I really appreciate how you addressed the Predatory Lesbian trope. It’s a real issue in my life. Being a lesbian myself I often find that my straight friends, who are girls, will not invite me to their sleepover parties for fear of sleeping in the same room with me and suddenly go quiet when I talk about my newest crushes on straight girls in our school that btw is full of straight people. I’m just a little gay fish swimming in a SEA of heterosexuality!!!! Anyway, any light brought to the subject delicately is honorable and helps a lot. Thank you!
I'm lucky that I live in a place where people are fairly comfortable with me and my orientation, but this is still definitely a trope that needs to be addressed.
@@user-mb9nm7bq5e Porn is different from romance and friendship. People rarely want to see the steps between strangers and sex. When a friend comes out to other friends, despite them possibly being turned on or even curious, they are very scared to talk about it or address the relationship challenges that would occur. Now that doesn't excuse exclusion or silent treatment, but it's not as simple as homophobia. It's likely just something that their family never talked about; it could be worse. For every single person its different.
Honestly one of the worst parts about the "proving a disabled person is faking it" trope isn't just that it's a cliche, it's that it encourages abled people to distrust disabled people and has lead people to think that people who use wheelchairs have to never be able to walk. Sometimes physically disabled people need their mobility aids and sometimes they do not. Sometimes pain isn't bad or it's inconvenient to have the mobility aid or they don't have to use it for short distances. There's an expectation that people who are in wheelchairs cannot ever walk, that the only way they can get around is the wheelchair. That people who use a cane or crutches have to ALWAYS have to use them. That if someone doesn't have a limp sometimes, they're faking it. It's even plot point in mystery shows. Doesn't help that when a show is interested in showing a disabled character it's only ever someone who is permanently wheelchair bound causing abled people to just have ZERO concept of the diversity in experiences of physically disabled people who use mobility aids. I'd love to see a show have a character explain this to the audience because we're still literally at the point in 2020 where the audience needs that explicitly told to them. This concept really stems from the idea that anyone who could ever walk would always walk. Anyone that could ever walk without a cane would walk without a cane. It ignores that pain and muscle strength are variable and that pain is an important factor in whether people who could theoretically walk without a mobility aid, even for short distances, choose to. Seriously, writers, you need to understand that the "this person in a wheelchair must have been faking their disability because one time they were spotted standing or walking" is problematic and inaccurate and causes real world harm. I get enough dirty looks for being under 30 and needing a cane. And the execution of the trope in this show again literally says "anytime you suspect a disabled person of faking it, you're probably right so you should expose them!" which could lead to wheelchair bound people being thrown out of their chairs and/or wheelchair users who can walk sometimes being ostracized unfairly.
you’re totally right! sometimes i can walk, sometimes i need my crutch! i’ve even had people try to force me up stairs when i’m using my crutch just because they know i have the ability to walk, even when i shouldn’t.
Wow, I just feel like I really have to thank you right now for commenting this. I sincerely had never tought about how people have the need for different mobility aid from time to time, and I just realized how the lack of representation of this in media can be so harmful. You've opened my eyes a little bit. Now... I guess that I am going to do my research :')
@@meiko6120 hey, it's okay! i rarely thought about it too before it happened to me lol. education and earnest learning are the best tools to combat it though!
As a child I certainly thought the way that media makes you perceive it. However, there was a woman at my synagogue who used a wheelchair and had a helper dog (who I loved very much). I saw her stand when she recited from the Torah and it was very moving. Now I try my best to stay educated~
The scene in that show with that trans character just outing herself randomly in a public bathroom made it clear to me the writers have never even TALKED with a trans person. Like even going IN a public bathroom as a trans person is fucking terrifying, and in a world where we are assaulted, harassed, and even killed for our identities it’s just unrealistic and weird for them to write a trans character who seemingly doesn’t have to worry about the stress and danger we all know every day, and honestly its misrepresentative and willfully sockpuppet-y.
@@monochromebunni3887 but something being a comedy doesn't instantly make it blameless? and comedy still affects reality? like look at all of the comedic tropes of men being sexually harassed and playing it for laughs, it certainly didn't make male victims of sexual assault feel better. sorry but packing as many harmful stereotypes and wrong representations of minorities (that the makers of this movie aren't) as you can, and then slapping "comedy" over it doesn't mean you should get away with it and that you're magically free of responsibility. Blackface used to be comedy as well you know
y'know, unironically, I like how all of your videos have clickbaity titles. Like oh, you came here expecting CinemaSins shallow analysis with dings every five seconds? Prepare for actual critical thought instead!
I vaguely remember one line in the show that was VERY YIKES. it was something like how Patty's bff was telling Patty that the pageant coach is a convicted molester. And Patty just goes, "well that means I actually have a chance with him." I was like EW. NOOOO. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO that's NOT OKAYY
You are absolutely correct. Source: Topped out around 275, terminal disease put me down to 150, and I have bingo wings that would do any granny twice my age proud.
Why do we keep letting people who haven’t been in high school in 20 years write about high school. I looked it up. All the writers are at least 40 years old. One of them is in their 50s. Bc yeah THOSE people totally know what teens will respond and relate to.
Ailish It is a really weird pattern. I’ve been out of high school for over 15 years, and I wouldn’t be able to write something even REMOTELY close to a real teenager today. A big part of why is because so much of what I remember about being a teen is irrelevant to many teens (especially younger ones) today. Younger writers (Maybe someone right out of college) may have less experience, but are much BETTER for this material if Hollywood insists on writing teenage characters for teenage audiences.
Because people actually in high school or most recently out of high school aren't the ones getting jobs as screenwriters and the high-school/college demographic (14-25 year olds) is one of the most lucrative in terms of people actually watching series on TV or streaming sites (along with the retirees). It's not really anything that mysterious.
noel090909 I agree, because they have some experience because again, just out of college and they probably know more about high school then 40 and 50 year olds do.
The show is like some of us teens trying to write a book in wattpad. You have the main idea and start writing it, you write 2 chapters with a specific goal, but end up not knowing what to do and adding as much twists and drama as posible to "entertain the audience, sometimes remembering the main idea and coming back to it and then forgeting it again.
Having a “disabled” character who’s exposed to not be disabled is also an overdone harmful trope that downplays and invalidates the very real struggle disabled people have
My play thoughs are weird names, a lot of pregnancies, building a new house whenever i buy a new piece of furniture, clothing each sims in a color theme and themes of their lives. I.e, Sim Y has to do job X and has to have a basement laboratory and one weird looking wall.
