You've come this far without roadwalking, it will be hard to start now. Lockett Meadow is the place to thoroughly enjoy the best part of the San Francisco Peaks. Camp and climb the peaks from the inner basin.
The "three people" actually bailed part way through the storm that you zeroed in Payson (some or most made up those miles), and all except one bailed the storm that you bailed/zeroed in Flag (you went back to hike those miles). Other hikers were at the head of all those storms and had to take shortcuts, alternates, or hitch around the peak snow levels/storms. They made it to the northern terminus despite the freak weather systems that went through the southwest and most of the U.S. This was a challenging Spring hiking season! Oh, and bring on the heat for those who started in late March and April!
There's a "Rocket-Hikes" listed on the AZT water map all the way at South Kaibab on the South Rim back on April 4. I'm assuming that was her. They must have been flying.
That part of the trail is usually chock full of mountain bikers. The last time I was there I literally spent more time jumping out of the trail than I did actual hiking.
rough day. creepy area. Don’t like to see the pipes coming out of the ground and near it a dome rise to the ground. like some recluse secrete hide for doing no good. Speaking of good, thanks for picking up trail drinking bottle.
Yes! This is what I have been waiting for! Man, I thought that spring was going to be a lot more promising. So good to know, thanks.
Karma has a funny way of catching up to you with all kinds of surprises.
Haha...time for slice of apple pie. Great rationalization given. I agree, never a wrong time to eat pie hiking. Looked good.
When you were looking at that sludge, I couldn't help thinking, just melt some snow! I'm glad you found the pipe!

You finally met Rocket! I've been waiting for this crossover moment since you both started posting videos.

Rocket is one of my favorite youtubers. Luv her!
I can see that spring west of the climbing switchbacks. I wonder why it's not included on the AZT water map online. Good use of local water sources!
Need to stay on established trails.

"only if you deserve punishment for something really bad." Love it! :D
Julia Sheehan “Rocket” started the same day as you
She signed right under you on her day 1 video.
You earned that pie and the big steps in the snow was Bigfoot on snow shoes.
Don't you have a spade? The side of the spade might have turned the nut (most of them have screwdriver slots) bet you could have MacGyvered it.
I’m surprised you waited that long to eat the pie. Ha! I don’t think I could have waited that long
Will Tina be doing the Colorado trail when she comes?

How about a sock update, please.
Why not just melt the snow and filter it for drinking water?
I doubt you did anything bad to deserve the difficulty. You just started too early.
