    I've been an IELTS teacher for a number of years now, and I really like the PPF method. And I agree with everything you say here; however, I just went to a two day seminar by the British Council and I specifically asked about the need to follow the dot points. The trainer, a former examiner himself, was adamant that you had to address the dot points in your response. However, in this video Alex says--and I might add that I have heard from another former examiner who agrees with Alex--that the dot points do not matter as long as you address the topic. So as a teacher, I'm still slightly confused. Cheers though, keep up the good work.

    • @E2IELTS
      @E2IELTS  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks for sharing. Interesting to hear! In terms of scoring, addressing the dot points is not part of it. But from the test writers’ view, I guess they would expect that their dot points provide a good framework to present a 2-minute talk. And they do! PPF is just another way to approach it - and provides a little security blanket for those feeling stressed or frozen in the exam. Whatever the strategy, the test is assessing language skills so these are important beyond everything else. 👍 What are your thoughts?

    • @wayneteacher

      @@E2IELTS agreed. I think PPF actually forces the speaker to use a good grammatical range.

    What would you do if the topic in 2nd part involves a timeline in it? Like 'Speak about an exercise you would like to do in the future?' How to use PPF for such kind of topics?

    • @E2IELTS
      @E2IELTS  5 лет назад +9

      I’d start like this:
      I’m going to tell you about an exercise I’d like to do in future. Let me start by saying that I’ve always been a pretty active person. Even when I was a little kid, I used to blah blah blah. Recently I started swimming, which I love because blah blah. But anyway, in future, what I’d like to take up is blah blah blah.’
      🤗👍
      What would you say?

    Hello, I'm a bit confused about Jay's second response to the task "describe a movie you enjoyed". The phrase "a movie" suggest one movie, but Jay went ahead d to describe two different movie; is this acceptable?
