A very healing movie. One can only speculate that the gym teacher had an artistic, perhaps gay son who either ran away or was lost somehow, and yet the gym teacher knew that one had to continue to be positive and pursue new adventures in life.
@garyleimback9576 I disagree. If you read my comment above you will see how in so many ways I feel there is a lot left to be done to "heal" the situation. Theo needs to defend himself and not just passively accept a beating. He needs to appreciate his boyfriend much more and express some gratitude. He should stop worrying about his father's absence and be proud of his artistic talent and work on developing it further. The gym teacher needs to react more quickly and thoroughly when a student is being abused and punched and he also needs to get Theo to seek some professional help with his suicidal tendencies. I do agree with you that the gym teacher is putting a good face on the situation through the puppet and it is hopeful that he is trying to call his son.
@@vernonfrance2974just german expressionistic style of acting: a lot of moods just drop through unsaid. As like no need to tell more. The fascination of "cinéma allemand"
@@paolo-px9gm I know nothing of "cinéma allemand". Grazie for making me aware that such a thing exists. I am from the USA and of Scotch, Irish, German and English descent. I learned fluent Spanish eventually, starting in high school where my Spanish teacher was Miss Schmidt. I have also had two years of high school German. However, I do not know much about German culture although my area of the Midwest where I grew up was settled largely by Germans. I had one fight in the eighth grade shortly after entering a larger city with a much larger school. Although I got a black eye and bloody nose, the gym teacher sent me and the other boy back to the locker room together ahead of the rest. Alone in the locker room with him, I said "Good Fight" and he started to cry. I was taken aback and did not know what to say after that. I long wondered why he reacted that way when he clearly won the fight. I was near sighted and didn't have my glasses on and besides, I didn't want to hit him in the face. After many years I remembered that a very handsome Italian boy had come up to me just as we two were leaving the gym and said "Good Fight" to me where the other boy could hear. I remembered later that those two had been good friends. The Italian boy had been very amiable to me in a shop class we had together along with the other boy. It finally dawned on me that the boy who started the fight with me was jealous and was trying to get his handsome friend to reject me. When that didn't work, that made him frustrated and his reaction was triggered when I used the same words "Good Fight." An expression my mother used that she'd learned from an old immigrant man when she was young was "Too soon old and too late smart." That describes me pretty well.

wonderful film ...it just goes to show that as we get older we get lonleyer in the gay world if you dont have the propensity of being able to have partner who would like to try to understand your needs
This was a good short movie. It was a little bit weird at the beginning with the gym teacher but after we understand why. However I was expecting that, during the talk with the teacher and the student, the student will talk about his issues with the fact to be gay but not about the fact that his parents are arguing 😅. There were several issues but it was kind of complicated to understand.
Sensible Schauspieler Regie! Ich habe es viel fallen gelassen!
The gym teacher had a son who was gay who killed himself. The most important things he has left of his son is the stuffed animal and his son's voice when a call goes to voicemail. The gym teacher still feels the deep void that the death of his son created in his life, and he is going to use whatever it takes to prevent another young man from taking his own life. That's why he says that everything is going to get better. Meanwhile, the gym teacher uses the stuffed animal as an authoritative symbol to make all the homophobic bullies do what he says in gym class. It's the only way that the teacher can get any retribution against the bullies that made his son kill himself.

Ten years ago it was. Actually this style of talking and hierarchical acting created the current situation of pc. Which is not better. Loveless. But correct. But loveless. But correct, but loveless. To fill your communication with human essence it needs always more than form. No system delivers more than form. I really don’t like German school systems. But there are always e few warm hearted people among. They make your school life bearable.
Bullying that was not acknowledged, high school gym teacher brings in a muppet to connect to teenage boys, whom already think he's weird... I can keep going, but the fact is that for me, there were simply a lack of cohesion to bring all of these elements together.
I found it very difficult to believe that the bullying was ignored by the gym teacher. In the USA with so many shootings in schools nothing of this nature would be likely to go unreported. Nor would the Jungen's admission that he felt like committing suicide be ignored. The gym teacher should hook the boy up with a confidential therapist. And I can't believe this young protagonist would just take the punches lying down (literally). But most incomprehensible to me is that one of the best looking guys in the gym class was not only unwilling to go along with the bully but later he was willing to kiss Theo and had even told his girlfriend about their relationship and still Theo felt no one liked him. Theo takes his passivity to an absurd degree. He should have run after his friend to try to reconnect. Instead of reacting with love and gratitude to his Liebchen he stupidly complains about him having told the girlfriend. My conclusion, our hero, Theo, has a screw loose and I hope he'll talk more to the gym teacher or to a shrink to get it tightened. As the gym teacher states, we are all islands but we have words to span the gaps between us.
