  • Beverley Meldrum tells us about how she creates her jewellery and artworks using dried kelp. Find out more about this remarkable medium and how Beverley abides by the philosophy ‘If you really want someone to see the beauty in something, it’s got to mean something.'
Beverley Meldrum is Wirangu (SA) through her father’s side of the family. Beverley was born in South Australia and moved to the Mornington Peninsula thirty years ago.
After learning about kelp from Aunty Nannette at Baluk Arts, Beverley became fascinated with the medium. In her current exhibition at MPRG she has a selection of stunning jewellery that highlight the unique forms of dried kelp.
Beverley was recently a finalist in the 2022 Victorian Craft Awards and awarded the Encouragement Award supported by the Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society for her Kelp necklace.
