I have a friend that has a flock of roosters! She keeps them separate from her hens and they get along fine. It really is good to have at least one to protect your hens and be able to hatch your own chicks. He got very quiet after you discussed what his future entailed.
When I cook rice it is one cup of rice to two cups of water, bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, simmer covered 20 minutes. Comes out great. Yours looked beautiful.
Hi Ron and Justine, I worked at a gift boutique store that sold Caswell and Massey products and my daughter absolutely loves the Elixir of Love... According to the sales rep she told me that it was the most desired fragrance from your time period..! I still have a bottle of the fragrance only to be worn on special occasions... :)
Happy Friday, everybody! This is gonna be a good one! I love curry and I really love catfish! The thought of combining the two sounds too good to be true! 😋 I can't wait to catch this in a bit! I hope everyone has had a most enjoyable week so far! Cheers! 😃
Hey I don't know if y'all know this since I haven't heard it discussed on the channel yet, but you're literally on top of the X marks the spot between St. Genevieve and Cape Girardeau where the 2017 and 2024 total solar eclipse paths cross the country. It also looks like you are in the single most favorable spot in the country, with the possible exception of Vermont and Maine in terms of cloudless skies for viewing next week's total eclipse. The last total eclipse in your area before 2017 was almost 600 years ago! You guys should do a live stream or something!
You two are so fun to watch! Laughed out loud when Ron hollered at the rooster. Also very proud of Ron, as he bravely ate 2 bites of fish! 🐟 Love both of your channels 💜
Oooh, the frustration of _almost_ landing that fish! I laughed because I could sympathize with Ron. BTW - For a few minutes, I thought that crowing was coming from my neighbor's rooster. You're going to call me crazy, but after living in the city for decades and hearing loud car stereos and car alarms even late Sunday nights, a rooster's crowing is music to my ears.
Is it bad that when I'm scrolling through youtube to watch a chew & chat I love watching the seafood ones that make Ron squirm ;) Ya'll are lovely. Our next history adventure will be Ste Gen! Have already looked at Kandye's airbnb.
I loved every minute! Thank you, Justine and Ron for the guaranteed episode of fun. Should we call the rooster Stewie? I cannot wait to see wedding pics/videos and the house. Have a wonderful and blessed week you both! xoxo
Poor Ron! He could not fish. I bet is not easy. The curry fish looks great. Even Ron ate it. The rooster really listened to Ron after he yelled at him. About the soap has a lot of history and is great that it is still made. Interesting story about tulips. Beautiful flowers. Enjoy the solar eclipse on this coming Monday and don’t forget your solar glasses. Thank you Ron and Justine.
Its definitely tulip season here in Williamsburg Virginia! Everyone should see it once in their life. The photo you showed of the yard with tulips, I'm pretty sure is here in Williamsburg. Happy spring! 🐝🌸🐰🐥🌷
Might you consider doing a special feature on the eclipse set for Monday? Maybe you could do a feature about what people understood about annular eclipses in the 18th century?
If you are going to stew an old rooster, you should find a 200 year old recipe for Coq au Vin, literally rooster in wine. Maybe you could do a collab with French Cooking Academy.
Enjoyed the video. Ron Ron , I'm proud of you for at least taking 2 bites of fish! Hope you two get to 100 k soon for Frontier Patriot! Justine you look lovely ❤❤
It looks delicious, and I'd give you a 10, Justine. Come on, Ron, you needed to add a few more points for her efforts alone Sounds like your rooster's ready for the stew pot. 🐓🍲