One more thing I'll never understand about shows and movies centered around massive weightloss stories is how they never mention the loose skin. They never even acknowledge that it's a thing. I've gone from 245 to 145 and now sit at 155lb. I have loose skin on my belly, my back, my arms and my chest. Those are areas that fat people with body image issues often focus on because it's where the fat or lack of definition is most apparent. It's a source of insecurity for most of us and to have gone through the whole weightloss, when I originally anticipated to have my dream body afterwards, as naive as that might've been, to have a new onslaught of body imperfections in the exact same area exist because of my results is now a brand new source of body image issues. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario a lot of people never get out of.
Jeremy Cote stretch marks too..im at the opposite end..gaining weight from being underweight rn gave me thigh and boob stretchmarks..silver lines...but losing weight from my pre ed weight didnt give me any loose skin...but i was young and i was only 140lbs.. lose skin can be reduced with healthy weightloss and gradual fasting..like one day a week.an obesity doctor in my area promotes intermittent fasting and water only fasting and most of his patients dont get admitted for skin surgery because the hydration and skin healing from fasting helps skin elasticity...plus toning exercises..planks tricep dips commandos and jumprope prevent lose skin when i lost 60 lbs..but i lost too much weight
Nanami Wu nah they make Nonnie do some weird shit to patty that comes off as predatory. Like when she pins Patty on the bed and tries to convince her to take her clothes off and kiss her...idk it was creepy. It was upsetting to see a show in this day and age portray lgbt characters this way.
The predatory trope is a huge problem. When I was outed as bi in high school I got targeted by a group of girls who thought I was going to molest them, and they ended up kicking me down a flight of stairs. I wasn’t even remotely interested in these girls either sexually or romantically.
@@gloomy_nightflower7007 It's sweet of you to ask. The stairs incident happened in 2009 and I've since made a lot of supportive bi friends. Only lasting effect is that I sometimes have a hard time trusting people.
Btw if you disliked and didnt watch the review automatically thinking that this is 30 mins of her talking about fat-shaming like some of these comments indicate, its not. Its well thought out and well reason and a lot of the critiques have nothing to do with any social issue
*blackstar98* A lot of the parts that aren't about the fat shaming other than on the abhorrent voiceovers and other editinc failures, like the diversity segment are poor.
Elijah Thomas the episode with the trans woman from the trailer is actually really good. The trans people aren’t shamed in any way. The “cool” boy actually brings the trans women to take over for a bikini dog wash that originally was a bunch of teenage girls, but the teenage girls got too grossed out by the dogs so they couldn’t continue the charity fund. But after this “cool boy” brings the trans women to the wash, there’s a scene where Debbie Ryan and one of the trans women meet eachother in the restroom and it’s just a really nice scene and episode overall :)
As someone who is trans I was very pleasantly surprised by the episode. It was actually pretty nice. My guess is that they either had a trans writer on the team for that episode or consulted a trans activist in how they should write and do trans representation on the show (and they actually listened). But yeah you only see the trans character and background actors one episode. I believe every character and background actor who is trans is actually played by someone who is trans. If anyone is looking for some better then average scenes with trans youth characters I would recommend just jumping around in that one episode if you want some context or just watching the scenes with the trans character in their own.
@@brooklynncd Id like to point out that theyre not all trans either, its an lgbtq community center if i remember correctly? so you get your lovely dose of drag queens and as well as other members.
The one thing I hated about Insatiable (well there are a few things but regardless) I hate the way it’s treats it’s high school characters. No one, I repeat NO ONE acts like that in high school. This proves that either the people creating this show have never been to high school a day in their lives, or that they are so old that they forgot about it
If we really tryn'a make shows look like an actual school, we're gonna need: - Kids going around screaming shit. - People flexing on their airpods. - Everyone cursing. -That kid who always comes late but doesn't give a fuck. - A group that constantly talks about fortnite and PUBG. - A group that only wear designer clothing even tho we all know is fake. And don't forget actors who actually fit the part. Y'know if a movie is about 15y/o i hate it when they bring these 27y/o actors like how hard is to find an actor who is 14-17 or someone who actually looks like they could be 15. Example Riverdale: The kid actors are meant to be 15-16 even tho everyone is 21-30.
you know as someone who's had their jaw broken and wired shut to repair it, you really don't lose that much weight. I only lost around 10 kg (22lbs), and I know that that's something most likely very specific to my metabolism, but every time I see the trailer I can't help but think that that kind of weight loss is insane to call realistic.
Yeah, that's so fucking crazy. Like, not eating causes your metabolism to SLOW DOWN, so it's not that fucking helpful. If she started exercising, being more active, and eating better, that would help... but, you know, that has nothing to do with having your jaw wired shut. One would assume that you'd be less likely to start a work-out regimen than more due to having your jaw wired shut. It's fucking crazy that amount of bad information there is out there about how to lose weight and get in shape. I mean, it's largely common sense - be active, eat better - but there's nuance to it - like eat *better* not *less* - that gets glossed over. I guess they think it's not the point, so let's just speed past it... and, sure, I understand that argument, but why break the immersion of the show when you could just make it more realistic?
Depending on her weight, 22 lbs is A LOT of weight to drop-especially for a teenager. During weightloss regimes, Doctors recommend losing one pound per week unless they are carefully watching the progress.
Like the Heathers reboot, this series suffers from pretentious writing & poor storytelling. Insatiable has the subtlety of a cliche Disney Channel series and the desparate edginess of a cliche CW series.
There's this annoying trend (I blame the 2010s... probably undeservedly) I that if you underlined or draw attention to the issue that makes it good...it doesn't. Someone else here said it first but...it doesn't make it good, it makes it bad...
Yeah, I feel like not a lot of people can write an actually good and well-structured satire. Throwing "crude" jokes about everything is not satire, it's just lazy.
I agree, for the first two episodes. They were trying very hard to establish a fun cliché cast and plot and genuinely had a few slip-ups. As for the rest of the episodes, it seems like they were trying to show what would really happen if you took the flat, awful characters from something like Thirteen Going on Thirty and just let them bounce off eachother for 7 more hours of screentime: crimes, murder, pregnancy scares, casual abandonment, and all-too-realistically, no consequences. Those episodes were bad because the characters were bad, not because of its eclectic plot, but because of the actual errors that were present from the beginning.
