You've started right...the prayer of mercy is so powerful, you can stay on it and watch God begin to turn things around and purge you and change your appetite to begin to detest sin and love righteousness, at that point the struggle is over
My sister confess all your sins one by one to Christ. Anyone you forget to confess tell God you're still sorry and you will no longer continue sinning. Ask the blood of Jesus to set you free from your sin. DECLARE that Christ is Lord over your life.
So I know that sin has power to hold you down but please know that God is only concerned with your now-present and future.
It is about what you will do today and what you are going to do tomorrow.
What you did yesterday and the past doesn’t really matter to God.
Free yourself and know that God does not judge you, He is very much concerned about you now.
Your part is to only decide strongly to change.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? Christ is the one who died, and beyond that, who was raised again and who is at the right hand of God, who also is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
It is the Holy spirit that convict us to realize how sinful we are, and it leads us to seek for repentance thus strengthening our faith and love to God