I am related to the Randolphs of Virginia! Especially Edmund Randolph! I am a cousin! Then John Hampton Randolph moved to Louisiana and built the largest plantation home in The South called "Nottoway Plantation" Nottoway was a County in Virginia! You can go tour Nottoway Plantation today! :)
after WWII , my mothers had tulips in her flower beds - She used to order her new bulbs from a Netherland Tulip company (all I recall of when the bulbs arrived) - they were expensive so she used to take the bulbs up every Fall and replant them in the Spring after what they thought was the last frost of winter. - should hand them up in basement near the onion bulbs. They were very special to her!
So things just kind of worked out and I made this dish for dinner. It was really good. I’ve enjoyed these channels for a bit now, but I think I’m gonna have to try making more of the dishes from this channel.
This episode was awesome! I really appreciate everything both of you do. ❤ Have a beautiful wedding tomorrow. 🎉🎉 Love from the Southern California desert 🏜
I always love Ron's face when he's trying fish. He's definitely trying to maintain his decorum but you can tell he doesn't like fish even if you had the sound off.
I can't help but wonder what kind of rice takes an hour or half hour to cook 🤔. I cook non-instant rice on the stove all the time and it takes approx 15-20 mins.
The secret to rice cooking was taught to me by a very special Japanese friend. She said "rinse rice till the water is clear.Put in pot one part rice 2 parts water, and salt to taste.Bring to a boil, stir, turn heat down to low flame, for 15 minutes, then take off heat source, and keep covered for 10 minutes, then fluff and eat.I like to put a little chicken bullion in my rice water when cooking.
Another great video! Spring we are still waiting for in Western Massachusetts. We have snow, and we had an earthquake this morning! You two bring spring to us!
We had a neighbor who had what she called “a good rooster”. I didn’t know anything about chickens or roosters. His name was Rowdy and he was awesome. I miss him. Have you heard of a Tulipiere? They were invented back in Holland back in the 1600s. Tulips were considered very precious and thus expensive and valuable. They became a status symbol. The tulipiere was created with numerous holes or short spouts and a central water source and was used to display flowers.
Ron....fish....again...? I DESPISE FISH also. You are a sport....😮😂. Also....I was pleasantly surprised when I got my Samson Historical Catalog and you & Justine were ON THE COVER!!!!!.....😊😊
Just shout Kraft stove top stuffing at the rooster, he'll go into hiding 🤣🤣oh and Ron as a man who likes fishing i'd have stretched that tale about the one that got away by at least a foot lol.
Okay, didn't know he liked curry. So back to the Ye old cookbook this man doesn't like fish if it ain't fried. So glad you figured out the wedding dress problem. I love mint myself, lovely gift for your friend!!💕🌷🌷🌷Enjoy the rest of your spring days and best wishes on all your preparations for your house and the wedding and pioneer days. I pray the weather improves and is incredible for all the festivities.🌞🌞🌞😎😻
Thank you for the great video! I’ve been to the Netherlands near Amsterdam and there is a private park there that plants 7 million tulip bulbs - yes, SEVEN MILLION- every year which bloom in the spring. It’s called Keukenhof Gardens- you can Google it. They are only open while the tulips are blooming from late March to mid-May. I was fortunate enough to go there and see this incredible place for myself. They have over 800 different varieties and they plant, by hand, all 7 million bulbs in the fall. They plant them in all kinds of displays and there is usually a theme. This is their 75th anniversary. I have never seen anything like it. When I walked into the park I was just speechless. There were tulips in every color and pattern imaginable and unbelievable. If you ever have the opportunity to go there, I would highly recommend it. The Netherlands was where Tulipmania started and the crazy prices of the tulips you described in your video became a reality.