Yea exactly. I'll defend Insatiable from the people saying it was problematic or fat-shaming or "setting a bad example" because it was none of those things. But I can't defend it as a well written satire either. I watched the whole series because it was like watching a car accident happen in slow motion. It's an _interesting_ show, but not for good reasons. It got SO predictable to the point where if anything mildly positive started to happen to a character it was just a game to figure out how many _seconds_ it would take for it to go completely wrong. You can't base your ENTIRE dark comedy off of one continuous "if it's getting good, it's gunna go bad" trope. Some storylines felt really forced too. Like the end where Patty plans to kidnap that whats-her-face pageant girl but gets reversed(?) kidnapped. Like not only was Patty given a chance to abandon her petty behavior and go be with her friends but also HOW did Stella Rose and whats-her-face pageant girl _know_ that Patty was going to go after her? Like everything bad that happened to Patty was her own fault, and she never came to realize that. Satire doesn't mean the characters can't have development or self-awareness.
Am I the only one that hates this trope of 20 something year old actors playing high school students like, I always used to wonder why teenagers in tv shows and films had such clear skin, great teeth, looked so perfect and had such an extensive vocabulary , because when i was a teenager i kept on breaking out had oily skin, had to wear braces and I had a good vocabulary but not one that ressembled a middle aged man. lmao. Itd be nice if Producers and directors were more realistic in their casting so viewers could relate to the high schoolers they see on TV, instead of casting 20 somethings in shows like 13 reasons why that look like they belong on a cover of a Vogue Magazine. because it sends out the image of having to look perfect at that age which leads to teens obssessing about looks. It'd also be nice if screenwriters talked to highschoolers about what high school is like and how teenagers act because they've obviously forgotten.
blackham7 I don’t particularly like that trope but tv is an industry and runs on money. The truth is that there are so many restrictions on minors working on tv shows (mainly the hours that they can work) it saves money and is so much more convenient to hire someone over 18. I have some links if you want to research this more: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/broadly.vice.com/amp/en_us/article/evgzvj/inside-the-phenomenon-of-grown-adults-playing-teenagers-on-tv www.backstage.com/news/backstage-kids/understanding-union-rules-and-labor-laws-child-actors/ labor.ny.gov/formsdocs/wp/LS559.pdf
They could at least write realistic dialogue and add (fake) braces and acne to the adult actors. Just making their hair look oily and have them carry themselves awkwardly wouldn't be difficult and would make them way more realistic/relatable to most teens
I totally agree with you. And to add on, producers and directors can also get away with a lot when they’re working with adults over kids as high schoolers, in terms of “sex scenes” and other mature topics. It would be really awkward and gross to watch minors act out those scenes, but with adults, we don’t even question it.
I love how the worst character (Regina) is the most self aware. I loved when she told Christian, "I'm an awful person, but I dont let that stop me". She quickly became my favorite character.
idk how many writers this show has, but i can tell that it has the symptoms of a writing team that wants to get all their ideas in, but can't make the appropriate sacrifices which would allow the story to flow logically with it's "narrative". This kind of attitude where the writers don't argue enough, and simply end up trying to appeal to each other with the most watered down, insular product which lacks the necessary "edge" to capture what a coherent and honest narrative might achieve
I was disappointed by the show. I knew it wasn't fat shaming, but the actual show didn't know what it wanted to be. The writing and the plot was all over the place. Nothing felt casual. I felt the show wanted to be a weird mixture of Mean Girls, Glee, Hart of Dixie, and Heathers, but it has none of the good qualities of any of those shows or movies. None of the characters are even likeable. I know we're supposed to feel sorry for and relate to Patty, but I just hated her.
Virgie Grace I couldn't agree more! When the trailer landed, I wasn't impressed, but I decided to give it a chance, speculating that it might be better than the trailer gave it credit for, and that it was supposed to be a "satire". I was sadly mistaken. "Insatiable" has so much wasted potential. It can't seem to decide what it wants to be, so shamelessly steals from much better material.
Daniel Iredia Neither is Mean Girls or Heathers, get those are both movies that I love. My issues with the show have nothing to do with realism. In order to have the audience root for a character, they have to relate to that character. Not only that, but the plot also has to make sense. Even completely fictional and fantasy like shows, such as Supernatural or Once Upon a Time, have structure and reason to the plot and actually have characters who you can root for. Even though those shows may have their own issues, they're much more enjoyable to watch.
Daniel Iredia And just because she does bad things doesn't mean she's supposed to be unlikeable. There are many characters in many shows and movies who are villains and do bad things, yet many people like them
lorna She doesn’t “deserve” better. She signed on to this show and doubled down in defending it. I’m not saying she can’t come back from this, or that it says anything on her acting ability, but she doesn’t deserve better than what she knowingly and willingly took on.
thank you for mentioning the predatory lesbian trope!! lesbians like me have a really hard time approaching girls because of the fear of being found predatory among many other things. :/
Insatiable more like... Insufferable. I absolutely hate when plots are just spoonfed to the audience. Then what is fed is mushy and bland. Baby food. You're right, like Dora. Those lines are laughable.
Ace A.P "Insatiable more like Insufferable!" 👍👍 👍 Lmao that's a really good one! I think this show also has a poor depiction of men concerning its male characters are shifty, douchey, cheating, chauvinistic stereotypical males that feminists (like the one who created this piece of travesty shit) love to whinge on about and love to write about! A point I have yet to see be made as everyone is obsessed with offensive to fat people depictions of lesbians and other crap. There are NO redeemable characters in this shit show.

yeah, always sunny in philadelphia is an example of a good series where ALL CHARACTERS are assholes. But they are also funny. The show knows this, we know this, that's the point. In insatiable people aren't assholes, they are mean, and not even disney villain oh-I-love-being-bad mean which would also be fun, but just... malicious mean and the show pretends they are complex characters that deserve sympathy. If the show acknowledged that everybody is just a big douchebag and played it up, then fine, but nope
Lexi Rosalios we’re all assholes but the characters in insatiable are completely, 100% unlikable assholes. even the shittiest people i know irl have *some* redeeming qualities that makes me feel bad for them
The anime konosuba, and anime in not more weird that other tv, nor is it more sexist, does it right. Is a comedy bu the characters who can be huge jerks like each oher and have redeemable characters. And suffer. You can make the worst characters more likable by suffering.
