It's bittersweet listening to this. It's so beautiful, but stuff Deaner never wanted to see the light of day. They had to steal this tape from his car and then the guy traded it away.

Musicians are a weird bunch. Why would anyone not want these songs to be heard...or not record studio versions for that matter? Some really good stuff. Perhaps because some of it is so serious? Hard to think of a band as diverse as Ween getting pigeonholed, but they kind of were.
@ The cool thing about being a musician is what your create belongs to YOU. You can hold/hear/look at it and know that you were the genesis of it all. Being in a band that has a cult following, I'm sure he RARELY gets to keep that feeling going as it is released to his fans. I totally understand wanting to have something that wasn't for anyone else but yourself...but no. Leave it to fanatics to invade....truly bummer.
All hail the mighty boognish shining his brown light down on us mortals. He will lead Mickey and Aaron back to the brown path, we just need patience. Love it
@@AllofJudeawell at the time i wrote this comment i wasn't as well versed in Ween as i am now. I know all the songs you mention. And yes they are beautiful.
@@thehonorablereverendaddiso1943 sorry to hear but you have all the memories still. I miss my grandparents and great uncle etc. They were the generation going to LBI since the 1940s after WW2. LBI is an amazing place. Been there every summer from baby to now at 41yrs. There is a special feeling being there. It is the best of NJ beaches! Great fishing for Mickey! Love you guys! Best band post Zappa.
Happy Birthday to Deaner. Mix of sun and clouds this sunday in phila. then a down the shore style storm, the eagles won and a crisp fall night is setting in…
I love you. Thank you for posting this. Wash me is stunning. I’m inspired now! My songs on my channel are very ween influenced. Ween is the best ever period!
@@BockwinkleBNo doubt mang, twas a great place for like-minded freaks, laughs, music sharing and plenty of twisted topics... Not for the thin skinned tweaker or weak of heart though, haha.
As others have stated, the story is that this demo tape was stolen from Deaner's car and the band did not want it publicly released. I think there is some irony in the fact that we love the band so much that we can't respect their wishes. This has to be shared! (The first thing I did upon discovering it was rip a copy from RUclips to my computer). Thanks for posting this, Gaf Respih. And thanks to the boys for somehow being so brown that the Boognish decided to come upon them. wEEn have brought so much joy into my life over the past 25 years or so.
Awesome!! Thanks for posting. I thought I had every album and demo of theirs. When What.CD was around they didn't even have this. After the Caesar (Quebec) demos came out I figured I wasn't going to hear anymore great originals... wrong!
some of these unreleased tracks are better than songs from their released albums. wash me down is excellent. also i love the lo fi demo sound. i personally dont care for over produced sound in general.
Think of how amazing Bananas and Blow turned out once they polished it in the studio. IMAGINE IF THEY DID THE SAME FOR ALL THESE TRACKS!!! I mean how do you explain the very underwhelming La Cucaracha when songs like this exist? I love Ween but sometimes I feel like they can't get out of their own way.
it was actually called the Baroque Jam until right, right before WP came out. there are actually unmastered promo copies of WP out there that still have it listed as that.
Seth Aubuchon What is this stamina you are referring to? Is this a demo tape or are you just complimenting dean and gene on their amazing stamina while playing?

wash me down might be the greatest thing i've ever heard
I cried at "take it Deaner"
look at the sky while listening to it.
Woah! I'd no idea that this existed! I can't wait to take a listen!
It’s one of their finest songs
It's surprisingly pretty
wash me down is seriously beautiful.
Every time I think I can't possibly love these guys more, I hear something like Wash Me Down and my heart just aches with love.
Indeed
Come on baby ❤
Same. Except the song on this album that did it for me was Put Your Boobs On
This collection of demos sequences together works as an album, right alongside their best stuff. That, to me, is a testament to the greatness of Ween

@ I'm sure Deaner has/had his reasons. I respect it, but I'm also glad to be hearing the demos.
nolan sage Mickey never liked “archival releases” because he feels its a way for a band to sell out.
@@jamlive6650 thats why he released the quebec demos without asking gener

"I got a good friend, knows to get the good peach pie." This song should have been on Mollusk
As long as I've been a Ween-er (93) ive never heard this. What a joyous day!!!!!!!

These outtakes/demos are from the White Pepper era, when Ween were at their most Beatley, and it’s quite apparent. *chef’s kiss*
The Belvedine is fucking great
I love how Wash Me Down is the most replayed song here, as it should.

White Pepper should have been a double album. Life is cruel.
Anyone else seriously dig this version of the Grobe?
Better than The Beatles.
Not even close.
Nope
fuck yeah
Much better
Ween are my favourite band but just no
The guitar on The Grobe is so crunchy and dirty. Thank you Deaner.
The Beatles you take is equal to the Ween you make