I love fish 🎣 and I love chicken and I love you guys! Wish I could afford the soap and I wish someone would sponsor you. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t but I think there’s a lack of appreciation for our history but I appreciate it, and I appreciate you guys!
I make rice in my electric rice cooker - maybe you can find a current bush near by? Anyway, I use 1/2 white, 1/4 brown, and 1/4 wild rice. It's wonderful and you can easily make in you little pot. Try that rice concoction - you'll like it. I use chicken broth instead of water - just adds to the goodness. I have a smaller rice cooker that I use for oatmeal - Original oats in 15 minutes to done. What are you serving at the wedding?
I had to log onto you tube on my phone to comment. (I’ve been watching on my tv while I eat supper) I started laughing so much when Ron got all winky winky about the ladies products 😂 hahah oh man… now I’m curious what they have. I guess I’ll have to take a look! I also hate seafood/ fish so I don’t know how you manage to eat this stuff and appreciate your efforts that much more 😆 Good luck with the last month before you’re married! I wish you guys the best!
I like the history of the tulip! The catfish and the side s looks delicious! I thought that it was quite comical when Ron made a face and got fustrated broke the fishing pole! Rebecca and David Back.
Catfish can be very good or rather muddy and strong tasting. It depends a lot on the waters they come from, also the size of the fish. Smaller fish between a couple of pounds up to around 10 lbs are usually milder tasting and fish caught in larger clearer bodies of water are generally better tasting.
The fishing at the beginning is very relatable 😆 I use curry powder in everything, It's just too good not to use and goes good with just about anything!
Bravo , Ron ! I don't think I would like boiled fish matter what was on it ! I bet curry powder would be great on fried cat fish ! I bet Mish - Mish would love the leftover fish ! Have a wonderful weekend ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Ron and Justine, my husband mike and I and our friends Crystal and Shane are coming for pioneer days in May, we rented out ms bettes place for the weekend! We'd love to get together and take you guys to dinner or something ❤ we're coming from Wisconsin
Feeding Ron fish again ? I don't know if I can watch🙈🙈🙈🙈😳😣. I'm going to fix some soup for my supper and I'll see you fixing it in a little bit, then we'll see. I've had a kinda tough week.Love you both.💕💕💕🌷🌷🌷
That curry looks yummy!! I'd just add some coconut milk (the canned stuff...NOT the refrigerated milk-alternative containers). P.S. I LOVE hearing your rooster crowing, but I imagine it must wear on you after awhile 😉
I read where roosters crow to indicate safety for their flock, to communicate their dominance, and to warn of danger. They're your very own alarm system. Guinea's are the best though. Plus they keep your yard free from ticks and fleas.
I'm so glad you solved your dress problem. I hope you have no worries come wedding day and have a fantastic wedding. I also love the dress you are wearing in this video. The blue and white looks striking. Back in college we made a poor man's curry which was tuna curry. It was pretty good!
As a Canadian of Irish and English descent, I really love curry. Any time I find myself in Dubai, I head over to the spice souk. They have a fantastic variety of spices to make customized curries. Just tell the guy how hot and what flavours you like, and he will create the ideal curry. It will be in layers, so when you get home with it you have to shake it up to mix it before you use it. I have never had catfish but there are tons of other white fish I like, halibut, for instance. I would add the lemon or lime for sure and ever since I married my wife who is from the Philippines, I love adding coconut milk. Adds an amazing flavour and helps to thicken the stew a bit too. This was a great episode!