Exactly! I found this video while searching for a review to help me explain my feelings about it. I was kind of hooked but then started feeling like I was bingeing on fast food lol
The fact this show has a disabled woman being exposed for having been faking her disabillity while also being pushed off a roof and a woman "destroying" a guys life by accusing him of assault and everyone believing it and acting upon that just tells me that there were many men involved in the writing
I will add: 1) I saw some character development in Brick as well, and I liked his character. 2) The pandering stereotypes in this show were ridiculous. 3) I would have loved to see more about Nonnie's dad, I loved him! He was kind, funny (but not in a dumb dad way), understanding, and all over fatherly. It kind of got to me that we were made to believe Patty had absolutely no father figure, then at her party he mentions she was like a second daughter. I know she might not have saw him that way, but I really loved his character.
And this series portrays the lgbt community again like we feel romance differently. The GBF is OBSESSED with her straight friend when she knows she’s straight. Like helloooooooo we are pretty good at not liking people once we realize they won’t like us back. We won’t stock a person, or act like this at all. Arghhhh it’s so frustrating.
CheekyLittleBliker Honestly I think thats just when she's just starting to learn about her own sexuality. I'm not saying everyone is like this but it would make sense for her to have such a strong crush on her friend even though she knows she's straight. Something similar happened with a friend of mine in highschool. Same thing happened in the show to where once she was open to the world as well as herself, she still had a major crush on me for a long time but she learned how to handle it thus being able to move on & be happy. Not saying everyone is like that but the show isn't entirely off.
WHY DO YOU FEEL LIKE EVERY LGBT PERSON ON TV HAS TO BE A REPRESENTATION OF THE LGBT COMMUNITY?? Nobody thinks that that’s some typical characteristic of gay people wtf? It’s just a GIRL being obsessed with another girl not a LESBIAN WHO REPRESENTS THE WAY THE WHOLE LGBT COMMUNITY FEELS ROMANCE. Lgbt people are normal people, they can also have flaws, on tv too. Just calm the fuck down and stop thinking of everything as a portrayal of the whole fucking community it’s a SEPARATE character. Or are there no individuals in the lgbt comunity??
I disagree just because that’s how I realized that I wasn’t straight as well as one or two of my friends. Just because you don’t relate to it doesn’t mean others don’t
I'm not gay, but I know for a fact that is nearly impossible to stop liking someone just because they don't feel the same way about you, I've had a crush on the same guy for like ten years even though he has no feelings for me what so ever...
Just watch My Mad Fat Diary. It’s the best show ever. Edit: It does voiceovers correctly, the main character Rae doesn’t lose weight to move the plot forward, Rae is played by the vastly talented and beautiful Sharon Rooney, the characters are so incredibly well-written, and the show is hilarious.
The whole show is terribly written. I don't mean to be harsh but like.. the producers are obviously home schoolers because they don't know how a real high school works.
@@mysweetpiano9945 Actually it premiered again...but it was the same first season with one or two changes. Also two episodes were combined into one and I don't think there'll be a Season 2.
Great point. Hannibal the show also did a great job of not woobifying the title character imo. They make him charming/intriguing, but never let us forget that he be doing awful sh*t. So the tone and framing matters and it can be done.
I'm all for unlikable characters, dark comedy, and social satires-but this just sounds like some shitty cultural artifact from 1998. It sounds like a rip-off of "Popular" where Carmen is the main character, but the showrunners don't know their asses from their elbows, so it's just audience-insulting garbage instead.
i also like the things you just said their at the beginning, and what she is saying about this is show is true, a lot is wrong with it, BUT its amazing, when they go dark and fucked up, it really makes up for the bad stuff

Yes, I'm spamming this comment section. Sorry, last one. If Glee, Scream Queens, 13 Reasons, Santa Clarita Diet, and Riverdale were empty fast food containers and someone scraped out the leftovers into one bowl = Insatiable
Brave Kate You're quite right! It shows Rae struggling to come to terms with her weight, and we see her grow and develop into a stronger girl, and also focuses on her relationships with her friends and family, as well as her various insecurities.
I really liked insatiable but I also trust your opinions so I'll hear you out lol Edit - I always took the character voiceovers as kind of a diary entry reenacted, 90s style. If that wasn't the intent, then yeah it's insulting
This is probably one of the best reviews for this terrible show ever. I love how you made the distinction between evil characters and unlikable characters. Walter White is still one of personal favorites as an incredibly sympathetic yet unambiguously evil man. Disney villains like Scar from the Lion King or Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame are both iconic bad guys where you can kind of see where they were coming from yet their actions are unjustifiably wicked at the same time. And yes, show the audience who the characters are. Inner monologues are one of the most commonly abused devices to get a character's motives and intentions across and this show is yet another one that does just that. Not that there's any actual "characters" in the show -- everyone acts like a fucking cartoon or caricature, kind of like in Glee. No-one in the show is remotely realistic so there's no impact to whatever horrible thing they do. Like you said, this could've been remedied with some growth but nope, nobody ever grows or learns anything through the course of the first season. Them being awful human beings could've been remedied if they were funny or likable like The Gang from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia but nope.
Oh I love this new trend of using lampshading to pretend your problems are purposeful and that you are a good writer, you're just purposefully writing badly, using cliche and stealing things from other things because uh... it's a black comedy? Self-awareness is funny? We're surreal, look how cool we are? Riverdale did it and that got a season two?
@@bmoore1908 it's a generalized statement. There's a lot of shows nowadays that claim satire and don't actually achieve that. That is what I'm addressing.
despite it’s faults, insatiable is still one of my favorite shows. the way it talks about eating disorders, with humor and without glamorizing it, really interested me. patty being a horrible person just makes it better, since it allows for absurd situations and fun twists. yeah, it’s kitschy, but i think it’s a great show to watch when you’re just looking for some easy entertainment. it doesn’t have to perfectly realistic for it to be good, and no show can even be described as good or bad since these are subjective opinions.
Bad people portrayed well is why Arrested Development is so good. It's hilarious and yet no one escapes unscathed, not even the father and son you kinda root for.
The voiceover problem reminds me of a problem in comics, when the caption boxes explain exactly what is going on in the panels. For example, you have an image of a character looking upset, and the caption box says "This news upset Jane Doe greatly."
But I think it was supposed to be that way - they‘re not stupid, they decided to let everyone‘s thoughts be displayed along their actions. They chose this certain style of tv making. I am sure they wanted it to be this way. And I personally don‘t think this means the audience is considered „stupid“ or like it needed someone to explain what is happening.
i remember seeing somewhere that debby ryan listened to a body positivity podcast to make sure she didnt portray plus sized people offensively, even though the podcast actually said that fat suits were negative??? good job miss radio rebel you didnt get the point
Here’s the thing, I’m a dude so this might be different. When I was in high school I lost 55 pounds between my junior and senior year. I got better at sports and I felt better. Literally everything got better for me, I was more popular, happier, and life was easier. I don’t know why people think that this is unrealistic.
