When I saw the "forbidden fruit " bottle, my eyes instantly became teary. My father brought 2 bottles of it while on a short road trip when I was about 7-8 years old. Said would open it when myself and my sister were 21. I was 71 in September, they are still in my parent's cupboard.
I have a similar bottle. My brother bought a bottle of whiskey from his regiment and I bought one from the British base here in Canada. We were going to open them at our weddings. He got married last year and we didn't open it.

The black fireproof box is what’s known as a Deed Box. They were originally fashioned to hold the deeds to your land and home/property, and any other important documents you wouldn’t want damaged, such as your birth and marriage certificates, hence why the box is designed to be indestructible. Old fashioned deeds used to be large and beautifully illustrated- not the A4 printouts we, or rather our solicitors, get now. Love your haul Danie! 💕
My father was a pharmacist...I have so many old antique bottles, labeled in gold with the writing in Latin. I have an old scale where they used to weigh the ingredients before compounding and mixing. Most of the items are over 200 years old. He 'inherited' them with the pharmacy he bought a long time ago. They were simply stored in the attic!

Great haul! I recently was in San Francisco and thought thrifting would be fun. I was not disappointed. I too love old books and found a set of ten tiny, 3”x4”, complete works of Shakespeare. They are dated 1887 and have an inscription hand scripted in that beautiful cursive of the day, from the person gifting them to a friend. How cool is that? I just love that when I touch them I can feel the spirit of every person who ever opened the cover. I love the smell of vintageness (if such a word exists). The even sweeter part? They only cost $.75 a piece. So for a whopping $7.50, I bought all ten of the treasures. And I love that you treasure things like that. Love, love, love your videos.
if you are looking for a nerdy antique thing to collect and display, buy a few pieces of uranium glass. you picked up a piece early in the video.. they are a pretty green color glass. but if you put a black light on them, they glow.

I started watching your channel when I was diagnosed with cancer/bed rest years ago and Every Video is great! Always!! Now I get reminded by my kids it’s diy catch up night. Family of 5 fans here lol 😂
The first bottle is a liqueur bottle, for something called chambourd. You can still get it but the company changed the bottle a few years ago. The liqueur is actually a purple/red colour & mixes wonderfully with prosecco.
My fiance purchased a bottle and while it's really pretty to look at, it tastes a smidge like cough syrup to me. I will have to try the prosecco suggestion!
I loved the apothecary stuff, my butler's pantry has been opened up in a old Queen Anne Victorian and has been designed to look like a turn of the century pharmacy and apothecary store, well some say it looks more like a witch's kitchen spot. with pots of herbs growing and old bottle and jars and other pretty little things and forest finds.. lol.. it also had a larder so the butler's pantry wasn't needed for storage.
The fireproof box is called a deed box, I have one too but mine is a great deal smaller. The lamp is beautiful and will look stunning with a clear filament bulb in. You bought so many cool finds and I look forward to spotting them around your beautiful home xx

My guess for your wooden object is that it is the mold for sand casting a cast iron grate. With the sides attached it would be filled with casting sand, a top attached and flipped over. The wooden mold would be removed and molten iron would be poured in to the form.

Watching your channel is a soothing to me as watching the Great British bake Off. And since you're adding things to your apothecary I want you to know that I have a cool trick that works every time. Instead of filling your bottles with dyed liquid which eventually will create a layer of sediment when the die separates out, fill your containers with homemade slime. The color is vibrant anyone who picks it up is super horrified by how it moves, and if it dries out completely it's still looks bizarre which is a selling point!

