I forgot, or possibly never acknowleged the pure, bitchin', rocking awesomeness of this song. The Beets are so effing bitchin'. My mind is blown!
I never realized how incredible the guitar-work on this is, little kid me couldn't have appreciated that the way I can as an adult. Good on whoever performed it on going all out! Kinda reminds me of the heavy metal episodes of KND, conceptually.

I always thought it was some kind of song from the 60s or something, and today I realized that it was from Doug, and the song was specifically written for it? That is freaking amazing. I watched Doug in Belgium. Because I was young and English is nobody's mother tongue here, I thought the lyrics were something like "where's the kung fu".
Lip Chapman's addiction to Heroin was channeled into this 1992 classic off the seminal album "Let it Beet". Chapman would check himself into rehab later that year where he befriended Layne Staley, there were talks of a collaboration while both The Beets and Alice in Chains both had some downtime. I woulda loved to see it

Null Revolt in Brasil sing Mingau Matador/ Killer Mingau
Powerline and The Beets on tour in '95....What an amazing year it was!!!
Hello fellow 30-somethings!
Just for fun here are the lyrics!
Killer tofu!
Fast food feels fuzzy
'Cuz it's made from stuff that's scuzzy
I always thought I was such a nerd
I refuse to touch that strange bean curd
I wouldn't eat it - wooh!
But it ate you!
Ah ee ooh
Killer tofu
Ee ah ee
Ooh ee ooh
Killer tofu
I eat my sugar cereal
But it makes my teeth bacterial!
Ee ah ee oh oh
Ee ah ee
If you're feelin' kind of cruddy
Ee ah ee
Just stick right by your buddy
Ee ah ee oh oh
I don't eat
T-t-t-t-t-too much fried food!
Yah!
Ah ee ooh
Killer tofu
Ee ah ee
Ooh ee ooh
Killer tofu
It's "and don't eat," not "I don't eat"
This fictional band rocks harder than anything modern artists come up with. Killer Tofu!!!
This was my favorite show as a kid, but I haven't thought about it in a long time and then randomly the chorus "ooo ee ooo killer tofu" popped into my head at work and I am so grateful that it did. I forgot, or possibly never acknowleged the pure, bitchin', rocking awesomeness of this song. The Beets are so effing bitchin'. My mind is blown!
Back then kids would put on headphones and listen to music. Nothing else. Just sitting and listening.
It's beyond sad to realize that essentially a joke song for a kids cartoon from the 90's is far superior to anything on the modern charts today.
Ryan G hell I can watch Doug all day and you couldn't pay me to watch Gay of Thrones
So true!!!!
A truer comment almost couldn't be said on this website
Totally
What about Spina Tap's music?
The Beets are better than some bands that are out now...that solo blew me away. I've got some serious reflecting to do...
I never realized how incredible the guitar-work on this is, little kid me couldn't have appreciated that the way I can as an adult. Good on whoever performed it on going all out! Kinda reminds me of the heavy metal episodes of KND, conceptually.
I came here just to relive my childhood once again. It's awesome to hear and listen to something from the past, especially right now in this time period.
this song has been stuck in my head for the last two days
Can’t believe we live in a time where I can just pull this up at will. It used to be the case I’d have to wait for it to come on tv.
Yes this takes me back man Nick in the afternoon hosted by stick stickly that was the best cartoon around
This song is actually better than I remembered it. It’s surprisingly good
Trilha sonora da minha adolescência, o saudades dos anos 90 , e quem nunca teve uma Paty maionese heim? Rs
Doug, Skeeter, and I once smoked a few joints with the Beets outside of the Honker Burger
I’m a Beethead 4 life ...... I saw them on the I need more allowance tour in 97 with the California raisins at the county center in white plains I was 12 but they put on a great show .
🤣
Had to cook beets for lunch today an the whole time I'm singing this song. Cheers to the best generation!
I was thinking of trying a recipe of tofu with a beet sauce. I would call it Killer Tofu! :)
best thing i ever heard in my life!
Millennial Supremacy! Some zoomers can come to.
If I could sum up growing up in the 90s in one song...
It baffles me how this is a "fictional" band from a 90s TV show. They could have easily entered the charts with this tune!
We need full performing personnel for this song in the description.
It’s 2023.
This song is such a core memory I have hummed it for 20+ years
Lol how does this song still go so hard 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and that breakdown at 1:41 😱😱🤯🤯😱😱
Doug was awesome and this song is awesome! The 90s was the best time to be a kid!
From the greatest band that never existed but they need to exist cause this is awesome
We can will the Beets into existence, anything is possible.
Such as if we gave these vocals to an AI to have its way with.
AI then spits out a studio album.
That guitar riff is iconic 🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥🎸🔥
I can’t believe this literally popped in my head randomly lol! I had to hear it again. Memories….🎉
in my 30's and this still slaps, KILLER TOFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
I am listening to this song while cooking scrambled tofu :-)
don't eat too much fried food
Mais uma música foda do mais icônico desenho animado que passou na TV nos anos 90 e eu que sou dessa geração tive a chance de assistí-lo.O lendário Doug Funnie.
This song got stuck in my head for... almost 30 years now I guess? I always thought it was some kind of song from the 60s or something, and today I realized that it was from Doug, and the song was specifically written for it? That is freaking amazing. I watched Doug in Belgium. Because I was young and English is nobody's mother tongue here, I thought the lyrics were something like "where's the kung fu".
2023 and this song is STILL mad FIRE! 🔥🔥🔥
It's really incredible to me that a song this good was made for a Nickelodeon cartoon. The music/sound production team on Doug was truly talented.
Party like it's the Tour of 1995!
I woulda loved to see it
Amazing you can hear the individual influences. Little bit of Talking Heads New Wave, little bit of Ramones, little bit of Van Halen
Along with a good cup of Blue Oyster Cult.
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER. MY GOLDEN AGE OF CARTOONS DAMN I MISS THE 90S