Because ultimately, nobody will give a shit about if you lost weight. Like when she enters the school and suddenly everyone is looking at her. That would never happen in real life because nobody gives a flying fuck.
Young & Funny the thing is, this show is a joke so obviously the stuff on this show is unlikely to happen. People need to not take it so seriously. If you let it bother you, that’s on you.....not the show.
I guess it just depends on your experience? I was overweight in middle school but lost a lot of weight suddenly to the point where I was actually now underweight. My bullies still called me fat regardless. When I pointed out I wasn't fat anymore and the idea seeped into their brains, they started calling me anorexic.
I went through the exact same journey, I lost 35 pounds in high school, and yeah, I was definitely more popular, happier, and felt genuinely better about myself. My newfound happiness, however, really came from the fact that I am no longer the butt of some jokes, and that I can now fit in with certain groups. What if, instead, we respect people and accept them no matter their weight or attractiveness? There are some people who genuinely couldn't make the same journey we did, and for them, they're stuck in that cycle of bullying and silent judgement with no way to escape it, and we both know how much that situation sucks.
usually (from what i see in others I haven't lost weight or been overweight myself) when people expect their lives to get better after they lose weight, they're not talking about their health or physical abilities they're usually talking about socially and their self esteem. they expect more friends or a relationship right after reaching their goal or finally being happy with themselves just cuz they no longer have a belly which usually isn't the case. I'm happy for you though good on u for improving your life for the better man :)
People really do think that just because they personally didn't see anything wrong with the show, means that nobody saw anything wrong with the show. Remember kids, even if you fart on purpose, it still gonna smell bad.

I’ve been watching the show and I love it. Mostly because it is so terrible. The chaos of the characters and the plot line changing constantly is very... intriguing.
9:00 It's clear what Nonnie is talking about, was clear to me anyway. She's talking about how things are different now. It's not that Patty doesn't care, it's that Patty doesn't seem to understand that it effects Nonnie that she is in love with her. And that changes their dynamic. Patty may "not care" that Nonnie is Gay. But Nonnie is hurting for different reasons and scared for different reasons. It wasn't about her sexuality in that moment as it was about the actual fact and reality that she's in love with her(Patty) and Patty didn't seem to understand why that changes things after she admitted it. She figured nothing had to change cause "she didn't care". But it goes deeper than that, and Nonnie was letting her have it for not thinking about why she (Nonnie) would still be effected by the reality of being in love with her and knowing she can't reciprocate those feeling, and why things would still be different between them and that their innocent naive moments can't be innocent anymore. The crux of it was also that Nonnie had just been asked out by another girl that said she gave off a "vibe" as in a "gay vibe" and Nonnie freaked out, because she is in love with Patty and never thought about anyone else and there was kind of a comfort there. Especially when the cat was still in the bag. But that comfort zone is pretty much ended once Nonnie admitted her feelings for Patty and she has to emotionally deal with that, and she didn't feel like Patty was understanding that side of things and that hurt her worse. Did she give Patty enough time to adjust? Nope, but she was confused and hurt. Especially given the fact she was finally coming to terms with her own sexuality an episode before. ruclips.net/video/tUvPTdmkVqY/видео.html Which was actually a really good scene I felt. But she "finally" was starting to figure out what she wanted, and finally accept that she was gay, so much so she gave off a 'gay vibe" according to a girl that had just asked her out which is why she started freaking out, and this entire situation was taking a toll on her. Hence her being mad that Patty didn't seem to take the time to level what she was emotionally going through. Because to Patty, it was okay cause she didn't care if Nonnie was gay and that would make things alright. But it's not that simple, her opinion of Nonnie's sexuality isn't the be all and end all of what Nonnie feeling and going through. That was the point I believe. I thought that scene was pretty clear about that.
Lol, I agree, the show was flat out bad. It wasn't offensive, it was simply a disaster in terms of writing and characterization. Great commentary & video, your criticism was very much on point and you express yourself very clearly, which I appreciate a lot. Keep doing what you love!
Satire is all about punching up. All this show does is to punch down. I repeat: ridiculing minorities and/or already disadvantaged people like in this show is not what satire is.
Genuine question: What if the way Patty's character was done was completely intentional? Like we're not really supposed to connect with her, at least not yet?
yes. Patty is not made to be relatable because she's an insatiable psycho. so critics saying that it's not good because the main character is not relatable missed the point.
@@DolorCinAmet right like “omg I was fat, now I’m not, realize I’m a horrible person (doesn’t change), I killed 6 but in kinda self defense and I’m still lying about them, but since I won the crown so murder just be the answer 🥴”
I know, most of the controversy was sparked due to them hiring a skinny actress to wear a fat suit. The showrunners defended its use, saying that it was easier to have a skinny actor "bulk up" than to get a heavier actor to shed some more pounds. While that is true, at least we're not supposed to find "Fatty Patty" funny in the same way as "Fat Monica" from "Friends" or "Fat Amy" from "Pitch Perfect".
I think insatiable would’ve been more interesting if instead of getting smaller- she stays the same. That her character grows from sweet to sour and starts standing up for herself from her bullies. Instead of feeding on candies and fatty foods, she feeds on the rage and revenge she seeks- I GET THE FAT SUIT BUT The only thing it did was make me think that her being fat was always temporary and not a real burden.
"My Mad Fat Diary", a British show which deals with similar themes of weight angst and being over conscious about your appearance, managed this remarkably well. We see Rae grow into a more well adjusted, happier person over the course of three seasons, with her transformation being more mental than physical.
I watched that actually! It was really great! But since insatiable is only in its first season. I think they can try to figure out what message they’re trying to send and maybe develop their characters more. It happens with a lot of tv shows were the first season is a “test run” and then somehow they find their ground. Fingers crossed?
Psychedelic Peach I'm glad you liked that show! I regularly recommend it to all of buddies! I'm hoping that if "Insatiable" gets greenlit for a Season 2, that they'll learn from their mistakes, and realize what message they want to get across.
I love you're holding a cup while you're spilling the tea💕 Btw I was feeling the same way about the voice-over like WE SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING GIRL YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL US!
I personally loved the show. I take it as a huge cynical and over the top comedy. And honestly, I really hope it has a second season because the ending was so good. But I do understand the points you made.
