Zercher* (it's somebody's last name) Yeah I have easily done 1 arm elbow lifts with 1.5xBW yet can't curl a third of my bodyweight with 1 arm 😂😂😂 definitely a movement of its own
seriously this video was hilarious from start to finish lol but also really interesting! I have NEVER done any Zercher work at all sooooooo maybe it's high time I did!
Absolutely love zercher squats. Once you adjust to the initial arm discomfort they absolutely punish the whole body. Nearly up to double body weight. Woot
MAN!!! I am definitely trying #7 Rotating Zercher Squats tonight. This video was perfect timing, released on my zercher squat day. Im also curious how the Zercher Good morning is going to hit the hamstrings when compared to RDL’s.
I sliced about 26" of a pool noodle through one side and made a bar pad. Thicker than a regular bar pad or pipe insulation or wrapping a towel around the bar. And its orange...easy to find in the garage.
Added Zercher bulgarians to a programme i was following and my legs blew up with the volume of the programme. Some weeks had these at 5 sets of 10, doing about 37.5kg (total) which at the time for me felt like RPE 9. I put these as one of the biggest reasons my squat shot up on that programme. Also Jeffersons which remind me abit of the Zercher goodmorning, my lower back has never had a niggle at any weight on anything since adding those in.
Hey Brian, wonderfully informative video, very well explained! I appreciated the elaboration on how these variations have functional carry over, something I had only considered on a surface level untill now! Question for ya; I was experimenting with Zerchers squats and found an interesting idea but am not sure of the validity or carry over to what I had found, the Anderson-Zercher squat, starting from a very low racked position and exploding up from there. The idea came from having difficulty maintaining a brace while doing heavy Zerchers starting from a standing rack position, and I would start to gas out before I had gotten myself into position to begin the lift. By starting at the bottom, one can get a good brace and focus primarily the explosivity required for the concentric portion, rather than focusing on maintaining a prolongued brace throughout the movement. This logic applies mostly to sets of 3 reps or less, as anything higher doesn't have such nearly as much taxation on the ability to maintain a solid brace. Does any of that make sense or am I just justifying my own B.S? 😂 I hope you're doin well man, always happy to see you upload!
Doing Zercher squats with an SSB and bear hugging the pad instead of holding the bar is also a pretty wonderfully brutal way to do the beloved zercher 👊
The zercher get up is the only one I haven't done, yet. I love zercher anderson squats, as well as the zercher anderaon box squat variation. I got a name for ya, so there's the good morning where's the wait is above your center of mass, then there's the Romanian deadlift with the way to below your center of mass, both being the same exact movement just with a different position, but here, with the bar in your elbows doing that very same motion I call them good nights because you can easily pass out haha this is not something to take beyond maybe two reps and reserve. Speaking of names and reference to the gladiator deadlift, that version of a rotational squat zercher style could probably be called a wrestler squat or a fireman squat 🤔
I have been doing them for many years and there have been a few instances where I stood up empty elbowed feeling a bit dizzy so that's where I got the sleepy time aspect of coming up with the name good nights
@@pretty_flaco @megaturling Lmk what you guys think but in my experience, it feels like the axle bar wants to roll out of my arms and the center of gravity feels worse than with a regular barbell and a towel.
man ive avoided zerchers because i have a broken bicep too. mine is off at the elbow though, distal instead of proximal, so i dont have very much meat by the elbow at all.
When you have to hit legs but hate it, do Zurcher’s and tell yourself you’re doing arms😂
I like this line of thinking!
That's literally what I do 😂. I actually be excited to squat when I'm doing zerchers
🤔 Brilliant. BroScienceLife would be proud

"A good friend will help you move and a great friend can help you move a body" - This is scary hearing from real life Jason Bourne.
Do Bulgarian split squats while zerchering AND IN JEANS. You absolute weapon
Haha I appreciate that, brother!
I'd like to suggest that we rename number 10 the "Grizzly Shrug" in honour of M'lord.
All hail the BloatLord!
I can hear it... his voice...
Your last videos made me create my most favorite 30 min workout:
- Zercher Squats
- DB OHP
- Gladiator Deadlifts
I LOVE the Gladiator deadlifts
Just started doing zercher squats since i have no rack. Love these ! Full body workout and kills the core

