Half an inch is double the seamline that is needed. Quarter inch is actually more than you need. 3/8 isspot on.you need to clip the curve to allow the seam to lay better.
Thank you. My videos are always a suggestion. This method has worked perfect for me and others who have tried it. I do appreciate your input. Of course, there is no right or wrong. Thank you for watching my video. Happy Sewing.
Have you tried glue instead of basting? I know everyone has their own preference but I just started English paper piecing and had in mind that I was going to baste all my pieces…. That was until I tried the glue and oh my word! So nice, and soo quick! Also thanks for the tip on cutting curved pieces on the bias! Definitely would have thought of that until it was too late lol
I appreciate your input, however, I really do not want glue on any of my projects. I love hand basting and sewing… that is the whole reason that I do EPP. ❤️ Everyone has their own method…. I am just sharing mine. Happy Sewing!
You certainly could try. I usually cut several layers of fabric at a time... never tried several layers with the pinking shears. If you try it, please let me know how it works. I just show in my videos how I do things. I encourage you to try many different methods until you find what is right for you. Happy Sewing!
It really didn’t take me any longer than basting a hexie... with the Apple core you could do this shape much larger and it would still take about the same amount of time to baste, but your project would finish faster. Happy Sewing!
Thank you i really love how you always sew it in front of us and it really helps and another new shape to try thank you
I am glad it is helpful! I figure it is more important to see my hands than my face. 😃
Just what I was looking for. Thank you!
@@juneroberts5305 I am so glad!!!😀
Thank you for this video. I just came across it. It was a wow effect to see how the sides of the shape smooth out with your zig zag method.
I am glad it was helpful for you!!! I do appreciate it! If you are on Facebook, please find my group and join us there as well. Happy Sewing!

This was very helpful!!!
Is there a reason you cut them out and then trimmed with pinking shears? Could you just cut them out initially with the pinks?

Have you ever done clamshells?
I have not… I will add that to my list 😍
Wow that’s a lot of work for one piece, but I guess it’s all about the process, right!
