Really, I think Yongcheng was a good kid. He had the misfortune of having a mother who kept overplaying her hand in the worst way and getting caught. If Jia hadn't spent so much time and energy causing harm, Yongcheng might have been chosen to succeed the throne.
Why did Ruyi not team up with Empress Dowager more often, citing safety of the royal children at stake. They could have pooled their authority and resources to prevent poisoning and corrupt servants getting through.
She was favored for many years, sans all those kids she had with the emperor. It’s just unfortunate that she, the empress, and a few other concubine hated Ruyi for no reason but hatred and jealousy. What they didn’t realize is that, Ruyi never even competed with them. In the end those that did everything to ruin or kill Ruyi ended up dying first. Except for Wei.
The emperor never cared for his children they are passed around like dogs being rehomed. Sad part is that this are actors but back then it was their life. Such misery