I’m on this video because of the second season😩 funny to watch because I can’t take it seriously but it’s still a terrible show. It’s has it moments that can be triggering like the inner feelings the show about eating disorders are somewhat true
This video is SO great and says everything I’ve wanted to say. I love how well spoken you are. Also, random but you look like Bianca from Ten Things I Hate About You! Also also the good place is genuinely one of my favorite shows!
I see this video essay and respect the analysis done but disagree with all but the problematic things said or done in the show. I really liked the show, found the characters interesting and complex, and overall thought it was clever and funny. However, everything is subjective.
@@satousays just popping in to say that I wish everyone responded to reviews like this. Respect is so simple and easy and I genuinely appreciate u for just letting there be multiple opinions. "Its ok to have media with character who aren't good people [...] but if you want to be successful at writing likeable characters who are also bad people they need to have some degree of relatability to them [...] and they need to learn and grow throughout the course of the show" I'd *really* love to know what are your thoughts on Bojack Horseman then
To be honest, Bojack Horseman works precisely because you can still relate to the characters, even when they're being awful. Also the characters are not *uniformly* awful people so even when Bojack is being a complete cringeworthy dick, you have a lighter character like Todd who you can genuinely enjoy watching. And, most importantly, characters face consequences for their actions and the show itself makes it clear that the awful behaviour they engage in *is* awful behaviour. To be honest, I can't really say I like BH as a show because the show as a whole is just too unrelentingly nihilistic, but it definitely has "bad people but likeable characters done right" down.
A 30 minute video dedicated to bashing "Insatiable", a show that not only fat shames its characters, but also makes tasteless "jokes" about sexuality and molestation, with horrible characters to boot? You just made my entire day, Sarah!
Caitriona Quigley the show is satire, though (i’m not defending it because for other reasons it sucks😂) so the jokes are meant to be stupid and tasteless. the characters are, on purpose, meant to do the dumbest things possible, but debby ryan also sucks at acting and the show has the dumbest scenes that aren’t supposed to be satire...
+caj014 That's true, but a lot of the movies I enjoy (namely "Heathers", "Mean Girls", even "Wayne's World"!) also satirize or exaggerate situations for comedic effect, but in those cases, the protagonist usually has a redeeming quality or grows in such a way that you root for them to succeed in their goals and become better people. "Insatiable" offers no such of an arc for their characters, and as outlined, they don't seem to ever learn from their mistakes. If your leads have no likeable traits that offset their previous awful actions, then why should we care about what happens to them?
Caitriona Quigley looking back on the show, that’s true. i feel like they’re off the hook for fat shaming but the show has bad writing and lacks any creativity. it would also help if debby ryan was actually good at acting lol.
+caj014 Yes, I can give them some credit for not expecting us to laugh at Patty when she's "Fatty Patty", and for some genuinely moving moments, mainly involving Nonnie questioning her sexuality. But the problem lies more in the strained acting, and the lack of subtlety, and the over reliance on voiceovers as exposition.
I don't believe the show does any of the things you mention, it certainly does not place a positive light on fat shaming or molestation. If anything it rightfully shames the characters who are fat shaming, and makes it a point to emphasize how outer beauty is meaningless without inner beauty.
I liked the show and you’re completely right on everything it’s not actually a GOOD show, 😂 I liked it was because it was BAD and all over the place. I think the reason the other characters are unexplored because the two main characters only really care about themselves and we’re supposed to see things from their perspective. It’s like a cautionary tale, you watch patty ruin her life over and over again.
right! I saw a video similar to this on Alex Meyers channel, and I thought "oh, I'll never watch this" it was advertised to me on netflix a bunch and I was like "okay, fine, just one episode" but I got hooked on how hilariously bad and wacky this show is. After half the episodes I was like "wtf is this show?!" laugh about it, wonder why I was watching it and then go back for another episode.
honestly the show isn't as problematic as people have made it out to be. it definitely is somewhat problematic but the main issue is the bad writing and the fact that they don't know how to achieve the goals they had when they came up with their ideas. I didn't think the show was horrible but it also wasn't bearable for me to watch because of the awful writing.
The show has a subtle dark comedy of realism in it. Its not for the faint of heart that cant take dark comedy. I found it quit entertaining. Only a true pessimistic and sadist would enjoy the show. There was subtle narrative of dont route for patty bc she mental ill and very manipulative. Now a days kids and teens care more about action blow ups and character stereotypes and thats mostly the adults fault for raising kids who think like that. These shows like 13 reason , insatiable , etc have some series matters in them but the kids there geared to dont really care about that ( look at the emoji movies) that movie was made for this new generations. Again I dont think its really the show runners fault when all there doing is making shows geared to the most normal kids of today standard. Most kids today dont know how to read by 5th grade. Most kids today have iphones by the time there 10. These show are geard for poeple you dont have respect or empathy and are in the own little world. I think some of the writing is bad. but like I said. It kind of gives me hope that kids and teens are going 9 the writing bad) bc the show like I said is geared toward that mindless attitude of today standard of teaching.
trashyjulia ok just as a gay person, the GBF trope is really gross, like that’s all patties best friend is. That’s all she’s characterized by, and seriously they have not one but three characters that say “oh being obsessed with your best friend is normal.” Which is NOT what we do when we like someone. Like oh boy. I could go on but a lot of people have talked about it.
Well just as a panasexual person how is having a friend gay gross. I understand that its a torpe that used alot but its not gross. And thats not all patties friend is. She acts as Pattys moral compass, as us looking into the show from an outward angel.Seeing her from a different perspective. Also she isnt the only type of lgbtq representation in the show. There are many more healthy ones. No one said being obsessed with your friend is normal. This girl had an unhealthy love for her friend and was in denial about a lot of things. its not gross to love your friend as long as it doesn't get into that obsessed feature. They even go out of there way to show her girlfriend telling her that what she was like with patty was bad behavior. Also the only person who said the obsession was good was pattys ( narcissistic alcoholic emotional abuses mother) If you take the word and base your facts on a women like that than I pity your judgment.
WiseWillow it’s not that a gay best friend is gross it’s the idea that’s all a gay person can be. Obviously, that’s what I was talking about, I mean that it’s the idea that a character is only characterized by their sexuality and that’s it. That’s what Noni is characterized as, a gay person that’s her character she’s not a person she’s just a sexuality and that’s the problem with the trope.