OMG This was a video I didn't know I needed. It's been 2 years since I've been able to go 'junking' with my aunt (her word for thrifting lol) and this just gave me so many feels. Those amazing arched wooden frames in the 3rd place looked so whimsical! I love cottage country ontario for its junking treasures :P
It’s always the old Apothecary Bottles for me. It comes with years of work in a Compounding Pharmacy. Check your local Rx for discarded Amber bottles. 👍🏽
Oh, I ADORE all of those bottles and would've picked them all up, too. I love collecting different colored and uniquely shaped bottles. Absolutely love the book & all the lil copper pieces for the kitchen, too. Idk what the mystery item could be, but I'm excited to see how you style it bc you never disappoint ♥️♥️
You can find cool ephemera online for your bottles. I purchased some extremely old unused medicine labels to use. I do mixed art, and paint, among other things. The blue bottles are pretty old too.
Love the liqueur bottle though I hate that you plan to ditch the crown top, it's very fairytale. And, the bitters bottle is AWESOME. The book is a great find.
I Like the idea of the "Crown on Top the Bottle, as well ,as that' Speaks" English Royalty @ the House of England" ... please Don't remove it !!! That's so Cool !!
If you're going to use the fireproof heavy black box for important, hard-or-impossible-to-replace documents, please make sure they are sealed in something waterproof too! If they're protected from a fire but then not protected from whatever is used to put the fire out, what is the point? x'D You might also be able to DIY your own rubbery seal for the box itself. It looks like it latches pretty tight, but "pretty tight" and "waterproof" are very different things when it comes to important docs. That said, the easier solution is just to use storage bags like ziploc, which as a bonus can be used to group like documents (and labeled, of course).
So interesting. Love the medical book. What a find! I have an old family cookbook with recipes from the 60s. So different from todays recipes. Also an older one from my grandmother in German. Can’t read it but I’ll never get rid of it.
What great finds you purchased at the thrift store love the bottles book which gives you natural remedies which we should live by I think was your best find
@@DIYDanie btw … you’ve now inspired me to go to a flea market tomorrow and look for items for my wellness studio. I love all the stuff you got. I personally would leave the crown top on that forbidden fruit bottle, it adds to the witchy vibe.
Great finds!!! Favorite item: copper stuff (maybe -- but liked it all). That last heavy thingy would make a great top to a bench. You've got a great eye for Danie Things -- they all look like stuff Danie would buy. Thanks for this diversion = loved it. :)
The only thing I can think off is that last piece was a lid for a handmade trunk. They used heavier lids to protect the storing of tools and weapons. The “slats” could be a way of preventing the item from being used as a seat. Are there and holes to suggest it once had hinges or a lock? If it was made for a home and not travel the lids wouldn’t necessarily need to be attached to the bottom piece. But the labeling confounds me. They did often label boxes in the military but then this wouldn’t be handmade. At first I thought it was a printers storage system but there would be no reason to make it so heavy. Are there any nails that can help you date it? Either way you got some really unusual and very cool items. Please do potion mixing, and I need advice from the book for sinusitis. I’m sure the cure would work! 😁💕
Omg!! I make my own potions for decorations too. As soon as I saw that claw bottle I went looking and one is now one the way to me as I type. Thanks so much for sharing your finds. Please do a potions/apothecary video!!💚
Thanks for this awesome video !! I love pretty much everything you picked and it was so pleasant to watch. 😍 (the book is just incredibly beautiful 🤩) Please do more of these if you feel like it ! And if you want to show us how to clean the copper pieces without damaging them, that would be interesting as well ! 😊

My guess for your wooden object is that it is the mold for sand casting a cast iron grate. With the sides attached it would be filled with casting sand, a top attached and flipped over. The wooden mold would be removed and molten iron would be poured in to the form.
Ok I really want that book...and that cute little bitters bottle! Also basically everything you find I love ❤
She takes off the dogie's head and says: "Adorable"
But, seriously now... That first place Orono was awesome! Actually, all of them were awesome. Your finds were out of this world!!!! 💖
I love this video! Would love more of this antique shopping/thrifting content. 'The Cottage Physician' is truly the perfect book for your apothecary. And I am super excited for potion brewing!
Wow, I just love everything you bought for your home. It’s all unique in its own way. I have to say my faves are the book, and the blue lamp, but it’s all fantastic. Hopefully you do a video showing us how you style each treasure. See you next Saturday. TFS😊😊
I have a “ small” collection of the cast iron banks, a Santa, a mailbox, an owl, a few dogs and cats, a clown that sits on top of a circus ball (creepy!) a snowman. The list goes on, but I love them. Great video, love going to antique/thrift stores.
I love the little blue plate. I think it’s a plate for salt. Burslem is where my English ancestors worked in the potteries. Total haul envy!
Salt used to be SO expensive that having a small dish of it on the table was a mark of wealth !
Man, I haven't been to Primitive Design in years. So fun watching you explore the areas I grew up in 🥰
Haha same here! Still have a wooden box in my bathroom from Primitives!
Totally nerding out cause your local and I've been to all those places and love them . There also is old church in fraserville that was converted to a antique shop. If you need a break from your place feel free to fix my place up 😆
Love EVERYTHING you found! And that book! OMG is everything! Can’t wait to see how you style them and that video on the potion’s bottles 😉
I always look forward to a quiet tea and Danie moment Saturday mornings. Thank you for your time and effort!
That first piece reminds me of the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, lol. Love it!
Love the bottles you found and love the medicine book, but my favorite is probably the blue lamp! That is so pretty! If I go looking these days, it is for things like oil lamps, bread boxes, manual kitchen gadgets and textiles. Glad you took a break and got to enjoy the shopping! Will love seeing how you style things.

