Because: 1. Nearly no one in the world (except for a few dead heads in places like Harlem and 2 or 3 actors and Jazz musicians like Louie Armstrong) was dumb enough to do drugs, and 2. The Playwright decided to go with a script normal people would like--and oddly, still do.
Looks like Wendy's sick of playing house with a man who won't grow up. And she's taking the kids, negotiating visitation, and begging him not to find a younger girl.
You got the wrong Century, foolishness like that hadn't been invented yet. Plus, people had educations and a thing we don't see anymore called Common Sense.
Somehow, I wish Laurence Olivier could have played Captain Hook - how I'd have loved to see what he'd have made of it. Of course, Cyril Ritchard is slimy, swiney, utterly indefensible and totally incomprehensible! But Olivier - if he played Richard III, couldn't he have taken a moment from his 50's schedule for Captain Hook and Peter Pan? That would have been an immortal, never-to-be performance!
Asks yourself what you fear the most? Growing up or being left all alone on the island you call home.
Peter Pan shushes at 2:02 when he says, "Shh!"
Meanwhile the Pirate Queen spiked Peters drink with a roofie, and the fairy ended up drinking it. Why didn't she just knock it over?

I would love to stay with Peter and Neverland don’t come back home

Why didn't Tink just tell Peter that Hook had poisoned his medicine?
Because the play wasn't written that way genius.
She did, he said poisoned, who could have poisoned, I promised Wendy I’d take it and I’m going to as soon as I sharpen my dagger
She did try to tell him but Peter did not believe her.