You know there were moments in the show where I was laughing my ass off and moments where I wanted to rip my hair out because of the writing. Like the mother daughter pageant was really a well rounded heart warming part but then they flipped us off with Coralee's ego. It was so unnecessary, character development opportunity right there. And don't even get me started on the demon child inside Patty. This show really could've been something, comparable to Mean Girls even, but the writing is so downright dumb at times I just can't.
I also liked parts of it too. I feel like the show doesn’t quite no if it wants to be an over the top comedy or if it wants to be serious. Like when Patty eats her birthday cake alone, that was so sad.
I’m on episode 11 and literally the only character I still like is Choi.. and it’s prob bc we haven’t even seen enough of him to give him a chance to be unlikeable
At 9:56 you say she cheats at the beauty pageant, she didn’t actually cheat. She WAS going to but called Christian and told him she wasn’t going to do it. In the end it was Magnolia and hot Bob who end up cheating.
i thoroughly enjoyed watching insatiable. that said, all of what you are saying is true. i really just think it was a hilariously enjoyable trainwreck of shitty writing, bad editing, and wild plot points. thanks for another amazing video!
90% of writers behind these Netflix originals needs to retake sixth grade writing so that maybe one of the shows will finally grasp the idea of "show, don't tell".
Honestly the voiceover explaining the characters' emotions and intentions minus the redundancy is something a lot of people would appreciate even in a show with great acting (please,, help,,,,,,, i miss so much stuff and have to rely on fan analysis to understand anything cause i cant read tone and body language help)
Thank you!
ooh girl i got the same problem theres this boy that when i ever go near him he flinches and does the karate hand thing like hes that scared
Well put. I remember that when I came out to my straight girl friends, some of them started being distant. Whyyyyyyyy
I worry about telling people I'm a lesbian of fear people will think that about me :(
Honestly one of the worst parts about the "proving a disabled person is faking it" trope isn't just that it's a cliche, it's that it encourages abled people to distrust disabled people and has lead people to think that people who use wheelchairs have to never be able to walk.
And the execution of the trope in this show again literally says "anytime you suspect a disabled person of faking it, you're probably right so you should expose them!" which could lead to wheelchair bound people being thrown out of their chairs and/or wheelchair users who can walk sometimes being ostracized unfairly.
yes, thank you!! as someone with chronic pain i sooo appreciate people talking about this
you’re totally right! sometimes i can walk, sometimes i need my crutch! i’ve even had people try to force me up stairs when i’m using my crutch just because they know i have the ability to walk, even when i shouldn’t.
👏👏👏
It's,,, a comedy
@@monochromebunni3887 but something being a comedy doesn't instantly make it blameless? and comedy still affects reality? like look at all of the comedic tropes of men being sexually harassed and playing it for laughs, it certainly didn't make male victims of sexual assault feel better. sorry but packing as many harmful stereotypes and wrong representations of minorities (that the makers of this movie aren't) as you can, and then slapping "comedy" over it doesn't mean you should get away with it and that you're magically free of responsibility. In reality, if Patty were to lose that much weight in that much time, wouldn’t her skin be saggy? She wouldn’t get the perfect body just like that.
You are absolutely correct. Source: Topped out around 275, terminal disease put me down to 150, and I have bingo wings that would do any granny twice my age proud.
I know like I feel like they should have mentioned that
Why do we keep letting people who haven’t been in high school in 20 years write about high school.
Because 30-40s have more experience in life and writing and working? (but I agree that they should have some teenager in writer group)
noel090909 I agree, because they have some experience because again, just out of college and they probably know more about high school then 40 and 50 year olds do.
Name a teenager who have written a good movie or show
The show is like some of us teens trying to write a book in wattpad. You have the main idea and start writing it, you write 2 chapters with a specific goal, but end up not knowing what to do and adding as much twists and drama as posible to "entertain the audience, sometimes remembering the main idea and coming back to it and then forgeting it again.

The scene w the trans girl: *pretty good, makes a nice point and has ok dialogue*
Me: aw :)
The trans character: *never shows up again*

As someone who is trans I was very pleasantly surprised by the episode. It was actually pretty nice.
My guess is that they either had a trans writer on the team for that episode or consulted a trans activist in how they should write and do trans representation on the show (and they actually listened).
But yeah you only see the trans character and background actors one episode.
I believe every character and background actor who is trans is actually played by someone who is trans.
If anyone is looking for some better then average scenes with trans youth characters I would recommend just jumping around in that one episode if you want some context or just watching the scenes with the trans character in their own.

The one thing I hated about Insatiable (well there are a few things but regardless) I hate the way it’s treats it’s high school characters. No one, I repeat NO ONE acts like that in high school. This proves that either the people creating this show have never been to high school a day in their lives, or that they are so old that they forgot about it
That's not isolated to Insatiable at all.
a lot of teen shows are like that, riverdale is another good example of this.
its based off of sterotypes
If we really tryn'a make shows look like an actual school, we're gonna need:
- Kids going around screaming shit.
Example Riverdale:
The kid actors are meant to be 15-16 even tho everyone is 21-30.
I don't know of a single high school movie in which the characters act like they actually are in high school.
you know as someone who's had their jaw broken and wired shut to repair it, you really don't lose that much weight. I only lost around 10 kg (22lbs), and I know that that's something most likely very specific to my metabolism, but every time I see the trailer I can't help but think that that kind of weight loss is insane to call realistic.
That would be good enough for a slightly overweight person like me but idk about patty
if her metabolism is that good she wouldn't have been fat in the first place, that would've taken a tremendous amount of effort lol
how long did you have it shut
During weightloss regimes, Doctors recommend losing one pound per week unless they are carefully watching the progress.
this is what happens when you let people who were never bullied in high school write a show about being bullied in high school

Someone else here said it first but...it doesn't make it good, it makes it bad...
the last couple episodes are the most fun to watch, but MAN is the ride to get there a looooooong one.
Yeah, I feel like not a lot of people can write an actually good and well-structured satire. Throwing "crude" jokes about everything is not satire, it's just lazy.
Solomon Dow the original Heathers is such a cool movie.
I agree, it's a classic!
I hate it when people use "it's bad cuz it's supposed to be bad. It's satire" as an excuse. This show's plot was all over the place.
Um satire is supposed to be good though? Heathers, Mean Girls and many others are satire yet they're amazing? I don't understand some people
@@goodjobeli ikr
Satire doesn't mean the characters can't have development or self-awareness.
ikr? satire shows can still be good shows.
