Suggestion: For the very first chord, try simply fretting the G string, 3rd fret, all other strings open (and an upstroke first). Then slide up to resolve it in this shape: 466400 This gives it more of that classic Marr chime... Thanks for your work on this.🎉
Thanks Modfather, will give it a try. And thanks for all your other work, found it very useful over the years. Your lesson on That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore was what persuaded me to give Johnny tunes a go when I thought they were an unachievable dream.
@hicksy0815 I suppose it's something of a small world out there with respect to being a Johnny Marr/Smiths fan. So glad to have been helpful earlier on. Keep up the good work, man. 😎
Ah you're a legend. Love when I come across a Smiths/Marr focused channel with some tutorials thrown in. Thanks very much. Got a lesson for Last night I dreamt by any chance?
I really didn't want to watch it tbh as I've built up a good few of the parts over the months and I have a few gaps to fill but curiosity got the better of me! Great job, really, and your approach of sorting chords first especially for the break. 👏 👏 👏 Can I ask what delay you use please?
For the video I was using the GT100 delay, the setting with two delays in parallel, Edge style with one on quarter notes and one on dotted eighths. Thought it worked quite well for this, but I'm sure a single delay would work just as well. I've recently bought a Source Audio Collider and the delays in that are really good. I like the way you can A/B the stereo delays to different channels/amps (haven't found a way to do that on the GT100), getting the full Edge sound and with delay being such a factor in JM's current sound mucking around with these settings gives some nice sounds that work for his music.
@@hicksy0815 thanks, I was just googling and reading a review on the GT100, I like the idea of collecting pedals but a multi unit like the GT would probably the more sensible option for me to give me more to play with across all effects. Thanks for the reply 👍
@@lauriestevenson4183 can very much recommend the GT100. Amazing value for money considering what is crammed in there. The only thing I need something else for is massive reverb/shimmery shoegazey tones.
Did you come across this in my channel yet? ruclips.net/video/tx3GFU1NVNg/видео.html Hopefully should go a long way to showing the basics. If anything not clear let me know.
Have seen this live 4 times and I think you have it spot on, Marr is a melodic genius
Breakdown just gives me goosebumps. I know what I'll be doing over Christmas now, thanks mate.
Hope it turns out alright.

Thanks for this! Any chance of your Well I Wonder been tabbed? Or a Some Girls tutorial 😀
Should be able to do Well I Wonder. Another one that sends you off into a trance. JM should get into marketing musical legal highs....!
Excellent!
Brilliant
Thank you so much for going to the bother of doing this. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
No problem at all, hope it turns out ok!
I second this gratitude. Your a legend mate taken you time to share this breakdown from an amazing song. Thank you 👍🏼