This was such an incredibly cool video, I loved every second of it! The editing of the first antique market was just superior!!
Love your videos. I live in England and we're not that posh 😂 we pronounce it staf-erd-sheer even though it's written Staffordshire 😆 don't even get me started on places like postwick 🤣🤦♀️
Danie what a great video and from the comments you have bought back a lot of memories for people . I love that you find joy in preloaded items . Thankyou for sharing ps I would have bought the rose water bottle too it’s lovely 😊
Should say preloved 😜
I love 💕 the antiquing. Awesome job. I’m also curious about the last item. Hopefully you update us when you find out what it is.
Your editing is perfection.
I love vintage shopping too. My favs are fluffy the little bank and the tiny picture. Things that have a story are my weakness.
Loved all your finds but I'm an old book kinda gal so that was my fav. Very curious about the big wood item.
The blue bottles are called Colbalt blue they are colored that way were the liquid medicine or to tire will last longer due to light exposure
You can find cool ephemera online for your bottles. I purchased some extremely old unused medicine labels to use. I do mixed art, and paint, among other things. The blue bottles are pretty old too.
Yes on the bottle episode! Enjoyed going along with you and all your choices! 😍😍😍😍
@@sandieedward8214 Agree😃💕
The thrill of the hunt. Everything is so special that you found, and every one of them tells a story. Great video!
I love you!! That’s the best coffee hack EVER!! I can’t believe I never thought of that! 💕 now to watch the rest of the video!
game changer FOR SURE
@@DIYDanie btw … you’ve now inspired me to go to a flea market tomorrow and look for items for my wellness studio. I love all the stuff you got. I personally would leave the crown top on that forbidden fruit bottle, it adds to the witchy vibe.
You can buy a bag of assorted corks to re-cork your bottles. I believe they sell them at Hobby lobby
I love the apothecary items! Can't wait to see them styled
Love your little doggy bank. I picked up a brass pig just like it at a flea market a few years back. It still makes me smile every time I look at it.
This exactly the type of shop with me video I love, snippets of your search with the focus on the haul!
Great finds.
You found some cool stuff. I love the bottles you found. Keep the crown on the bottle. That makes it in my opinion.
😍 (the book is just incredibly beautiful 🤩)
Please do more of these if you feel like it ! And if you want to show us how to clean the copper pieces without damaging them, that would be interesting as well ! 😊
The crown topped bottle, is an old Chambord liqueur bottle. I used to use the crowns as Barbie Doll accessories
thats so smart! genius!
Lv the crown as is. I would leave it on if it was me.
LOVED this video - please do more like this! You had some seriously great finds!
That book!!! Im an old book lover as well. Found some great late 1800s classics on accedent in my smqll town for 5 bucks each. But they are hard to come by here in eastern NC. I also love old bottles and have filled and sealed some with dried herbs and flowers. For my cabnet of curiosities.
I have one of the metal goats. It’s definitely not an antique from where I bought it but it sure is a fun piece for my yard.
Fun I have some old bottles also, thanks for taking us along !!!
You’re funny. Love watching you videos 👍🏼
