and increase treatment options. Tax and regulations on every single drug as well as safe locations where use isn’t done in the public eye, life saving care can be provided, counseling and treatment options can be easily available and provided can be exactly the right steps to help these people fight for their lives and get back on track to be integrated into society and reunite them with their families. Providing housing is simply not enough to stop the problem. We have to infiltrate it at its core, like any infection, for our communities to heal from this devastating disease that’s crippling our society as a whole.
The relief I get from people that have full perspectives on an issue instead of immediately jumping to witch hunts and violence is immeasurable. Every once and a while I hear people allude to the French Revolution and all I can think about is the peoples penchant for violence, not the aristocracy being unable to understand peasant life.
Things are getting worse and a bit scary. Like what are we all really going to do when everything does become too expensive for average Joe? I Live in and am from Baltimore city MD and it really shows how bad it is in the country. Things are so messed up and out of order!
Although people have noble intentions, post like these are somewhat ignorant. Ignorance is the fact that people try to pin the blame on specific individuals when it is the system itself that is to blame. The politicians, the corporations, the billionares, these are the individuals who are actively hurting our society whilst these celbrities are just people who happened to be benefitted by it. Zendaya's outfit here specifically paid the rent and wages of a large amount of hardworking designers and artists, the tickets shes purchased and the gala itself raises money for charity and the preservation of historically and culturally significant artifacts at the museum. That 'ice purse' rumour itself was disproved, and the designers came out saying that they literally bought it off a small creator on Etsy. Blaming the celebrities themselves and hating on them doesnt get us as a society anywhere, since they arent the reason for the societal injustices. People really like to dogpile on the rich and understandingly so, but refuses to take actual action against government and corporate institutions. If yall want change, take actual action for it. If youre sitting there on the other side of the screen typing out comments about these people, and you yourself has not taken actual action or anything to help the victims of society, then you are a hypocrite. What I'm saying is, dont mindlessly dogpile on random celebrities for societal problems the poor faces, blame the fricking system that the government and the corporation have made. Overthrow the damn corrupted politicians, join movements, do protests, sacrifice yourself for a cause, if yall want change then MAKE IT HAPPEN instead of sitting in a chair mindlessly acting rightous.
Its not just celebrities, I think we all realise that. Its the billionaires and mega corporations. Celebrities are just a wheel in the machine. I think more importantly I can say that we are waking up and no longer tolerating this status quo. The revolution will happen in our lives and it has already begun in our hearts and minds.
Celebrities are the cornerstone of the system that I hate so yes I despise the celebrity first. IMO celebrity is a cornerstone of money power corruption pyramid . Why would I support the product (celebrities) of an industry (Hollywood) that is corrupt and gross ? By stopping support of celebrities, you’re stopping support of the industry.

This IS exactly what we’re saying. If you can afford 75k for a show ticket…. You can put 50k into the city you came from. Idc if it’s “their” money. “Our” money is robbed in taxes while they write it off …. With great power comes great responsibility…. They’ve duped the fans into thinking they’re above the common man. THAT is the divide.
I mean some people have to realize that some people who go to the met gala worked hard in their life to make it where they are and the ones on the poorer side made decisions or they couldn’t get the help they need. Most celebrities do contribute a lot to society but that isn’t thrown around a lot.
For the ticket, the celebs themselves do not buy it. They get sponsored by a brand or company and then wear their clothes to promote them, which they also do not buy

Once power belongs in the hands of the people and not capitalistic corporations and politicians we can see true legislative change. They create value, and they get to spend it how they wish. If you want to help the poor, create value yourself and provide a person with an income. It's the most noble thing that you can do.
They create nothing but a distraction, if that's what you value, you have some things to chew on. Are their people getting paid to serve them? Sure. Does that add value? Not if you are fueling a machine that's only purpose is to get you focused on things that are not important and waste your money on things that dont benefit you. Finding "value" in entertainment and not scholars or people who want to improve society seems like history repeating itself.

