You were on my mind about 4 hours ago. I passed thru your neck of the woods on my way to Hunting Island.

I'm down to 1 of the dark stout beers left from my first batch. Yesterday I brewed a batch of amber beer for the summer. It's bubbling away. Hunting Island is our favorite beach. We like to stay in the bed and breakfasts in nearby Beaufort. Have fun.....it's a photographer's paradise.

Here's a video I made for Wanda for her 70th birthday. You might be able to watch it. ruclips.net/video/r1X7yMCivnE/видео.html

I'm in a similar situation. I bought my first 2000 in 1979 just after I graduated from high school. It has a fine nib but for someone taking notes in school on fine ruled paper even that was bit thick. That pen also ran on the dry side and neither the person at the store that was familiar with Lamy pens nor I could get it to work right. We finally sent it back and Lamy replaced the feed, no problems since. I just ordered my 2nd pen, an EF this time. I know I could just replace the nib but I don't really like taking that old pen out of the house anymore - I've hung onto it for 45 years and I don't want to lose it now.

I've found that the Japanese F/M nib suites my handwriting the best. It takes a while to find the nib that works the best for you.

I’m relatively new to the world of fountain pens and the one constant seems to be; it’s all in the nibs. I’ve heard of people paying thousands for a pen only to have to send the nib out for work. I’ve heard stories about the inexpensive Chinese Montblanc knockoffs Jinhao that are perfectly tuned right out of the box for less than $5 on Aliexpress. I guess the moral of the story is to try before you spend hundreds of dollars if at all possible. Otherwise stick with the Chinese knockoffs. Also, the JinHao version of the LAMY 2000, sans the hooded nib, is the JinHao X80. Great review, thank you! I’m waiting on my LAMY 2000 as we speak and I can’t wait. ❤

Did you get the real Lamy 2000, or opt for the Chinese version? I have a review of the Chinese version of the Lamy Safari, but the plastic cracked after some use.

@@ima4ster I got the real LAMY 2000, but I have a bunch of different JinHao pens coming soon. One of them is a 2000 knockoff. I’m a little nervous to see how they stack up against each other. lol.

Lamy’s extra-fine is really a fine. Their medium is a broad, and so on.

I continue to use this pen as my favorite daily writer. I need to use other pens in my collection more!

I have a L2K in EF. I also have the jinhao 80 and i put a Lamy z50 M nib in it. I tend to use this modified Jinhao pen more from the past 1 year.
For me the hooded nib and its slippery nature are negatives of L2K.
On contrary i dont find these negatives in the modified Jinhao 80

My EF Lamy continues to impress me with its writing ability in my hand. I use it often. The snap-on cap makes it a great daily note-taker for me.

I love my extra-fine Lamy 2000. You are right. Medium nibs are just sloppy.

I know. Some people like the character that they can get in shading inks with broader nibs. I just think it looks sloppy. I prefer a medium-fine in a Sailor and an extra fine in this Lamy 2000.

Yes, you got lucky. VERY lucky. Still not a true XF in my opinion.
