Hard to believe a shop would install a shut off w/o changing the hoses. Hoses are a maintenance item on pretty much any engine, especially after a couple decades. He pretty clearly just wanted a new blower. I got a weed wacker the same way, "This doesn't start, you can have it, I'm getting a new one." In that case I just added gas/oil mix and it fired right up, lol. The new ones are engineered better and work a lot nicer, however, the quality and durability is reduced. A lot more plastic(still minimal compared to all other brands, tho) and a lot fewer ball bearings.
Did you know that Ariens keeps all their old dies. So if you are into restoring a older Ariens, you can contact them and they will make you a original new part.
near the beginning you turned the ignition key off then you had no spark. Did you have it turned back on after you cleaned the points etc.? Not real sure what that key is for besides killing the mag but usually on snowblowers that happens when you put the throttle back down to the bottom. The rest of the video great but Just sayin. as far as spark goes.

Did not know that MrRjl! Thanks for the info..
Hey I appreciated this video. Just got one of these for $100 and it won't start. This gives me great tips for how to get it done :)
Glad I could help!
Awesome job. I wish I had mechanical skills to fix things.
Love these machines
Thanks for watching!
Bravo great video!
Thank you! Cheers!

Yes I turned it back on after cleaning the points. The key just grounds out spark to shut it off. Thanks for watching!
@boringcontent7848 so then in the early part of the video, the key was off!!!
Tecumseh engines were the best. As soon as ariens went to Briggs the quality of the overall machines went down.
Spot on! Thanks for watching!
Tecumseh carbs. will drip gas when you over prime them , this is normal .
They sure do. Thanks for watching!