For reps? Bloody monster!!
Haha. 1RM. Not that strong 😁
I would go with unicep... that way it's magical like a unicorn 🦄
Haha!
Oh my gosh. I love the Step Aerobics approach. Gonna have to try that for sure. XD
Zercher Shrug is what Kyriakos Grizzly our bloatlord does
I had no idea, but they are definitely a great exercise!
This video had vibes of your videos from like 5 years ago. Love it!
Zercher squat is goated for sure. Such a wholesome movement. Unfortunately you rarely see people doing them.
Commenting just cuz you're awesome
I truly appreciate that, my friend!
Great video. Great variations for zercher.

Love this video. Thank you, Brian

Brian you are a STAR! Hope your new career path is progressing satisfactorily. Which axle bar do you use?

Shout out Uncle Nic!
Gold!
Zercher gang for life! Also, think we could get banners or shirts again soon?
Gonna do some Zurcher bicep curls and Zurcher tricep pushdowns later 😏
Kyriakos Grizzly is proud of your number 10 exercise!!!!
uncle nic functional fitness secret, finally
I need jeans that can stand up to a Zercher variation.
Awesome 💪💪💪
What could get more functional than that
oh first hello brian
Hello my friend!

For zercher hold, palms facing up or palms facing each other?
I honestly don’t think it matters. Just do whatever feels best to you.
Thanks Coach Zerchers are rapidly becoming my favourite way to squat 😅
Palms facing together fist clenched. It flexes your forearm giving more padding. Also more functional.
Trying it with an axle or a thicker bar is also easier on your arms
the zercher get-up is fucking hardcore, gonna have to try
Do you find the axle bar a bit easier on the arm crooks than a traditional barbell?
yes, absolutely
@@pretty_flaco @megaturling Lmk what you guys think but in my experience, it feels like the axle bar wants to roll out of my arms and the center of gravity feels worse than with a regular barbell and a towel.
Doing a Zercher carry with a Yoke is a special form of hell
axle better than 28mm?
I think they’re about equal, a regular barbell might be slightly easier because of the smaller diameter and more bend, but both are completely fine
Do you prefer a normal width barbell or an axle bar?
I missed a video!
Hey Brian, why Axle Bar vs. Normal Barbell for Zerchers?
man ive avoided zerchers because i have a broken bicep too. mine is off at the elbow though, distal instead of proximal, so i dont have very much meat by the elbow at all.
I do zercher because back squats give me headache
You forgot the zercher cossack squat 😅
When he only has one bicep but his arms are still bigger than yours :')
Damn when did you tear your bicep like that
Zercher deadlift start position hurts
Zercher Shrug makes you most FULL
If Zerchers bother your arms just wear some volley ball style elbow pads and rotate then 180 degrees.
Wow, never saw your unicep. That must have been a NASTY tear...
Come on Brian, zercher? I hardly know her!
Ha!
The Cult of Z preaches it .. real men Zercher...the Git up looks 🤪... can't wait to try it.
Functional. Yep
For the algorithm
now im intrigued to hear about the missing bicep…
Don Tricep was jealous of Don Bicep
Berzercher
What’s a berzercher?
@@BrianAlsruheOfficialIt is a play with "berserker" 😅, can only be that.
@@BrianAlsruheOfficialThe Vikings who were rumored to use drugs to be more aggressive in war
@@BrianAlsruheOfficial You are one, great video as always. Ligma :)
Cant tear your bicep if it’s not there…….😂
Jesus, wtf happened to your bicep?
Looks nasty.
They are freaking painful
It helped when my dad slipped in the bathroom! I lifted him off the floor.
But if a bear comes into your gym how will you handle that mr strongman?
I'm pretty sure in his pullup videos he talked about the functional use to escape a bear!
He lives in the woods,
I’am sure he has a rifle for every room that matches the decor.
They'll make great training partners.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Uncle Nic!
