“Don’t move! Open the aperture and let the sound destroy you!” Your words during a retreat is what shifted everything here. Gone, gone! You’re the best pointer!! ❤️☯️☠️
I was intrigued by the note about biblical references to the five senses (at 9:57) so I did a full search and only found this (great) one in one of the apocryphal books: “They received the use of the five operations of the Lord, and in the sixth place he imparted them understanding, and in the seventh speech, an interpreter of the cogitations thereof. Counsel, and a tongue, and eyes, ears, and a heart, gave he them to understand.” - Ecclesiasticus 17:5-6 (note that this book goes by other names as well) The fact that it calls them “the five [or six] operations of the Lord” is pretty cool, huh?
Thomas 19: Jesus said, "Blessed is he who came into being before he came into being. If you become my disciples and listen to my words, these stones will minister to you. For there are five trees for you in Paradise which remain undisturbed summer and winter and whose leaves do not fall. Whoever becomes acquainted with them will not experience death." That's pretty clear non-dual experience eh?
@@SimplyAlwaysAwake Oh wow, very cool. I didn't think to search the Gospel of Thomas (I only searched the Bible and the Apocrypha) and I'm surprised I haven't seen this one. Thanks for sharing!
@@RyanBowcutt very metaphorical but it’s in Matthew 25 as well: 25 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ 7 “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ 9 “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. 11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’ 12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ 13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. So this is actually a very powerful pointing it has a lot of hidden meaning , maybe I’ll do a video on it
@@SimplyAlwaysAwake Very interesting. Of course, the standard interpretation is that people need to be ready for the event mentioned later in the chapter: 31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. But a video on how you think it could point to nonduality would definitely be interesting. Btw, I also love your idea of making a video on the fact that there are no prerequisites for awakening. 😉 In fact, now that I think about it, maybe there’s some overlap between the two: you can’t know the day or the hour that awakening will come (but if there were a list of prerequisites, that would be less true). 🤔
Your chapter in your book about fear, especially fear of helplessness really just opened the eyes for me. I inquired into that fear and suddenly felt an intense sense of losing all of control and grip. I cried like a baby, screamed like I was dying . images appeared of being absolutely helpless by myself in a desert or a dark prison, about to die. This somehow also felt beyond a bodily fear, it felt like a fear of being alone/uncontrolled as the first primal sense of self/consciousness. In that, it was clear that even the sense of an impersonal subject is an illusion, and reality is beyond the burden of control/no control, being god/being nothing. The sense of identity is „back“ again, but the senses are much clearer. Hard to describe. Thank you infinitely for all your pointings ❤️

@@glittermuse-1 Thanks, I appreciate that and agree with the spirit of it but is “sangha” the word you’re looking for? From what I’ve seen and read, a sangha is a community while a satsang is generally a particular meeting among that community (Violet, Josh, and many others use it this way for example).
I think it’s important to include any thoughts/emotions into this “experience of the senses.” Otherwise, I think it’s not all inclusive and therefore false. Yes?
Any reason why you didn’t mention the introductory series playlist for those who are new to all this (but did mention the other two playlists for beginners)?
Rather than defining NonDuality as “not two.”; I prefer “not even one.” lol. Being only One, all inclusive, there is nothing outside. No subject/object. Non-separation. No labels, nor comparisons. Whole, Complete…Perfect.
The first several remarks remind me of the lessons in a Course in Miracles where you tell yourself, "I don't know what any of this (what I see) means. Angelo, is it along those lines?
A shift happens when I can relax. The visual field takes over "me" for a few moments. But as soon as I focus on an object, the sense of subject comes back. Is the sense of object and the sense of subject both sides of the same coin? Do they arise simultaneously? I should probably try to find that out for myself..
Re: A Course in Miracles. Those not aquainted with the Course might be surprised to read that it's strictly a Non-Dual teaching. A good example is its explanation of God-Being- Consciousness-Mind: "The basic problem with mankind's understanding of God is that it’s a noun. God, the meaning of the word “God” is a verb. It means Being. God is not a Being. That would be a noun. God is Being Itself-Singular, boundless, unlimited Being-Movement. It is a Movement of Mind. Well, you can talk about the word “Mind” as though it were a noun, but it’s also a verb. It is an uninterruptible Experience of Being Conscious, of Consciousness-never inactive-boundaryless-again Singular. And this Movement of Being Consciousness is called Creation. It is What You Are. Being, the Movement of Being, is the center and circumference, the totality of every single thing that can be experienced-we’ll say the Universe, and even more-the flower-everything."

Pretty much!
Be with sensory experience exactly as it is. Don’t make more of it. Don’t make less of it. Just it’s is- ness.