Making chicks is really the only thing roosters are good for!
Ok, yelling at the rooster was HILARIOUS 😂
I'm glad that Ron tries the things he wouldn't normally eat.❤😊❤
When I cook rice it is one cup of rice to two cups of water, bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, simmer covered 20 minutes. Comes out great. Yours looked beautiful.
I love how Justine's thank you gifts to her friend Anne are homemade. That tub of parsley is fantastic 😍

I'm so excited for the both of you.❣️ And let's not forget about Mish Mish..🐾🐾
I loved every minute! Thank you, Justine and Ron for the guaranteed episode of fun. Should we call the rooster Stewie? I cannot wait to see wedding pics/videos and the house. Have a wonderful and blessed week you both! xoxo
The government needs to study this pot. Love it!!!
lol I love how he said no they don’t 😂 they do too much! The government needs to lose some power not gain any! Lol
Poor Ron! He could not fish. I bet is not easy. The curry fish looks great. Even Ron ate it.

I literally prayed with you guys as I watched you saying grace 😄
Fried catfish, yummy. Catfish curry, sounds sketchy. Thanks for another great video.
It sounds absolutely delicious to me.I can't wait to try
Ron is probably the only man Gordon Ramsay fears to serve food.

I'm so proud of you guys.Definitely cook the rooster. That's gonna be a great episode.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Only because he is singing every 20 minutes. It is part of his nature. They should be send him to Florida, over there are plenty of feral roosters.
From the thumbnail, I would say that Ron loves it and wants it at the wedding dinner!

He i thought Ron was gonna fall in the the creek! Looks like a tasty curry Yum ! What is Mr. Bunny's name ?
Oh my gosh y’all and your strange food 😂. I can’t wait to hear this ❤
I have never thought to combine seafood and curry.
I've not seen tulips like those------very beautiful!!!!!

Enjoy every moment of your wedding planning and home build! The Lord will provide! Love all your creativity!
That month'll go quick!
Aside from being a flavor explosion: Curry spices act as natural pesticides and preservatives - essential without refrigeration after all.
Thanks for getting after the rooster! It was annoying during the cooking video! Hope he tastes good.
Blackened catfish is delicious! Just slather a fillet with butter, sprinkle with blackened seasoning and pan fry it. Yum!
I love your mission and your prayer. May God bless your marriage!

@@frontierpatriotAwesome! 😄
Catfish is DELICIOUS .. C'mon guys,, the curry is killin the favor
Justine, are you making Ron eat fish again??!! 😂
Ron and Justine must go noodling for catfish. You'd break the internet. 😅
I'm from Texas and the best catfish I ever had was in CA baked whole by a Chinese restaurant. It was to die for, unbelievably flakey and tasty.

Karen, how kind of you to share love after having a tough week.
In the south we have similar dishes like catfish and grits or types of creole or Cajun served over rice fish dishes
That curry looks yummy!! I'd just add some coconut milk (the canned stuff...NOT the refrigerated milk-alternative containers). P.S. I LOVE hearing your rooster crowing, but I imagine it must wear on you after awhile 😉
Try some curry powder on roasted cauliflower! Yum!
Great idea!!
This looks amazing. I too love curry. I think I may give this one a go. BTW, are you doing anything for the eclipse Monday?
I read where roosters crow to indicate safety for their flock, to communicate their dominance, and to warn of danger. They're your very own alarm system. Guinea's are the best though. Plus they keep your yard free from ticks and fleas.
Yayy. Your wedding is almost here. You two are sweet.
Box bless you both. Great video.
This was a great episode!
Almost forgot, lemon grass adds that lemon flavour and is so aromatic!
How funny, the rooster got quiet after you guys mentioned he's gonna get stewed before you move for being so loud! 😂🐓🔪🍽
Congratulations on your engagement and (soon to be) wedding! All this time, I thought you 2 were already married.
You two are great. Love you.
You guys can do this! Only a month left to go! After everything is done you will be able to relax and enjoy your new life you've worked so hard for!
Yes, indeed, until they start a family and that will be priority and it’s a hard work but rewarding when they grow up.
I’m learning all kinds of cool things from you guys. 💖
I’m with Ron 🎣😵💫

The cologne #6 is 65.00!! I'm getting my husband the 3 bar set of soap from amazon.
i found the sample size .5oz bottle for 35 bucks online im tempted :)
@@frontierpatriot go for it!! Think honeymoon:)
You both look very nice today! I’m not a fish fan either Ron but used with some lamb or chicken, this would be quite nice. ❤️🇨🇦
Lovely gift Ron.......expensive soaps should be opened, placed in your underwear drawer, the scent will perfume your clothes.....then after a few months, it will be harder , now use it for its intended purpose and it will past longer in use xxxxxx
thanks for the tip!!
Try some curry powder mixed with mayo as a dip for french fries. :)
What does a 200 year old curry taste like? Hard to imagine. If it were only 20 years old, I'd be more inclined to try it.
So happy to catch the live 🥰
