Hi Radionut - Yup the box is big and in the days it was built they were not thinking miniature. It was more like - how can we make this to work and last a very long time. It is a pleasure to have some of these old hamradio rigs even though I don,t get to use them much. Dave KK4WW at N4USA Floyd Virginia
Fantastic Video. I have been really eyeballing one of these link coupled tuners for quite some time. I think I am going to buy one just as soon as I see one available for a decent price. They really look nice. I love the old look of them very much. I am 35 years old and really appreciate relics that outperform the new fancy stuff.
+Eric Owens Hi Eric - Glad you like the video - I have this old tuner and small one as well. I don't use them. I see you are 35 - I have been ham radio operator for 61 years. www.kk4ww.com www.n4usa.com bugbookmuseum.blogspot.com/2015/08/bugbook-computer-museum-curator-david.html 73 Dave KK4WW
Hello, nice video. I respectfully suggest that you may want to take down the link to a manual. Tested on 2/1/2022 that link appears to be dead. In fact the N6WK Domain appears to be for sale. Best wishes and 73.
Just two comments to add. 1. the matchbox uses a dual differential capacitor and 2. the 275 watt version will handed about 1 kw load and the kw version will take 3 kw. jack, K8MNG

I've got a question and if anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. So I just purchased one of these bad boys yet I've not put it to use yet as my new shack is in the process of getting some finishing touches. It came with the directional coupler and luckily is clean and unmodified. While tuning and reading SWR is a simple and straightforward process, I'm unsure how to get the meter to read relative power output. I've read the manual numerous times and it mentions the meter is capable of reading power output but doesn't mention how. So my question is how do I set up the Matchbox to read relative power output? I do have a Bird 43P which I'll probably just end up using it instead, though I prefer not to keep it in-line as I use it for other projects. I guess my next option would be to use the Bird and mess around with the Matchbox until they're both giving me the same reading. But in the meantime if anyone could answer my question I would greatly appreciate it. de KC3FNG
