In this video, Professor Thorsby gives a summary of Kant's Epsietmology: Transcendenatl Idealism. Please watch Henry Markram's TED Talk prior to watching this video.
This is about the 10th video on Kant I've watched and the first one after which I felt like I got it. Prof. Thorsby makes me wish I had majored in philosophy rather than economics. Thank you so much for your classes and I look forward to watching more.
Great video. Very clear. One question I have; Did Kant maintain that the synthetic a priori categories were necessary/fundamental for all experiencing beings, or did he think that there could be beings whose minds organise reality in fundamentally different ways thus making the categories contingent?
Thank you for a very good overview of many basic concepts and judgments of CRITIQUE OF PURE REASON. A minor point: I do not think what you said about the given accurately reflects ",the given" in some 20th century Philosophy.
An absolute GOAT when it comes to philosophy, love the lectures.
