    I also bought it expecting to be able to do two independent CV/Gates on two channels. My fault for bad research, I guess. Though it seems like they could provide that with a firmware update, the hardware is enough to support it.
    The 2HPMIDI can do this though it only has USB input not MIDI (suits me, tbh, I'm connecting from a DAW so USB is perfect for my use-case)

      I think the 2HPMIDI is a nice little module, I bought the CM1A second hand but I'll stick with it...

      No worries, it really got me thinking about duophony, and how I might use it, so cheers!

    4 months later and youtube's omnipresent ear hears me doing something very similar to you. I'm trying to create simple chords (eg 2 notes) via a much more convoluted system...but my results are no better. I'm using midi out of microfreak (just a controller) thru Beebo to Neutron (was trying to include Brains but gave up) and sending sep cv pitch and gate to 2600vco and chipz ....splitting all six outputs (para on the 2 3340s in neut) to the 2 Dreadbox Eudemonias and then back into Neutron filter vca..etc...back out into Beebo for effects...omg! Cacophony

      the Neutron will run in Paraphonic mode - but yea, messing with control and voltage, and MIDI, can be confusing!

    8:30 That was the big question about the CM1A... Sad it cant be used as independent channels for different sequences... :(

    • @abominablemusic
      @abominablemusic  Месяц назад

      indeed, I mean two separate outputs, ok, cool, oh, it's just a duplicated output... In fairness, this is likely the cheapest MIDI to CV module out there!

    hello guy! excelent tutorial but I have a little question for the mono mode: if you put the CV Mode in "Mono" (in synthtribe) you can setup diferent midi in channels for cv&trig outputs ?
    example, whit octatrack control the top cv&trig outputs pairs through channel 4 and the bottom cv&trig outputs pairs through channel 5.
    In the video you just dont click the mono mode, and i downloaded the synthtribe in home but couse i dont have the module, the configuratinns never load

    Hello abominable music, can you help to synchronise the tempo of a the 960 sequencer behringer and elektron analog rhytm mk2 ? I use for this midi output elektron to midi input CM1A.

      @abominablemusic  27 дней назад +1

      Ah yes, modular vs hardware, where control voltage, clock, and MIDI meet (and often don’t play well). I’m not familiar with the 960 sequencer, but I’m guessing the Control Input accepts ‘clock’. Annoyingly, the CM!A doesn’t output the clock component of the MIDI input, although will put out Gate. I think the decision to make is what is the device that will determine the tempo. I think this would be the Electron. Then MIDI out from the Electron to CM1A, then use the Gate out into the 960 seq. That might work? Or, if you have another module that inputs or outputs clock, the could help. The Electron might have a dedicated clock out (if would be 3.5 mm output), this should run the 960.
      Let me know how you get on!

      Hum, just looking at the manual for the elektron rhytm mk2, no dedicated clock out (surprising, most Korg synths have this now, although this is largely to support the volca range). So, yea, maybe use the elektron as Master and MIDI out to CM1A.

      @@abominablemusic Update: I managed to modify the tempo of the 960 sequencer via the elektron! In fact I now pass a midi IN cm1a cable to midi OUT of the arturia keystep and from the midi in of the midi keystep to the midi OUT of the elektron. My sequence on the 960 sequencer is not well synchronized with the elektron, I really have the impression that it is shifting. I will see if I can improve the synchronization by modifying some parameters of the keystep (Seq / Time Div / Rate). Maybe my midi chain is too long to synchronize a modular sequencer. Thank you for your help

      @@tearoflead1938 Arturia keystep defo has Sync Out on 3.5mm cable, I'm pretty sure you could use this to clock the 960. Sometimes electronic music feels like doing a PhD!

    What kills me about Duophonic mode on the CM1A is that the second note reverts to the first note when you release. So there's no way to play a two note chord that has any sort of release time. Mutant Brain is the far superior product in almost every way.

    Does the midi through receive midi from usb?

    • @abominablemusic
      @abominablemusic  8 месяцев назад

      Quoting from the manual: USB - Connect to a computer to transmit MIDI control signals to the CV and Trig outputs. The module can also receive firmware updates via this connection. MIDI THRU - Pass the signals received at the MIDI In jack to other devices. So, I'd say USB to MDI thru doesn't work, however, MIDI In to MIDI thru works well (I've defo done this before).
