    Hi everyone! Which other scene from this movie would you like to see?

  • @bizzyg5751
    @bizzyg5751 Год назад +1525

    In most movies children are coddled and protected, so adults are usually sacrificed to protect them so they survive to the end. This scene made the movie real. You foul up, you die. Three innocent mistakes were made by three different people, and it cost the entire family dearly. It told us that no one's effing around.

    • @yevgeniyaleshchenko849
      @yevgeniyaleshchenko849 10 месяцев назад +123

      Agree but I would say there were more than three mistakes. First, the father leaves the batteries in the plain sight, second, adults walk out first and leave kids without supervision, third, the sister gives him the toy (thus showing they can bypass the rules) and again leaves him without supervision, fourth, the child decides to take the batteries, fifth, they leave him walking the last in their formation - all of it was one big mistake, honestly...

    • @Thescott16
      @Thescott16 10 месяцев назад +60

      4 mistakes.
      Neither of the kids listened to their parents; the girl went against her parent's wishes by giving her brother the toy anyways, and the boy put the batteries in despite being told it's too loud.
      Meanwhile *both* parents fucked up by not making sure the kids left the toy behind.

    • @gutgolf74

      Well, the father DOES sacrifice himself at the end, so your point is...

      @@yevgeniyaleshchenko849Regarding the second mistake, I think the parents decided to walk out first to make sure the path is quiet/smooth enough not to catch unnecessary attention.. If by any chance they failed to keep quiet, both adults would be gone in mere seconds since they are strategically placed at the front..

    I think this scene established the tone of this world really well. Most of it is silent and when there is something about to make noise it is made to feel threatening. And then when there is the loud noise of the toy, we feel a sense of panic. I think it also stresses the “survival of the fittest” aspect of the movie. Kids are dumb and he knew better but he was a kid and that unfortunately meant that he didn’t have much of a chance surviving for that long. It also kind of introduces the characters and their personalities just by the way they react to this tragedy. This movie is crazy good dude

      Or if you want to get conspiratorial, Hollywood wants to induce in the wider population a sense of learned stupidity. Thus making it easier to manipulate people, thus making it easier for them. Psychological flashbangs constantly being hurled at people.
      Why do you think women in brothels are drugged? Less chance of escaping, and even if they do they're not likely to be believed.
      But you do have to ask how something like this could be overlooked in the movie. I mean this is what we see in the actual movie, so they've gone over everything dozens of times before saying, 'yeah, let's go with this'. Makes you wonder.

    It’s such a great opening because it was foreshadowing the little boys death. From him drawing the rocket on the ground, telling his sister that “it’s how they’ll get away” to almost dropping the toy from the shelf… all signs were pointing to his inevitable end, we just didn’t know it. When witnessing his death, and I think I can speak for most, that we knew this little boy would have never been able to survive this horrific world. It was bound to happen at some point, and it happened right in the very beginning. It’s incredibly sad, but also genius writing.

    Reality. The sister got him killed. The dad had set that aside. If the daughter doesn't give the toy back to the boy once the parents backs are turned, the boy probably doesn't pick it and the batteries back up. That said parents should know when they tell a small child no regarding a toy they need to usher the kid out and make sure he doesn't pick it back up once your back is turned. That said you don't expect your teenage daughter to do that. You'd think after surviving in that world a bit that she would be mature enough to understand her little brother can't have a noise making toy even if the batteries are removed as he might find batteries at some point.

This is why as odd as this may sound to some, I don't sugar coat it whenever we have drills. Especially soft or hard lockdown drills. I tell them it is just practice, but I tell them how important it is to keep completely quiet. And they will usually ask why. And then I will tell them even though it is just for practice, if it was real we would need to be completely quiet because we could get hurt otherwise. 🤷‍♀️

    If this family was being truly careful, that little boy wouldn’t have been left to walk home at the tail end of the group, out of sight of the adults. Little kids are incompatible with absolute silence. And then the parents conceive another child and expect to successfully muffle the sounds of an infant? Even if their scheme could work, how were they going to get the oxygen tank refilled? Strange writing choices. It’s still a good sci-fi movie, but it could have been even better with fewer plot holes.