I have some links if you want to research this more:
www.google.co.uk/amp/s/broadly.vice.com/amp/en_us/article/evgzvj/inside-the-phenomenon-of-grown-adults-playing-teenagers-on-tv
www.backstage.com/news/backstage-kids/understanding-union-rules-and-labor-laws-child-actors/
labor.ny.gov/formsdocs/wp/LS559.pdf
They could at least write realistic dialogue and add (fake) braces and acne to the adult actors. Just making their hair look oily and have them carry themselves awkwardly wouldn't be difficult and would make them way more realistic/relatable to most teens
I totally agree with you. And to add on, producers and directors can also get away with a lot when they’re working with adults over kids as high schoolers, in terms of “sex scenes” and other mature topics. It would be really awkward and gross to watch minors act out those scenes, but with adults, we don’t even question it.
I agree that teens should be played by teens but it can be difficult due to the actors needing education
It’s so they can have sex scenes and more risqué content.
I love how the worst character (Regina) is the most self aware. I loved when she told Christian, "I'm an awful person, but I dont let that stop me". She quickly became my favorite character.
Heather MayLeigh same here
what high schooler has this much time to plot kidnappings and seduce married men? i could barely manage matching band after school
idk how many writers this show has, but i can tell that it has the symptoms of a writing team that wants to get all their ideas in, but can't make the appropriate sacrifices which would allow the story to flow logically with it's "narrative". This kind of attitude where the writers don't argue enough, and simply end up trying to appeal to each other with the most watered down, insular product which lacks the necessary "edge" to capture what a coherent and honest narrative might achieve
Lifesizemortal This makes a lot of sense. I have often wondered how there are shows or movies where the serious topics tend to just be so shallow.

The show is satire its not supposed to be completely perfect or relatable
Also they made her do so much bad things that i dont think they expected for everybody to like her
Daniel Iredia Neither is Mean Girls or Heathers, get those are both movies that I love.

I will add:
1) I saw some character development in Brick as well, and I liked his character.
I both loved and hated Walter-nate.
This show would be a thousand times better if it were Scar from The Lion King inexplicably in this high school setting with a bunch of humans.

If you're gonna produce a show, produce the show. If you're gonna write a book, write a book.

It's clear what Nonnie is talking about, was clear to me anyway.
Especially given the fact she was finally coming to terms with her own sexuality an episode before.
ruclips.net/video/tUvPTdmkVqY/видео.html
Which was actually a really good scene I felt.
The last episode of the show was so weird
Snokalo right??!!
Kudos to you for sitting through the whole thing. I could tell it was trash from the start. I couldn't even finish ehe first episode.
1st ep wasn't all that good definitely, but it got better as it went on imo.
Stryker XL I just finished the season and I definitely agree that it gets better 😂 it's not completely unwatchable.
Miss Mena same
Mariah Cortz right I like it a lot
Same, I tried to watch it but I gave up on episode 2 because it’s so cringeworthy
Satire is all about punching up. All this show does is to punch down. I repeat: ridiculing minorities and/or already disadvantaged people like in this show is not what satire is.
Genuine question:
What if the way Patty's character was done was completely intentional? Like we're not really supposed to connect with her, at least not yet?
yes. Patty is not made to be relatable because she's an insatiable psycho. so critics saying that it's not good because the main character is not relatable missed the point.
@@DolorCinAmet right like “omg I was fat, now I’m not, realize I’m a horrible person (doesn’t change), I killed 6 but in kinda self defense and I’m still lying about them, but since I won the crown so murder just be the answer 🥴”
In high school creative writing I was taught don’t say what you can show and I think that the writers seem to have forgotten this point
I had a stroke trying to read this
when I saw the fat suit...
I knew.
Instead of feeding on candies and fatty foods, she feeds on the rage and revenge she seeks-
I GET THE FAT SUIT BUT
The only thing it did was make me think that her being fat was always temporary and not a real burden.
I love you're holding a cup while you're spilling the tea💕
Btw I was feeling the same way about the voice-over like WE SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING GIRL YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL US!
Season 2 actually addressed some of the issues you mentioned. It was A VAST improvement over season 1.
I’m sorry, this is a valid criticism but I’m watching it for bob x bob ugh I want them to kill patty in season 2 and have Bob and Bob be the leads
saaaaaame
bob and bob were the only reasons i wanted to continue the show lol.
Patty has Teratoma and if she doesn't get surgery for it, she'll probably die.
Bob x Bob, in particular Other Bob's monologues are the shows saving grace. 120%
I also agree that everything in this video is 100% accurate but I still binged the show in 2 days.
Honestly, I liked insatiable. It was chaotically good, DEFENETLY not my favourite but I liked it regardless.

Its a shame it doesn't happen more often, this comment was a much needed breath of fresh air. Have an awesome day :]
"i feel like I'm watching Dora" lmao
"Its ok to have media with character who aren't good people [...] but if you want to be successful at writing likeable characters who are also bad people they need to have some degree of relatability to them [...] and they need to learn and grow throughout the course of the show"
I'd *really* love to know what are your thoughts on Bojack Horseman then
Omg that show gave me so many fluctuating emotions
(I mean this in a positive way)
To be honest, Bojack Horseman works precisely because you can still relate to the characters, even when they're being awful.
I want the mug
"ufengke Lovely Animal Cat Mug"
Treat yo self ^^
Isaac Lutterodt it's so cute 😻
Alanah Bradshaw thanks 👌🏿
@@stephanielynette5747 It was just too WTF to not watch it.
I liked it for the same reasons 🤷♀️
Rewatching in 2022 this show was defiantly mis placed and it’s actually really good and deserves revamp!
This is a really well thought out review, but I’d also like ask: Is that Monokuma in the background?
Amelia Paine I just saw that and was like :OOOOO desbear!!
Amelia Paine I like your bow tie. Bow ties are cool
No it's emo winnie the pooh
Holy fuck, upupu man is here
hmmm.... beary interesting
honestly the show isn't as problematic as people have made it out to be. it definitely is somewhat problematic but the main issue is the bad writing and the fact that they don't know how to achieve the goals they had when they came up with their ideas.
Agreed
When the words "Confused Messages" popped up on screen, I got an ad for the app Messanger
I’m on episode 11 and literally the only character I still like is Choi.. and it’s prob bc we haven’t even seen enough of him to give him a chance to be unlikeable
I surprised myself by actually kind of liking insatiable. I mean, it's not high art or anything, but it peaked my interest.
Oh, my; I'm sorry you've seen so many disappointing shows lately. 😯 I hope the next few shows you see are enjoyable. 😊
It's not all bad, I did just re-binge watch Queer Eye
