You search for it for a few days, listening to every radio station on the dial. you obsess over it. it burns a hole into your mind. you hear that one riff over and over in your head, when you are awake, going to sleep, while you're trying to work, in the shower. You ask your friends about it, you hum the tune, but they have no idea what you're talking about. Eventually, the obsession dies out. You give up. You forget about it, and move on. You listen to other things. It doesn't really matter anymore, like a dream that was so real but upon waking it begins to fade away. You know you had it, but too much is missing. It's useless to try to remember. Then, WHAM! out of nowhere, there it is in all of its glory. You know the band! You know the song! You find a copy and play it over and over again, reveling in the awesomeness.. It's THE song, the only song. But now you've played it too much. It slowly loses its significance. You play it a few times more, hoping to hang on to the dream. Its hold on you slips. But it no longer has meaning. It's grown cold. You're having an emotional hangover. You don't even want to hear it anymore. It's a useless burned out husk. You've killed it. You killed the music. You bastard.