People should be able to do what they want with there money. Did you ever wonder why there are homeless people? It’s because they made terrible life choices and they stand as an example of what we need to overcome. If you want to take pity on them than go ahead but don’t think that just because someone CAN do something than they SHOULD. It’s not your place to judge. 🤔
Compassion first, but because there is suffering in this world does not mean there shouldn’t be joy. What a horrible existence it would be if being happy was a guilty thing. These people worked hard and are enjoying the fruits of their labor.
I understand your point, but the audio with the video was to compare the celebrities in our world with district one from the hunger games with the way these people act and dress. District one does nothing to help people in district 12 who are suffering, and in terms of the books you don’t say that district one is just “enjoying the fruits of their labor”

You’re the unintelligent one The media focuses on celebrities because that’s the job of celebrities They’re rich and get coverage because they’re part of the entertainment industry The news channels are for talking about issues and wars etc No one wants to sit down at night and watch a plea to help the homeless they want to be entertained
Also you’re not looking at things from the right perspective Most homeless people are homeless because they’re lazy, irresponsible, incompetent, unintelligent and untalented If you helped them and have them money they’d likely blow it down the drain by being stupid and become homeless again The only way for a homeless person to overcome their problems is taking accountability and doing it themselves, changing as a person and walking down the right path
"focusing on the wrong things" I'd say culture and conservation are very important and correct things to value. The Met Gala is a private fundraiser itself. The majority of the poverty-p0rn in this short is doing the same for the OP, using the visuals of the destitute to further OP's interactions - I doubt they are donating all the proceeds from the ads to the homeless too. Not to mention a majority of those in the clips are the result of drug zombies from the American cultural taboo of socialized healthcare and Puritanist stigma of inebriation. None of the celebrities there are responsible for that, and expecting them to be some leading example when the Vast majority of Americans are just as consumerist and preoccupied with social comparison is just petty. The media focuses on celebrities, because that is what the masses want, that is what they want consume and that is what brings in the money to keep them on the air. Everyone finds aspirational escapism easy to consume - no-one wants to be shown the mirror of how much they themselves are contributing to other peoples' misery.

when people say “eat the rich” it’s most probably multi-millionaires and billionaires who hoard such a vast amount of wealth that simply having it makes it unjustified, not regular working class people who managed to make a good living by being employed, don't worry girl that's not about you 💀

I'm shocked over the $75 grand. That's insane
@@PinkSaltAquaticswhat exactly are they building or learning there??? Really curious

They get sponsored by a brand or company and then wear their clothes to promote them, which they also do not buy
regardless of who fulfills the exchange of money it's still such a bleak contrast of use of money essentially for marketing and indulgence.
@@TheDisellit’s literally a charity buddy. That’s also not how wealth works. There isn’t a fixed amount of wealth. Paying for the ticket is quite literally a transfer of wealth from brands and companies to museum, its employees, contractors, etc. who then spend it on their mortgage, rent, and food.
You’re illiterate.

All this Hunger Games larping is just making dumb people on tiktok feel good about themselves for “getting” the message.
It’s ratchet and slacktivism at best.

Also When you can blame celebrities for everything you don’t have to acknowledge the ways you are also greedy and self indulgent
These celebrities are used to distract people and the celebrities know that, they're playing their part in keeping people unaware
Videos like this bring ppl together. Yeah it would be great if there was a call to action at the end but more importantly, it shows we are waking up to the status quo.
Change won't come now but it's on the horizon, especially considering the poorer we get, the more our planet burns while the rich just keep getting richer. Once power belongs in the hands of the people and not capitalistic corporations and politicians we can see true legislative change.
But tbh this may manifest in our lifetimes as a whole ass revolution. And violent if it has to be bc the only people who can't possibly lose any more, are the poor.

Compassion first, but because there is suffering in this world does not mean there shouldn’t be joy. What a horrible existence it would be if being happy was a guilty thing. These people worked hard and are enjoying the fruits of their labor.

There are a lot of unintelligent people in the comments. The point of the video is that we as a society are focused on the wrong things. Even the media itself is glorifying rich people none of us actually know rather than focusing on the things and ppl that actually matter.
You’re the unintelligent one
The media focuses on celebrities because that’s the job of celebrities
They’re rich and get coverage because they’re part of the entertainment industry
The news channels are for talking about issues and wars etc
No one wants to sit down at night and watch a plea to help the homeless they want to be entertained
Also you’re not looking at things from the right perspective
Most homeless people are homeless because they’re lazy, irresponsible, incompetent, unintelligent and untalented
If you helped them and have them money they’d likely blow it down the drain by being stupid and become homeless again
The only way for a homeless person to overcome their problems is taking accountability and doing it themselves, changing as a person and walking down the right path
