    I bought this pedal for it's MuTron model and the fact that it can be VERY simple... if you want it to be. That I love some of the other factory presets was a really nice bonus. Now months later I've introduced a midi controller to my board and am looking to the spectrum to see what else I can do with it. This pedal is really a multi-effects pedal in a small enclosure. 13 different drives, on a filter pedal??? Yeah. I love this pedal and would happily have paid the $200 I spent on it on just the MuTron model.

      I can see why you are so happy. I didn’t think it would stand up to the analog versions but I was wrong. So many great sounds!

    If you have the nemesis delay you would want the ventris reverb, not the collider, which I believe is a partial combination of the ventris and the nemesis, for people who don't want to buy both pedals, but since you already have one... I have both, along with the midi controller, the tremolo, the chorus (which has phaser and flanger embedded in it also), and the la lady along with the eq and neuro hub. You can do combined presets on all the pedals in any combination. Like you, I've barely scratched the surface, but have found tones im very fond of. Honestly, the pedal I change the most is the eq. It's an awesome product. Just bought the spectrum so im enjoying watching your tour of this product.

      Great point. I have considered adding the ventris or selling the nemesis and going with the collider. The nemesis is wonderful but I only use two or three presets. I have a lot of untapped power there. Of course, I have been pondering this for about two years already. 🤷‍♂️

    I have had the Spectrum for several months now. I have used many of the user created presets as well as the great factory presets. I have not jumped into creating my own presets with the editor yet. I'm a tech geek for sure but I know when I open that can of worms I run the risk of spending way more time on my laptop than playing my bass. The customisation capabilities are on a whole other level. I love envelope filters and have owned most of the top pedals on the market. I always stayed away from digital pedals as a rule until I bought S.A.'s original Bass Envelope Filter. It was the one I kept although I sold all my other ones. Finally let it go after getting the Spectrum. Its honestly worth every penny if you were limited to the 6 factory presets. I have noticed that a few user created presets posted online will not load to my pedal anymore,which is strange and obviously is not related to my pedal,since many will burn to the pedal normally. Anyway,I am going to bite the bullet and open the Neuro editor to create some presets. If no one hears from me in a few months send me some Reeces cups and tell my mom I love her😁

    • @PJandtheBeard
      @PJandtheBeard  3 года назад

      If you are diving into that editor I am going to need your mother's number to give her a call. Reece's cups are on the way. I'll send the new big ones with pretzel pieces in them... amazing!

      I could have wrote that. I'm more openminded with digital pedals than I was a few years ago. But I'm often too lazy to use the software. And I'm afraid to open the Pandora Box.

    Holy wow that sounds incredible. Can U assign a footswitch to control parameters?

    • @PJandtheBeard
      @PJandtheBeard  Год назад

      It is midi and expression pedal capable. You would want to check the jacks they use to make sure it is compatible with what you have though.

      @@PJandtheBeard Thanks. I've been researching and one guy said that U can upload all sounds from this device on the C4 but not vice versa...still I can't seem to see this confirmed anywhere on their website. It'b be good if they put more info about which sounds can go onto which pedals. I think the chorus, phaser and flanger can take all the sounds from each other too.

    Another great review guys! 🤠 Now that said, and with the precursor that I LOVE Source Audio stuff, I do NOT like this one for the Jerry tone. I do however love everything else it does enough that I just might have to snag one anyway! That one sound along (#5 I believe it was) is worth the price of admission!

    • @PJandtheBeard
      @PJandtheBeard  3 года назад +1

      I wouldn’t be surprised if you could find a Jerry tone in there that you like more than what I got. I agree with you that number 5 is worth it. I also liked the oc-2 sound a lot too. Fun pedal for sure!

    How do you compare it to more expensive options? Maybe it’s in my ears but the Q seems a little fast - similar to modern qtrons but unlike the jerry style mutron which seemed to be a slower envelope sound.

    • @PJandtheBeard
      @PJandtheBeard  2 года назад

      It is a really nice and versatile pedal. I'd say the sounds are in there and easier to dial in than many other envelope filter pedals. That said, the real Jerry purist might like some of the other options out there better. I think Jerry's true tone is really hard to hit. Especially when you consider the gear he was using. I love the Eastwook Tiger we have, but it is so hard to get a good Jerry filter tone with it running it through the low watt amps we use. After getting that guitar the higher wattage amps he used makes more sense. The internal preamp really drives the signal. I wonder if that is why so many people recommend putting a boost right in from of their mutrons when going for his sound.

    • @grosebud4554
      @grosebud4554 2 года назад

      @@PJandtheBeard wow thanks for the informative response! So true. There are some mods you can do in the older qtrons (the giant ones) where you replace a resistor and it makes it way more mutron like.. there is a video on RUclips about it. I think having that tiger slightly below unity gain buffer Jerry he is also key. The wah becomes useable at all guitar volumes.

      @@PJandtheBeard Thanks for listening to Circus of the Dead. I wrote it after going to my one ☝️ GD concert with Jerry back in 1995 just before he passed. The whole scene reminded me of a Circus. The guitar tone on that song is my Taylor T5Z guitar into spectrum then my Rotovibe on the univibe setting. Love my rotovibe. Then it’s got some Bodd Dd-20 analog delay and a bit of reverb from a Hall of Fame2. Into a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Nice ear picking out the rotovibe. ?

    Get analog pedals these digital chinas made pedals are not very consistent . If you reliable gear don’t waste your money on this company’s gear .. I’m just one guy it think about the money before you spend it on this crap .

    • @PJandtheBeard
      @PJandtheBeard  2 года назад +4

      Source audio is a Boston company. Where I would typically agree with you on analog over digital you may want to try their stuff before ignoring it. Their delays and reverbs are top notch and this pedal is great too. I thought we would flip it after this video but we still have it, even though we have some of the best analog filters on the market. This is definitely not a low cost Amazon buy. Sounds great too. Honestly, I didn’t experience that digital feel that is typical.
